@kaydee4296. They are all on the payroll of developers. Los Angeles might be the most corrupt city in America. Few are ever held accountable. Always been like that too.
I had forgotten about Kristin Jeanette-Meyers. I had no clue what happened to her. Tragic. This is why I love your channel, Scott. You talk about stuff I didn’t know I wanted to know. ❤
Scott, you’re the best! If I had oodles of cash to give away, I would hire you for a week to show me all around Los Angeles and listen to your stories. I’ve been a fan for sometime now and I’m always excited to listen to a new story. Cheers from Santa Barbara, CA😊
She was deceased for six weeks, how strange that no one checked up on her. I can guess her daughter was with their father. Very sad. The Pom Pom cafe, love to see and hear about places like that, places long gone. The man who was executed only a year after he was charged. Amazing how fast things were done back then.
Thank you again Scott for your dedication to all these stories & historic places. Without you and Troys work on these angles, we'd be seeing a great loss. No one seems to care. Yet you both do! Thank goodness 😉
That building at 5901 Melrose was a really pretty building back in the day. Sad what all took place there. I'm glad they caught and put away that serial killer so he couldn't hurt anyone else. It sounds like the judge made the right decision. What a sad tale about the CNN reporter. I remember her from all those trials, (back when CNN was good, in my opinion). Like you said Scott, one day she was just gone and never saw her again. I had no idea what became of her. Maybe because I no longer lived in Southern California any longer. Such a shame that happened to her. Thank you for always sharing such interesting stories. I always find history so fascinating. :)
Thanks Scott for another outstanding video bringing history alive once again. The "death" of some of the locations as well as humans you feature deserve to be preserved in our memory. I hope the Pom Pom building will be restored rather than torn down. Far too many architecturally significant buildings in this country are permitted to be destroyed and replaced with banal structures all in the name of profit. I haven't seen anything built in the past 60-70yrs that is memorable or possessing one iota of design aesthetics that will stand the test of time. The last great wave of design was MCM buildings and homes that are being systematically razed with ugly boxes and McMansions taking their place. When we stop seeing or mentioning these people and places they will forever be lost.
Hi Scott!!! Love seeing the old locations when you show us. I loved this upload!!! Right up my alley. One thing that never changes, sadly, is death. And it can be very cruel. It upsets me to see so many historical places torn down. ☹️ Thank you Scott!!! Never a dull upload 😊
I dreamed of visiting LA once even thought about moving g there. I'm glad I came to Texas instead. Except in the summertime. It's the devils armpit. Now I am much older and don't get around as much. I am so happy you do this cause without you so much of LA's history would just be gone without a trace. Thanks for the tour, Scott. Please dont stop.
I lived right next door at 584 N Gower St. 1975 - 1984. That home was completely renovated around 1977(8?) if I recall correctly. Its occupants included a couple of younger hoodlum types which would set off fireworks/firecrackers at all hours of the night amongst other troubled activity like loud arguments and blaring music with total disregard for anyone. They were also somehow complicit with the robbery of the hamburger stand on the southwest corner of Gower and Melrose (I believe it was Star burger). Needless to say, they were not liked much. Sad story, Scott. Thanks for the upload.
It looks like it was once a beautiful house, but now looks very run-down on google maps. I'm not familiar with LA, so I don't know much about that neighborhood.
@@Katrinawitch Mid class. No homes in that area are under $2M, most are 2.5 and up. It is an Hancock Park adjacent area. As I'd mentioned. When I lived there, it was completely renovated in the late 70's and was gorgeous. A tragic shame on all counts.
