I'm a Chinese guy born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. I had 0 exposure to Roy Clark until i started watching reruns of the odd couple on meTV and came across this gem. When Jimi Hendrix says see Roy Clark when talking about the greatest guitarist, that tells you everything you need to know
I used to go to church with Roy back in Oklahoma. He was just one of the guys, didn't want anyone fussing over him. Said he was there to worship the Lord, just the rest of us. He was more talented than most people actually realized.
@@hrearden6993 No, he didn't. He wanted to just be another member in the church. He didn't want people making a big thing out of him being there, because he said he was there to worship the Lord, and growth in faith, just like the rest of us. A very humble man. That was many years ago, when I still lived in Oklahoma. He is no doubt singing with angels in Heaven now.
Down the road there from me there's a big hallow tree Where you lay down a dollar or two You stroll 'round the bend and you come back again There's a jug full of good old mountain dew They call it that good old mountain dew And them that refuse it are few I'll hush up my mug if you fill up my jug With that good old mountain dew Now, my brother Bill's got a still on the hill Where he runs off a gallon or two The buzzards in the sky get so drunk they can't fly From smelling that good old mountain dew Well They call it that good old mountain dew And them that refuse it are few I'll hush up my mug if you fill up my jug With that good old mountain dew
It's been resurrrected twice. The original, starring Jack Klugman and Tony Randall, aired on ABC from 1970-75. There was an African-American version on ABC in 1982 (one season) which starred Demond Wilson as Oscar and Ron Glass as Felix. In recent years, there was another version on CBS. By recent, I mean shortly before 2023, as I'm posting on January 21 of that year. The whole thing started in 1968. I believe it was originally a Broadway play, but I do know there was a movie of it that year. Walter Matthau played Oscar and Jack Lemmon did Felix. I don't know any particulars of the CBS-TV incarnation, except that it didn't last very long.
@@thelastjohnwayne Oh i fully agree that two and a half men is and was absolute shite, but if you can't see the funny in how this particular scene could have been it's whole influence, well I guess that's okay, cool your guns Samson...

Felix's death stare when Roy puts his foot on the table is priceless. Absolute gold.
Roy Clark could do anything. He could probably play your shoes because they have strings.
I did not realize he could play banjo. I regularly watched "The Odd Couple", but did not remember Roy Clark's appearance on that classic show.

Did he sing and play string instruments in church? Which church was it?

Roy Clark --- A Legend who could play any genre!!
I was always blown away by Clark's virtuosity on his chosen instrument(s), until I saw Oscar play that zipper like that!
Lol.
What a talent! RIP Roy.
Yes i seen this on abc tv . Original broadcast . Will never forget it.
Why have I watched this like 200 times now
Felt
Old Oscar got freaking jiggy with it....Woooo!
He was a closet hillbilly. Whoda thunk it?!
When Oscar but that book on Roy's foot and Roy paused and then kept going, i was on the ground.

Where he runs off a gallon or two
The buzzards in the sky get so drunk they can't fly
From smelling that good old mountain dew
Well They call it that good old mountain dew
And them that refuse it are few
I'll hush up my mug if you fill up my jug
With that good old mountain dew

That was awesome!

This makes you want to drink moonshine.

You really don't know who Felix Unger is, do you?
I wasn't born in the 60, 70's or early 80s so I'm unfamiliar with these characters and setting.
what is this show called?
the odd couple
@@tattoobillyvon9764 Ah that was my first guess. Thanks for confirming!

:34 lol
So that’s where the name came from! Named their sugar water after moonshine then marketed to hillbillies who lose their teeth drinking it every day.
It was actually intended to be marketed as a mixer for moonshine.
And this is how two and a half men was created, hosh damn
NO this is not how 2 1/2 men was created. The Odd Couple was a FUNNY FAMILY FRIENDLY SHOW
2 1/2 is Garbage Smut Trash.

Felix(tony randell) pissed seeing shoes on the table lol classic odd couple 🤗👍
