It's awesome to see what cotton farming is like in different states. I'm from Arizona. Born and raised on a 200+ acre cotton farm owned by my uncles, that was owned by my grandpa (their dad) back in the day. Used to ride around on the farm with my uncles almost everyday when I was younger. I'm 19 now, and stuck on a road sider all day haha.
Always like your videos. very interesting. Grew up dairy farming, then cash crop - corn, wheat, barley, soy beans. Career in railroad operations. been retired over 20 years, My. heart is still on the farm. I'm a fan of RRR farms. keep it up..
You got me motivated! Bought 12 tubes of grease at JD Montgomery ($80.00) for my 24 5100E. Hoping to plant about 20 acres sweet corn to sell in 25. Thinking about the NT drill at Sunsouth. Please don’t get tired of making these videos. I don’t even watch TV any more. I enjoy this!
I live in Mississippi, and I believe that the agriculture in Alabama is similar to Mississippi? I am saving up money to buy a decent sized property to farm!
I had noticed your cotton picked a lttle cleaner than some of the fields down here in Monroe County. Your explanation of wanting all the bolls open for the cleanest picking helped me understand why that may be.
I had a chance years ago to ride in a 7760 one of our neighbors had at the time before the cs series came out and it was definitely interesting, though most farmers in my area use Strippers instead of pickers. We should be spraying our cotton any day now.
I like seeing your dad still getting after it! I have to pull up the rinse valve with my hand on my sprayer inductor also. Glad to see you using gloves. Have a safe harvest..
Hey Granny and Daniel. Hurricane was rough please help us pray for Tenn, GA, NC, SC,VA Don't know We were out of power for 4 and 1/2 days . but we were blessed.
Granny, Good morning! Best Wishes for a Great Weekend! Daniel would you please show us the button and mechanism that lowers the RoGators steps. Can't remember you showing us that before. Great Video and beautiful drone footage.
My Great grandfather worked for McQueen Smith at his farms and ran the cotton gin. And my grandmother worked for Autauga Farms as well. It’s crazy you just popped up in my UA-cam feed, I’m sure you’re probably really familiar with Autauga Farms.
I’ve heard farmers say it’s not worth it to go back through the cotton, but I’m so frugal. I would. Until I learned the fuel cost more than the cotton. I definitely go back through for bowls that hadn’t opened yet. If you do, I’ll be curious to see how much cotton you get.
didnt have crop this year got flooded out. Daniel you should show thomas how they used to pick cotton years ago lol go in the field with a big gunny sack have him pick a full bag of cotton lol.
Daniel I love the cotton picker videos. Fascinating machine to watch. Does it look like there is cotton left after the picker goes by? If so do you go over it again?
Gabe Brown's "Dirt to soil" practically transitioned my conventional farming methods to regenerative, and with $105k from Kathleen's brokerage services we keep thriving on every ground - on the farms and smiling to the bank
So why do y'all use a picker over a stripper? Like the CS690, is it an economics thing or a regional thing or what? Thanks for all you do from us non-farmer types!
That is a great question and I really don’t have an answer but in the Alabama Georgia Mississippi region from my experience is we all run normal row crop pickers and the stripers are all out in the Texas regions, why that is I don’t have an answer but I’ll definitely do some research to get your question answered, thanks for watching
Hey Daniel glad to see your dad out giving it all . Nice to see T . Growing up quickly ! You definitely do some of the best drone work. Keep it up we all enjoy it. TAKE CARE AND STAY SAFE !!!!!
The quality of cotton here in the Deep South is too high to use strippers. Most cotton out Texas way is not used for what we use ours for which is most higher end clothing etc
I always wondered why the farmers don't go through the crop again because I always see that there is this cotton left on the planet. Is it because they have other field's to harvest?
Just depends on how much is truly left and diesel/DEF prices. Also it’s not always cotton you see either, inside the bolls it is white too and can put off the look as it’s cotton but it’s not. Just depends on what we think we can yield with the 2nd pick🤷🏻♂️
Sometimes there is cotton left and sometimes it’s the white inside the cotton bolls looking like cotton. The pockets don’t take everything in like the cotton strippers do but you’re generally using strippers on lower quality cotton so we don’t use them in Bama
Depends on weight and the cotton prices at the time. Each roll is 5000-5500lbs but on average we only get about 30% of that at the gin after the seed is removed
We got really lucky and had very little damage, but our prayers go out to the ones in Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and all the states that were impacted!
Smart call on waiting to spray the other field-timing really is everything in farming. That fluffy cotton looks like it's ready to shine! ☁✨