I know it's going to be a good day and I'll be totally entertained when you post new videos. Thank you for all the extremely hard work you put in to entertain and educate us.
I read a lengthy story about Kristin Jeannette-Myers in the LA Times and it was so horrifying and sad. A truly tragic end to what was such a promising career and life.
My goodness, Scott!! This was brilliant. I’m glad to know about the newscaster, Kristen. What a sad, tragic story. You answered the questions I had. And “Pom Pom” room. That name is so intriguing , and actually, I love it! Thank you for bringing me a comforting feeling again… just watching this and hearing your voice!❤❤
These newspaper articles are a hoot and a half. I couldn't even imagine a headline today describing someone as an "attractive blonde" or a classified ad with a job requirement of must "be cute". Oh, how times have changed.
Excellent video, Scott. Glatman was a savage, indeed. I'm a deep devotee of your Matchbook Video Series. I just recently got a vintage "Coach & Horses" matchbook.....it's a Barbara Payton thing, for me. What?......did someone say "Barbara Payton?!?"...... * hint hint * LOL Keep up the fabulous channel, Scott....!! 😃
How often do you try to contact the owner, or realtor selling the building too see if you can walk through the inside? Love your channel by the way. Great videos!
I am so happy you covered this story. I have been waiting for someone to do this. I even found the apartment he lived in off Sunset (I think), and at the time it was listed for rent. I read Rope back when it came out. It was a Newton book written late 90's I believe. I wrote this comment freehand without looking anything up, but I think I'm half-accurate. Just going by memory. Really creepy 1957/58 story.
I just hang on every word of your vlogs. So much interesting information that most of us wouldn't learn of if it weren't for you. Thank you for what you do. Nancy H.
Watching your uploads reminds me of how insignificant we all are and all have our little role to play on the stage of that short theater play called life in our time.
Hi Scott. What a fascinating video with such tragic stories. Thank you for sharing it with us. Keep up the great work! You look like you’ve lost some weight. You look great 😊
Such horrible tragic stories lurk in the SoCal area. Why if the news reporter had a caretaker did it take 6 weeks to find her? Sounds suspicious to me!!
I absolutely love and enjoy all of your videos they are always so respectful and detailed very well you do great research please keep them coming safe travels
+Is this the place were they filmed the army surplus store scene from,"Falling Down"? Or the store front for Rays music store in the blues brothers? Because it sure looks like them.
No, Rays was in Chicago and Falling Down was on Sunset. I do believe it was in an episode of True Crime, but I haven't been able to locate it, or I'd have included it. Thanks for watching!
I love 'driving around LA' with you. Thanks Scott. The most shocking thing was Free Parking.
The LA City Council literally SALIVATES at any chance to tear down and destroy any hint of historical architecture in town.
@kaydee4296. They are all on the payroll of developers. Los Angeles might be the most corrupt city in America. Few are ever held accountable. Always been like that too.
Thank you for filming old locations that might be gone one day. Preserving history
Major respect & admiration for these criminal gems.
Yes indeed!😢
it's California it won't be there long they love destroying history
Gentrification has been on the uptick since 2017-2024. Vine Street, Hollywood Blvd, Sunset Blvd..
She had a caregiver but laid there dead for six weeks in filth, makes no sense!!
I had forgotten about Kristin Jeanette-Meyers. I had no clue what happened to her. Tragic. This is why I love your channel, Scott. You talk about stuff I didn’t know I wanted to know. ❤
Found after 6 weeks?! Shows how isolated she was.
Looks like a really nice Art Deco building. What a shame.
Well that California, they ain’t saving those beautiful buildings. 🙃

