- this is a nice 2016 Pontiac Trans Am based on a Chevrolette Camaro. it is limited up to 77 cars this is car number 1. I hope you like this video. That is a beautiful Trans-Am, most attractive performance car on the road for under $150k U.S.
Honestly, Firebirds are my favorite cars and I've never given these much respect. They just look too much like a Camaro. It's a well done car, but it feels like they took a Camaro and tried to make it into a Trans Am. I know the Camaros and Firebirds were brother cars that always shared the same platform, but apart from the 1st generation cars, Pontiac always went out of it's way to make a very distinct car that was easily distinguishable from the Camaro. A lot of it had to do with curves. Camaros were often more angular and firebirds more curvy. This looks like a camaro.
That being said, I'm coming around on them. They may not be actual Trans Ams (even if they have the license), but they are really nice cars that are also cool in their own way.

Nice to see the new bird is back in Europe. I think it is a beautiful car. It isen't a camaro anymore (okay, the firebird and camaro are nearly production twins from the beginig on. but they changed over 300 parts, better handling, more power, etc. it is a real masterpice form trans am depot. all new firebird versions are handmade. they also make the new version of pontiac gto.

nice. the camaro and the trans am always been production twins. the Pontiac Trans Am had more luxury features. The Chevrolet Camaro had the horsepower but less luxury features. Anybody that don't know about American Muscle Cars that's the history behind it.

It happens to be the reason I smoke modern cars and drag there asses with my 15 inch wheels and big fat 29" tires. I take money from people with way more horse power because low profile tires don't grip under real power like a big side wall tire does. Get the point yet or do I have to dumb it down any more? Ok I will:
NASCAR and INDY both run big sidewall tires. Ever wonder why? Indy cars corner like gocarts on twisting and turning tracks. Why the fuck don't they use low profile tires? Because they SUCK under racing conditions!!!
So because ALL cars are using low profile tires you think that is the best? Every wonder why only a few people can be winners and the majority are losers? Why only a hand full win races and the rest lose? Because the hand full don't follow what every one else is doing. They do there own thing.

First, regarding aspect ratio: It is not only NASCAR and Indycar (or whatever they call it nowadays) that use little wheels with higher profile tires. Formula 1 does this, too. If my recollection is correct and my information still current, F1 runs 13 inch wheels, in fact! But this is simply dictated by FIA regulations, and is said to have more to do with the cars maintaining continuity of appearance, and with controlling development costs, than anything else (more on these principles, below).
As for NASCAR, come on, Starbrite, don't some teams STILL use carbureted engines instead of fuel injection, and other ancient, far-from-optimized tech on their cars? Surely, NASCAR is deliberately (very) old school. Surely someone who thinks he is as smart and knowledgable as you seem to think you are, knows NASCAR is a terrible example.
To the best of my knowledge, higher profile tires, yielding higher aspect ratios, are suited optimally only for DRAG RACING. NOT overall performance, and not on a street car. THAT is why all modern high performance cars use low profile tires; not drag radials.
You criticize and insult, but, you never say yourself, Stargazer, why modern high performance cars admittedly use low profile tires. Do you honestly believe they simply don't know as well as you do, Startrek? If so, why don't YOU put forth your technical/engineering argument -- AND don't hold back on the physics; I have some undergrad-level background, at least, on that subject. Go ahead and explain why high profile tires are superior for high performance street cars, and yet, why car and tire manufacturers have abandoned them. WHY, indeed, have the folks making Porsches, Corvettes, Camaro ZL1s and SS models, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Vipers et al. gotten it all wrong for so long? And all the tire manufacturers as well! Straighten us all out on this, oracle Starbuck.
Finally, Master Star, what do YOU drive, anyway? I'm dying to know what someone with your tremendous knowledge and generosity -- generosity in your being willing to "dumb it down" for ME (analogous to an ant presuming to condescend to a Nobel Laureate) -- rolls in. A '74 Nova with a 2 barrel small block, and high profile, bias-ply tires? A stock slant six Duster with Hoosiers? I can't wait.
