honestly what makes me sad is that this is all in homura's mind, meaning she wished being a magical girl was something heartwarming and fairy tale-like and not so cruel as the incubators made it to be...
@Jefri Anata That's not the point, yes it's true kyubey used this as a trap to get the old system back, but this shows that homura just wants a good life, just like anyone else.

Yeah... it's tragic enough how, even if Homura's wish for the others is purely a function of an idea of the world that Homura believes Madoka would accept and cherish and find fulfilling, it'd still be a nice enough place for them, the sort of cliche-ridden, complexity-averse power-of-friendship action-adventure story they knew to be impossible at the exact moment Charlotte's jaws snapped shut.
This scene hits me like a truck. Seeing how Sayaka has grown up as a character besides all the stuff that happened to her, and by how she consoles Hitomi is clear that she doesn't hold any grudge against her. Truly heartwarming.
In the third timeline sayaka did hold a grudge against hitomi that time, considering that her familiars that route are distorted versions of hitomi, stupidly giggling and dancing waiting to be flattened by Octavia's gears
maybe its just me overanalyzing something, but i like to think this scene sort of represents how sayaka had officially come to terms with everything that had happened, and showing how much she overcame her jealousy and spite over hitomi and kyousuke's relationship i just think theres a reason why they had sayaka to be the one who consoled hitomi and show her a good dream of kyousuke
Sayaka had overcome her feelings and gave her blessing to Kyousuke and Hitomi at the end, but it's still nice seeing it play out like this. She also knows she has Kyoko... Sayaka was taken into the Circle and Madoka shared her knowledge and experiences. Sayaka knew what Kyoko went through for her sake after Sayaka's death in the original universe and probably countless other timelines. And just like Madoka only knew Homura was her best friend after she became the Circle, Sayaka knew Kyoko was her truest companion. Near the end of the movie, Sayaka outright states that missing Kyoko was her greatest regret and Kyoko was the main reason she came back.
The romance thing never was sayaka's true thorn, it was the truth about witches, but hitomi taking her crush just made it worse, since she realized she wanted kyosuke to appreciate her.
its been 6 years since i wrote this and im just like... wow good job 15 year old me you understand basic literary analysis LOL so glad you pointed out the obvious😶

wish this was the real Madoka story...so warm and happy... So glad Sayaka wasn't in love with Kyosuke anymore. The scene where Sayaka is holding and petting Hitomi's head blob shows how much Sayaka cherishes Hitomi as a friend. Kyosuke really isn't worth these good girls.
+chrisroserva We have very little information about Kyosuke. Why is he not worth? (unless you're into girls relationship, then i can understand your statement .)
yeah but if hitomi was refused by kyousuke she would be thirsty for homura (i'm serious, it happens in the game "madoka portable", and honestly it could be one of the MANY alternate timelines)
@@Yarikkk14 In this movie, Kyosuke repeatedly blows Hitomi off, says that he's too busy for her, and makes plans on days that they're supposed to spend together even though they're dating. Also, Sayaka does call him either a jerk or an idiot or oblivious. It varies version to version. Point is, he isn't a very good boyfriend, and that's actually why Hitomi has this nightmare, she falls asleep after he is clearly bored talking on the phone with her.
Shes probably is still. But realised that it is ok to be jealous and be angry over a relationship. But it is not the end of the world, people who you love may not love you back. And thats okay. Like the original Little Mermaid and Hans Anderson.
This scene makes me sob every time I see it, the visuals are so stunning and it's such a small moment of relief from the otherwise incredibly painful reality of what these magical girls face. Watching Sayaka make peace with the situation that previously caused her to despair, and watching the Hitomi fish swim around Kyosuke makes me cry every time I see it. This entire franchise is genius regardless of the direction they go in.
Everyone in the comments is talking about Sayaka, but what strikes me the most is how this conclusion mirrors Homura's conclusion at the end of the movie. Notice that Homura's and Hitomi's anguish are actually the same: they're both sad because their beloved ones are too focused on their life purposes (for Kyousuke, that's the violin, and for Madoka, that's her wish, the thing that she can fight for) and don't give enough attention to them. In the case of Hitomi, she comes to peace as she's reminded by her friends of how much she loves Kyousuke's passion, so she continues to support him. As for Homura, well... Even though everyone around her tries to help her the same way they helped Hitomi, the outcome is exactly the opposite. This comparison is even more powerful if you remember that witches attract mentally unstable people who shares their saddness to their labyrinths, so that's probably the reason why Hitomi's there in the first place.
Thank goodness Hitomi wasn't a magical girl. She might have died and Sayaka would go through a BUNCH more grief. It's best they put her in for other reasons.
Sayaka restoring his arm so he can create beautiful music again is truly such a selfless gift never once demanding him or telling him the truth so he can feel indebted to her she’s rlly sweet but that can be a hard burden