LA was the city of dreams & death.
Sad that all of the old Art Deco buildings are being destroyed at such a rapid pace.
It's so awful it really should be a crime art deco buildings are beautiful and should be preserved
Tragic
I agree ... 😩
Thanks for showing Hollywood so much and show history. you keep it alive.
I absolutely LOVE these old Hollywood/LA videos!! Fascinating!
Thank you again Scott for your dedication to all these stories & historic places. Without you and Troys work on these angles, we'd be seeing a great loss. No one seems to care. Yet you both do! Thank goodness 😉
Please do more of these Scott. They are so interesting and well presented!

Judge was Right, back in the DAY when our Justice System was still INTACT!
I agree with your assessment of CNN. It was good. Now it's trash. More like a tabloid. Not trustworthy.
Much swifter justice, in my opinion!

Another great video!!!Everything is being torn down now 😔 The whole Westside is becoming unrecognizable. Thank you for doing these videos ❤
Extremely interesting as usual, keep up the good work!
thank you for your videos...always good stuff and a history lesson...

Right Scott, love the old telephone exchange names/letters. In NJ growing up, mine was GENEVA/G.
Thanks.
Always look forward to your stories!
it is always sad to see historic places torn down. How said for Kristin Jeanette-Meyers, RIP
Hi Scott! Great video as always x much love! ❤
Thank you. This was a good video.
I was just thinking it’s time for a Scott upload! 💕🐿

I read a lengthy story about Kristin Jeannette-Myers in the LA Times and it was so horrifying and sad. A truly tragic end to what was such a promising career and life.
It certainly went south quickly.
She might have been okay if she would have just stuck to her news reporting and left the other rubbish alone
Great job! I didn’t know the story about the news lady
Thoroughly enjoyed this vlog 👌 ,keep them coming, Scott and Troy, please .
They should have called it "The pawn pawn shop"
I love these videos, but it upsets me that the powers that be won't leave the historical buildings alone. I know it's progress, but still. 😢
Excellent work. Thanks for the local, and in-depth history.
thank u scott. peace from oregon
Another great video!…..great job Scott!

They literally have top SEXIEST WOMEN articles all the time.
All very interesting! Thanks, Scott! 🙂
luv your Hollywood stories Scott, sad that another iconic building to be bulldozed
Matchbook and True Crime are far and away my favorite segments on this channel.
Very sad about her death.thank you for this information.

Great video, stories and memories. Thanks Scott
That's unusual @ 5 :17 to see that yellow Ford Fairmont drive by, I'm surprised it's still running and apparently passed smog after all these years.
Gosh cocktail waitresses totally naked serving drinks to men, that has to have been illegal even in 1961. What a recipe for disaster.
I've always found it interesting that in CA you can have a topless bar, but you cannot sell alcohol. It's a bizarre law.
Oh boy
@@DearlyDepartedToursI think it’s to prevent things from getting out of hand - to put it nicely. The movie The Accused comes to mind.
I don't see how. Drunk is drunk.
@@DearlyDepartedTours I agree, a guy buys a couple of drinks which makes him attack a dancer. I bet a lot of men go there already loaded...
Just got home aaaaaaaaaand he's baaaaaaaaaccckkk!!! So pumped for the episode, good to see you again scott!!!
How do you find all this obscure information? It’s incredibly interesting.
I enjoyed everything about this vlog including the old Internationa Scout that appeared at about 5:56. Good work!
Thank You, your videos are always so informative and interesting, keep up the good work!
That last story 😢I hope she’s resting in peace.
Thanx, Scott 💜 Well done

"Cut Rate Drugs' LOL
Thank you. Good stuff.
Thank you so much Scott, great historical information from you. That bldg is huge. Hey Scott did you call David Oman back? He left voicemail 😊❤
Thanks for sharing…!
Hi Scott. What a fascinating video with such tragic stories. Thank you for sharing it with us. Keep up the great work! You look like you’ve lost some weight. You look great 😊
The place was Brothers Pawn Shop the owners were very nice wow I didn't know
“The last person to see her alive was the process server” ranks right up there with “For Sale: baby shoes, never worn.” on the depression meter. :/
Such horrible tragic stories lurk in the SoCal area. Why if the news reporter had a caretaker did it take 6 weeks to find her? Sounds suspicious to me!!
You never know what kind of insane behavior went on in some those grand old houses . . .
I really enjoy watching your videos
I love your videos. Scott wishing you the best.
Wow never heard of this story thanks for sharing! Love these old murder stories
Very interesting stories about my city, and all well told.
I adore you Scott, please don't ever go away =)

Interesting video Scott, Cheers 🤍✨✨
good one
Yay!! A new Scott video!!
Scott's great video, I really enjoyed this video.
I hope they preserve the old buildings for future generations.
The match books are very interesting are you sent them and are certain ones valuable?
Thank you
Great Video...
Fascinating Stuff Scott 🎙🎶🥂
