So let me get this straight. The witness literally came to sol in season of arrivals (which was a dope ass season btw), gave us stasis in beyond light, parked it for 3 or so years witnessing sol while knocking back a cold one, then finally shows up at our doorstep, opens a transdimensional doorway using the veil, refuses to elaborate, then goes through and fracks off. This was supposed to be bungie’s infinity war, and all we got was infinity scuffle with an anemic discount Thanos. The witness was more intimidating and interesting back in shadowkeep when it transported us to the black garden and took our form to talk to us. My theories were so much better than what bungie delivered.

We know nearly nothing about the Traveler but now it’s gone? I don’t feel impacted by this at all and Zavala’s reaction seems exaggerated given the Traveler’s history. I think the Witness was done well but so much seems rushed and lacking polish.
You aren't wrong at all honestly. There's alot of gaps in the storytelling as it's too dependant on player investment. It assumes you either already know or that you don't care enough to investigate deeper

God I just hate the witness as a character so much. It’s like if you turned the darkness into a character and then removed everything interesting about the darkness. No motivation, no philosophy, no moral ambiguity. Just random events happening for at best no reason and at worst a very stupid one.
Nothing of this makes any sense in the face of all the lore to this point. This is the most mc donalds writing I have ever seen. I love this franchise, but I hope numbers will plummet with this release for bungie to finally put a tiny speck of effort into the next installment. If you play through the new strike and listen to the end dialouge, you can find out the person saying they need more power to be free is Nezerac. Maybe the witness is feeding him the Darkness in the form of Doritos. This is probably incorrect, but still just a speculation.

I would say people should definitely calm down and actually replay the campaign, analyze it, or at the very least play it at all. So many people are jumping to conclusions so quickly, especially people just watching others on UA-cam playing the campaign and once it’s over they go straight to other comments disagreeing with them and haught about having a superior opinion and that the ones disagreeing have poor taste or have a sever coping mechanism 🙄

But people can't expect every game, movie, show, book, etc to fully explain what happens. Writers sometimes like to encourage speculation and mystery around an event and LF was no exception. People shouldn't expect to understand the story by just watching an "every cutscene" video imo.
There are definitely some very justifiable criticisms about lightfall but it is not utter trash because our characters actually made mistakes and didn't always know what to do.
Honestly playing through it was a blast, especially on legendary with two friends. A big part of the struggle comes from the fact that the writing was lackluster compared to the last season and the Witch Queen, but that’s mostly due to the twists in WQ about the Light and the hive worms. There are a lot of terms that are poorly explained, and the tone is kind of all over the place due to Nimbus being entirely too cheerful and trying to be comic relief. It’s nowhere near as underwhelmed as Beyond Light, though. I still had a lot of fun and am excited to see where the story goes. I think it’s just people needing to chill. People keep talking about how expensive it is, but $100 for a year of content isn’t bad at all. You would pay that for a night at a professional sporting event or even a nice date easily.

I feel that this campaign gets a little too much heat, i found it rather enjoyable to say the least, while the story is not top tier, it is still engaging to say the least. There is also intense action, great characters, and a beautiful setting of Neomuna.

we're in year 9 and this story arc is supposed to be ending next year, and they're still pushing out campaigns that just have you chasing shiny mcguffins they dont explain like d1 launch. it's really bad after TWQ actually made moves to answer questions and push things towards a conclusion. i'm sorry your standards are this low, or that you have a psychological tendency to justify spending money on dumb shit like this.
@@dondondonjujuju I sorry you have poor reading comprehension and don't understand the concept of build up but the story isn't done yet. Plenty of progress has actually been in terms of the story all the way from Destiny 1 till now, just because they didn't end the entire plot in a single DLC means it's low standards.
Like for feck sake dude they managed to write the Cabal/Fallen into being allies for Humanity and have the Hive on its last legs. That's a lot more than just "chase shiney macguffin" heck Season of Seraph had the consequence of Rasputin getting taken out.

I feel that this campaign gets a little too much heat, i found it rather enjoyable to say the least, while the story is not top tier, it is still engaging to say the least. There is also intense action, great characters, and a beautiful setting of Neomuna.
Destiny is all aesthetic and gunplay. Which isn’t a bad thing inherently, but when it advertises itself as being a lore-rich story driven experience, it’s ducking laughable. I don’t know a single person that can describe the story. I also don’t know a single person that actually gives a shit about it at this point.