For Kyosuke, as a musical prodigy, his music and the violin had to be the center of his life. Everything else, no matter if he wanted it or not, had to be second. That level of talent is also a curse that takes control of every aspect of his life. Everything must be focused on it and it alone. So anyone involved with him would have to accept they will never be the main focus of his attention. It's also the reason he reacted so severely to the injury he suffered. As he saw it, without being able to play the violin, he was nothing. As Sayaka said when she learned the truth about magical girls, he was "a corpse pretending to be alive.
0:50 you can see here that Madoka's Soul Gem doesn't glow like the others' do. It could be more foreshadowing to the fake world and how this Madoka isn't technically real.
I love how Sayaka has moved on from Kyou. She has forgiven Hitomi (who actually did nothing wrong in the first place-she told Sayaka about her crush and set a good deadline for when she planned to confess, which was reasonable), and will hopefully be with Kyoko.
That’s like saying Homura did nothing wrong. Check the third movie. Anyway, Hitomi did not set a fair guideline. She knew Sayaka was confused about her feelings towards Kyosuke and that she wouldn’t be able to gather her thoughts and feelings in time to ask him out. What kind of friend does that? Don’t get mad because you’re not the sun he orbits around. This is all the bad stuff that Hitomi did.
I cry everytime watching this. Its just so adorable and it shows how much sayaka has moved on. And how much hitomi loves violin kid. Plus the faces she makes as a head blob are so adorable
Obviously my favourite scene from this movie, it shows Sayaka's character development from coming to terms with Hitomi's and Kyosuke's relationship together, she cares for them and wants them to be happy together.
Funny how when knowing why this is all happening it makes for a very nice and even a little touching scene, and as other's pointed out, a nice degree of growth and maturity on Sayaka's part. Out of context... it makes for a totally "what drug did I just unknowingly take" vibe. :)
I love how it shows Sayaka blessing their relationship to a degree here and consoles Hitomi because she knows what she is going through. The point is further nailed home by when Sayaka calls Kyousuke Captain Oblivious and when she confesses to Kyouko later on.
If you read the classic version of The Little Mermaid? That's what happens. The mermaid dies but she's made an Angel who helps the lost and broken and starts by blessing the Prince and his bride.
Old comment, but I hope you see my answer... I don't think Hitomi turned into that blob thing, exactly. Everything that happens after the... String blood and fishes (?)... Comes from beneath her bed is her nightmare taking the physical form the others fight. The weird puppet thing is kinda like it's "battle armor" that the MGs have to destroy to get at the real problem, which is... How Hitomi feels at that moment. Which they do by turning it into a cake which Charlotte eats, who then expels the badness as pretty sparkles like some kind of insane tree->carbon dioxide->oxygen relationship. Personally I feel it was a GREAT representation of how someone, and especially young girls, feel when first wading into the waters of relationships. She loved violin boy, obviously, but not being able to see him a lot was leaving her upset and discombobulated (discomblobulated?) And that was reflected in the core of her nightmare as blob Hitomi. I don't think Hitomi ever left her bed at all.
Just to think... .... Homura was the one who made this "magic system" in her World, one that had mutual benefit for those who suffered and those who fought... ...and they kept telling me she wasn't a good person. 😕
@@JustEverton she isn't really bad person, she said shes the devil because she thought she is. She created world where everybody is happy, there are no witches, kyubey isn't manipulating anybody (althought it wasnt his intention) and Madoka can finally live happy, without being alone. Sort of perfect world, everybody is alive and definetly not happy.
I get this is supposed to be a sweet moment but I can’t help noticing that it’s still Hitomi chasing after Kyousuke when she flies up after him. He’s always flying backwards away from her while she keeps flying forward to get close to him. He even seems to flick her away just before they start to spiral at the end. I might be looking too much into it but I thinks it shows Kyousuke’s first priority will always be his violin and not the girls who love him.
