- BURAN GHATI PASS | 7 Days Himalayan Trek | The World of Madhu Sharma
The Buran Ghati Trek is a 7 days trek through the beautiful and scenic mountains of Himachal Pradesh. It is one of the most beautiful treks where trail consists of dense oak and pine tree forests, meadows, a day trek to the Chandranahan Lake, the Litham campsite at the foot of the alpine mountains and the view of beautiful Buran Ghati Pass from the Dhunda campsite.
Day 1 - Shimla to Janglik
The journey from Shimla to Janglik is a 7-8 hour beautiful and scenic drive along side the Pubber River. You reach the base camp in Janglik at around 4:00 pm. The base camp is situated at a height of 9415 ft.
Day 2 - Janglik to Dayara
The trek from Janglik to Dayara is 7.5 kms and it takes 5 -6 hours. The trail climbs into a dense oak and pine forest and the last half hour of the day’s trek brings you to a vast expanse of meadows where the second campsite is situated at a height of 11,115 feet.
Day 3 - Dayara to Lithum
The trail from Dayara to Litham takes you through dense forests and green meadows before descending to the Chandrahan stream. As you cross the stream you reach the Dhunda campsite which is at an altitude of 11485 ft.
Day 4 - Day Trek to Chandranahan
This day is for acclimatising and you trek to Chandranahan Lake which is situated at a height of 13000 feet. The climb is very steep and you have to follow a shepherd’s trail to reach the ridge top. The trail is a very steep climb and it takes 5-6 hours to reach the top and come back to Litham campsite.
Day 5 - Litham to Dhunda
The trek from Litham to Dhunda campsite is a 3-4 hours trek. The Dhunda campsite is situated at a height of 13,300 ft and is surrounded by mountains. Once you reach Dhunda campsite you get absolutely clear views of Buran Ghati Pass and the trail that leads to it.
Day 6 - Buran Ghati Pass Summit Day
Normally on the summit day you cross the Buran Ghati pass which is above 15000 ft and trek to River campsite. Due to government restrictions we trekked to the Buran Ghati pass but then trekked back to Dayara campsite. This was a very long and tiring day where we trekked a total distance of around 17-18 kms in 16 hours.
Day 7 - Dayara to Janglik
On the last day you trek back from Dayara campsite to the base camp in Janglik. Then you drive back to Simla.
