That is a dam good job on a nice looking hull. I like the idea of planking the cockpit sole. The typical plywood floor with no air circulation ends up staying wet from day one. I don't care what product you try, wood with water sitting on it will soon fail. I like the subtle hook on the bow lines. Kinda has a hint of looking like Reggie fountains boats
Thanks!! That was exactly the reason I planked the sole with small gaps. Get water into the bilge and pumped out quickly. You are right the bow stem does resemble a Fountain powerboat - just wish mine would go as fast!!
Great build, great video, thanks for sharing. Oh, and I did build a boat trailer just like that back in 1971. Boat looks so pretty on the plane. Thanks again!
@@simonjfoord It's tough to get the frames fair so the bottom sheeting is nice and fair. Most aren't and have to use a bunch of fairing compound to get it looking good. Your sheeting came out fantastic. I've built 2 wooden boats and know the struggle. Mine were an 8' and a 12' so not very big or complicated. Nothing like that beauty you built there. Great job.
It is not marine ply, instead exterior fir ply. My understanding is the glue and laminating process is the same but greater risk of hidden voids. I sourced it through a local lumber yard, the quality is way better than big box store. I have built two boats using this quality with no problems so far. I inspect it carefully before installing.
Thanks for the encouragement! Just got done with the electrics and finished the sub-deck last week, working on ripping and planing the mahogany planks right now. Hope to have mine on the water around September (in time for the Glen-L Gathering here in Tennessee). Always enjoy your videos - great job.
How long did this project take? I've been wanting to build one of these for a while and I'm finally getting the time and money to do so but just wanted an idea.

Wow! Nice job on that side planking at the bow curve. It looks really fair at the bow. Beautiful looking hull.
Thanks!!

Great video. Your work is very nice!
Thanks! Appreciate that
Why not build it right-side-up like the Vikings did on modern day sawhorses ???
May just do that on my next build - just call me Floki...
I'm curious as to the plywood you used to plank the boat. To my eye...and I'm no wood expert, it looks like big box store spf.

What paint for sides staining on ua-cam.com/video/4Rr2dcMtR84/v-deo.html?
Minwax water based stain - red mahogany as I recall. Need to let it thoroughly dry before coating with epoxy etc.
@@simonjfoord oh thank you, I doubted about the stain before epoxy
very nice look