DIVINE, Sayaka doesn't show any hate against them just because Kyosuke decided to be with Hitomi, but made a good dream for her instead, i'm just hurt about the pain she suffered in the first movie :(
I have not watched this movie yet. and frankly I'm to scared too, But this scene really makes me all teary eyed and happy. I have not watched the anime but i know that Sayaka loved Kyosuke and yet Hitomi loved him, and he liked her. And in the anime i think thats what made her soul gem fill with grief. But in this, she is not mad. She sees how upset and small Hitomi is, and Sayaka comforts her. Giving her a dream of him. she holds no grudge against her, and she sees how happy it makes Hitomi. and she watches them dance and become one, and just smiles. cause her friend is happy.
Ohhh throwback to the main series when everyone hated or simply disliked Sayaka simply because she was weak and turned insane. Now after Rebellion, she got the recognition she deserves. I feel like a hipster thinking about it, because it's like "I loved Sayaka before it was cool" xD
I want to ship sayaka and him but ik it cant happen its so sad how realisticaly dark about this scene's message is. That sometimes love doesn't work out.
I agree. I like it if Kyousuke is with Sayaka cause their childhood friends. My sister and I believe that lovers that known each other since kids have stronger bonds.
Julia Tjandra i am so glad that someone understands me on this note. Many people ship her with the other magical girls. I'm not against it but it's clearly depicted that Sayaka truly loves him.
I honestly think Kyousuke isn't a good person to be with her...my OPT is Kyoko x Sayaka, but not just because is yuri, but because he didn't even accepted her feelings, he treated her so bad, even knowing his situation still this isn't a reason to be so rude with someone who cares about you. Kyoko suicided to be with Sayaka, such a beautiful scene...
@@ninjashoujogirl6566 by shipping her with the other girls, no one is trying to invalidate she loved him, that she made her wish for him. that's canon. what's also canon is how this scene depicts how he will always put his goals above anyone else. which doesn't make him a bad person either, they're all just people, with feelings and passions. moving on from your feelings doesn't erase the memories or lessons you learned, so I think people who ship her with kyoko like that she can understand sayaka on a deeper level.
@@katylepetsos7512 in the show, hitomi was talking to sayaka and madoka and thought that they had liked each other. she started saying "girls can't like girls!"
Wait it’s been so many years and I just realized that when the soul gems are restored, only Homura’s does not have a dark spot while the rest of them do, showing that she is not a magical girl anymore. The subtle details in this series are phenomenal
this is incredibly impactful especially with the music, I can hear some parts of Disney's Little Mermaid theme in there and I'm sure it's intentional, seeing mermaid symbolism practically everywhere for Sayaka
i think this is sad for the three of them, sayaka, hitomi and kyousuke, i dont dislike kyousuke because he too was suffering and couldnt move on by the fact he could never do what he likes again, the three of them were just 14 years old kids who were suffering so hard because life sucks seeing this, i wish this was what actually happened
I've wondered what to make of this exact moment in _Rebellion,_ given how the setting here is an artificial, hallucinogenic psychic womb, a birthing chamber for a future being that wants control of the entire cosmos so it can enforce its will on an object of personal affection. I guess I don't like to think too hard about it, besides how it's a conscious attempt to build tension and dread in the third part of a trilogy by presenting what the likely audience might want to see, knowing they will also realize that it will soon come crashing down.
What really sucks is that THIS is what their lives as Magical Girls should have been, instead of the nightmare they actually exist in. And it's a witch's labyrinth.
Sayaka was able to get closure about her selfishness, not moralizing her motivations, while homura never had that revelation, equating her selfishness to love. So sayaka is able to let go while homura clings onto it with every fiber of her being.
honestly what makes me sad is that this is all in homura's mind, meaning she wished being a magical girl was something heartwarming and fairy tale-like and not so cruel as the incubators made it to be...

