Scott, Great insight to the emotional side of cutting wood. I can relate. A log is like a box of chocolates. Having had wood cut from my own trees and recently cutting some myself, there is always that moment when you look at a piece and say to yourself: "I can use that for something... I can always throw it out later..." After it wastes space in your wood pile for a year and you get around to it again, you end up throwing a lot away. Keep making good videos and sharing your experience!

I do the same thing still, but I am getting better. I try to only keep it if I know I can sell it. I make a lot of friends by getting rid of wood.
Appreciate your descriptions in terms of grading. More complicated than I would have ever thought.
There are a lot of details, but most of it comes down to how the lumber looks. Construction lumber is graded by strength, hardwoods by appearance.
This is really helpful, Scott. Thanks
You are most welcome, and thanks for watching.
