- Sarah Richardson has a mammoth design challenge on her hands this week. She attempts to renovate a busy downtown restaurant with the help of the Design Inc team. Erin and Mark want to change the space entirely, new lights, new furniture, and they want to remove the owners creepy mannequin dolls. However, there’s one issue for Sarah and the design Inc, team; they have two renovate the restaurant without it closing. Are they up to the challenge or will this renovation leave design in with a one star review?

It’s nice. But if my regular hangout place changed so much that I felt I now have to dress up just to go get a beer and burger there. I’d be changing hangout spots. It’s a different place for a different customer base. Hope that’s what the owners wanted. Likely not what the old customers wanted
Nice and hope there is a dimmer option on the lighting.
I would imagine the restaurant did a major menu overhaul as well because the new space is not targeting the same customer!!
I couldn’t agree more! Were they trying to get rid of the regulars?
I love the remodel, but I also loved it before! The new space creates a completely different vibe which may be good, or it could ruin the place as it's so off from what it was. However, hopefully the restaurant is alive and well, and ready for yet another go at changing the decor. 😁😎👍✌
Looks very nice, but doesn’t seem like it will draw the same crowd. The type of people that would frequent the first restaurant probably did it for the aesthetic and the vibe, and this looks like they’re trying to attract and entirely different group of people. Maybe they are.
OMG - “Get rid of the dummies!” I loved it!!
Though I've seen most of the episodes of this season, I still catch something new when I watch each one (! And rewatch... and rewatch... and rewatch... 🥰). LOVE the chances to do so----yayyyyyy ABODE!🙌💛😍
very nice and sparkly. it looks more expensive. i wonder if they upgraded their menu.
"Landmark restaurant" sounds historical and yet they change it completely. It's been as is for only 6 years. That's about the average for a restaurant fail. They most likely needed a switch up to survive. Sarah has a knack for removing the historical orginal and replacing it with salvage she finds. It's very curious. I wondered why they weren't dealing with the owner vs the managers but the bar stool discussion brings them in. I continue to marvel at Sarah's ability to envision the after on day one. It gives us a view into Sarah's life when she describes the end product as 'kind of casual'. Compared to where they starte this place is not 'casual' at all!!! Still it does look fresh and inviting. Not the local hang out but easily the place where suits gather after a long day crunching numbers. Everyone on the cell phones of course!!
BIG change for this restaurant. We liked the final results, even with the mistakes along the way. The music sound track was sometimes overwhelming and made it harder to follow for us. Good work and good questions from the team. It is easy to under appreciate restaurant design and this UA-cam builds a new understanding of design importance even with a tight time schedule.
Never seen before yippee!
The audio in this episode was very low quality.
Sarah, you and your team are amazing.
That turned out lovely for a commercial spot!
Wow - it looks so pretty! I like what they did but I also liked how it was. It had a really cool vibe but they transformed it to a fresh, vibrant cool vibe.
Watching Sarah + Tommy + blondes, this kind of reno is FOR THE YOUNG. Clearly.
Delicious...
I don't think it is fair for the client to have to pay for the mistake Sarah made when she decided to laminate the fabrics for the chairs.
I really doubt Sarah made them do that. She's acknowledged mistakes before and took the charges herself.
I was sort of surprised when Sarah said they would cancel items to recoup the cost of her mistake, more like she should eat that cost.
The New design is a VAST improvement on the old (which was ICK!!!!!!!). Very pretty and a good use of colour, lighting and mirrors.
Fabulous!
The music is OBNOXIOUS.
Man, the sound mixing is horrible! Nothing can be done about it, I’m afraid.
The music is too loud!
If I had a nickel for every time Sarah chose a drab green, on every single project, I'd be able to start my own design business. Gross. From a bustling sports bar, to a green wedding venue. Unbelievable.
No that looks so old ladiesh
The bistro tables seem unusable
That is weird to order 'laminated fabric' ... without having tested it first! WHO DOES THAT??? That is SO UNPROFESSIONAL!
I love all of these episodes, but the music is overpowering.
The music in the background is overwhelming the talking (you know, that we clicked on to hear) in the first place.
Question: why are so many designers showing you the finished room at the beginning of the show? I absolutely Hate that. Why bother watching it to see the transformation when we see it in the first 20 seconds? I have to admit I often don't even bother to watch the show since I already know how it turns out. I wish they wouldn't do this. Then again, it means I only have to watch the first 25 seconds! LOL
and Abode, how about showing us new shows, not shows from 15+ years ago!
@@meganseastrom5467 Oh Megan, I terribly disagree with you on this. I am SOOOO grateful to see Design Inc. episodes and am very thankful of Abode (!). About the 15 yrs ago---- see, I really enjoy contrasting the styles of today with those from years ago (e.g. what is or came back in style, what didn't), and how well Sarah consistently does timeless design (not always I know, but mostly).
@@meganseastrom5467, I disagree with this. The show has been off the air for years, and as such… has no other place to be shown, unless HGTV has streaming rights… which I doubt.
@@brandoniswhoiam That's your option; disagree all you like. As my opinion is mine. It's not just the old shows, lots of youtubers do the same thing, for example dumpster divers. .
I really disliked the former design - and the updated design. The former was too masculine, and the updated, too feminine. Where was the conversation about the demographic inspiring the design - like they do for a home redesign? It just seemed they decided on funky and bright mishmash. I don't know who would be comfortable there, but I think there'll be more salads on the menu than beer!
Who on earth does the editing!!! You cannot hear over the music. Ridiculous.
90% of the customers who frequented the old establishment will come back to this dizzying, gaudy catastrophe.
WHY do people need televisions when they go out to eat?? Is conversation a thing of the past?
Perfectly dreadful.