I have been watching your videos for 3 years or so and I do not recall a time that the rogator has not started! That's a pretty good run.

Always enjoy seeing how your farm operates...Im from up in Minnesota and the crops you grow and the conditions to grow them are interesting.
Hey Daniel. I watch your videos everytime. You are doing a great job!
Another great video! Have a blessed harvest season!

Our cotton is too clean and too high quality to use strippers here
All I know about cotton is from your videos, and there’s lots to learn. Thank you, Daniel. Hello Granny.
It’s a tricky crop that you can love some years and it will let you down others, thanks for watching 👍😁

Praying y'all missed the storms. Our crops.and chickens.got hit hard over.here.in Georgia.
Where do yall haul your beans to? Milo looks better this year than last year! Enjoyed video!!
The one thing I like about cotton is it's soft

Great question and I think we may have about 500lbs left on the stalk so it will be definitely worth picking twice, thanks for watching 👍😁
@@TripleRFarms 500lbs, it absolutely is worth picking.
Yep really depends on the cost of going through again. Plastic wrap and diesel/DEF definitely not cheap
Deere really captured the market with that machine.

Hello 😊
What’s all the white stuff still left on the cotton plant after the picker’s passed?
Cotton of course. Listen to his video again.
@@mmm365It never does. Listen to his video again.
It is left behind cotton think of it like the acceptable loss that comes out the back of a combine.
Pretty sure that is cotton that has short fibers and can’t be picked .
@@jimbob8969 you probably right I did not think about that part
Daniel I love the cotton picker videos. Fascinating machine to watch.
Does it look like there is cotton left after the picker goes by? If so do you go over it again?
Sometimes we will double pick but it depends on how much was missed after the first pick. It’s not as much as it looks like most of the time
Lol roy telling on everybody lol😅😅
Grain sorghum is bad about sweating and sticking to the walls of grain bins and can be a pain to get out FYI
😩 just the thought of sorghum makes me itch, sneeze, and cough.
Good. Morning granny and Daniel❤😊

Reading and farming. There's no knowledge that isn't power. I give it a look too. Thank you
How do you get so much in that period of time???
Heard and read quite a lot about this brokerage activities. How does it work what are my chances getting something good out of it?
How do you go about this please?
Sure hope osha doesn’t see your dad jumping on the moving cotton picker!😂😂😂
OSHA?

I wasn't expecting the comment section to be so...polite.
I thought you had two combines so you cut beans and Milo?
Yall picking cotton & we’re just getting started on peanuts here in NC
Is PA a family member Daniel? Just curious
Back in the day cotton seed was about free, from your grinned cotton, defoleat no you would pick 2 or 3 times.
Now the gin gets the seed and they don’t charge us to gin it. Not everyone is that way but we are
Did Phillip retire
What keeps the birds from wiping out the Milo crop?
Nothing really.
Do you plant any peanuts?
@@mmm365 ok.i plant them .but didn't plant many this year.i plant more of corn and soybeans
Most of the peanut farmers are towards Dothan way. We could farm them but it’s a different beast

You should never get on a moving cotton stripper because you could get injured or killed.
Good thing because they don’t own a cotton stripper😂
bro leaves at least 33% of it on the stem...