Did anyone else notice when Sayaka let go of Hitomi's blob head, Hitomi became like a mermaid.
How did I not notice this!?!?!? I really hate the symbolism with the little mermaid
I know this is alleatory but i really want a timeline where Kyoko Sayaka and Hitomi become a trio

Funny how when knowing why this is all happening it makes for a very nice and even a little touching scene, and as other's pointed out, a nice degree of growth and maturity on Sayaka's part. Out of context... it makes for a totally "what drug did I just unknowingly take" vibe. :)
Rob Hunter The best kind of drugs... imagination
さやかちゃんいい子だなぁ
I love how it shows Sayaka blessing their relationship to a degree here and consoles Hitomi because she knows what she is going through. The point is further nailed home by when Sayaka calls Kyousuke Captain Oblivious and when she confesses to Kyouko later on.
If you read the classic version of The Little Mermaid? That's what happens. The mermaid dies but she's made an Angel who helps the lost and broken and starts by blessing the Prince and his bride.
If only the magical girl system ran exactly like this.
It would be awesome :)

Taking the term "moeblob" a bit too literally there, aren't we, Shaft?
I don't know why Hitomi turned into this blob-thing, but it was just so dang adorable... I cried oceans.
さやかちゃんはそれで幸せなの…?

Just to think...
....
Homura was the one who made this "magic system" in her World, one that had mutual benefit for those who suffered and those who fought...
...and they kept telling me she wasn't a good person. 😕
Just because you’re a bad person, doesn’t mean you have bad intentions.
Somehow this scene makes me feel sad for Sayaka :'(
Me too. I keep thinking about how Sayaka turned into a witch in the series and how they had to kill her
Me too!! I don't know why i fell sad for her if she looks so happy now. Happy with kyouko :p
***** I feel glad because she managed to be happy for them.
More heartwarming than the flower field scene.
The flower field scene was more like heartbreaking
It's so beautiful *cries uncontrollably until all the water in body is out*
DIVINE, Sayaka doesn't show any hate against them just because Kyosuke decided to be with Hitomi, but made a good dream for her instead, i'm just hurt about the pain she suffered in the first movie :(
さやか優しいから大好き
It's sad how you see Hitomi dancing with the fake Kyusoke knowing that she just want him to pay more attention to her and not always on that violin.
Cinnamon roll
that violin guy is Holger, one of Oktavia's minion.
The reason her soul gem corrupted was after she learned the truth about the magical girls / witches, Sayaka saw herself as an inhuman monster.
Awww... Sweet dreams, Hitomi.
さやかは優しすぎるよ
魔女化のときは、魔法少女になるということの本当の意味と、見返りが欲しかったのかもしれないという迷いと、ひとみとのことが重なって重なってもうどうしようもないくらいの絶望だったんだろうな
Ohhh throwback to the main series when everyone hated or simply disliked Sayaka simply because she was weak and turned insane.
Now after Rebellion, she got the recognition she deserves. I feel like a hipster thinking about it, because it's like "I loved Sayaka before it was cool" xD
これ、リアタイで見たけど、このお菓子の魔女の顔といいみんなの幸せそうな…ほんとたまらんって感じだった…表せない…
I totally did not have tears in my eyes caused by the vision of beauty before me during the watching of this.
Trust me.

Wait it’s been so many years and I just realized that when the soul gems are restored, only Homura’s does not have a dark spot while the rest of them do, showing that she is not a magical girl anymore. The subtle details in this series are phenomenal

Beautifull scene, the boy dancing with violin.
One thing about the idea of fighting nightmares is the magical girls solve the problem from inside the person, not from the outside.

Esta es una de tantas escenas que me encantan♡

What really sucks is that THIS is what their lives as Magical Girls should have been, instead of the nightmare they actually exist in. And it's a witch's labyrinth.

Sayaka was able to get closure about her selfishness, not moralizing her motivations, while homura never had that revelation, equating her selfishness to love. So sayaka is able to let go while homura clings onto it with every fiber of her being.
