Blue Groper at Gordons Bay, Sydney

At the popular snorkelling site Gordons Bay in Sydney, we came across many interesting aquatic species. One of them was a Blue Groper, munching on some urchins.
Fishing of the blue groper by any method is prohibited in New South Wales. The blue groper, the NSW state fish, has been protected from spearfishing since 1969, and commercial fishing since 1980, but the changes announced on 21st February will prohibit other forms of fishing, including line fishing. The changes do not apply to Aboriginal cultural fishing.
