Thank you for hanging out Kristin and yes you are right but my situation is a little different. This was obviously a complete disaster and my depression is the main reason for it. I was neglectful in the daily maintenance of staying on top of my son to do the things he should do. I honestly just could not deal with another thing during this time and so I just ignored it everyday and didn't bother to say anything about it. My son is 12 and Autistic and so he has trouble with executive functioning and needs reminders and micromanaging. With the mess being this bad I just decided to take it on myself so I did not have to be bothered with telling him what to do and all of that. Besides he couldn't have done what need to be done thoroughly. However, I am happy to say that we have a good routine going now since cleaning this disaster and I refuse to ever let it get to that point again. He has a good pick up system daily and I make sure to stay on top of it so we keep it together. But I get it and thank you for your advice. I appreciate you being here! God bless!

@@MightyMama I hope I didn’t offend you. Autism is tough. My brother has it, too. It definitely makes things easier to just do it yourself, I understand. I’m being treated for depression, as well, but it’s nothing near your experience. I’m so happy to see you have the strength to get going again. I love watching you transform your home. Hugs!

Our first instinct is to just get it done... But like you I have 2 kids with autism. They do "TRASH, DISHES, LAUNDRY" in their rooms, the hallway and their bathroom. After that its pretty easy do-tos. My motto is "you do what works".

My son has ASD as well... he doesn't like getting rid of ANYTHING so declutteringis not a thing unless i do it by myself, and then I feel guilty! Will you share how you established the routine with him? How "involved" are u in the routine? When i sit and "supervise" i tend do still end up doing most of it. LOL
And you GO GIRL you got into the nitty gritty!

my mom has suffered with anxiety, depression, ocd and a number of mental illnesses for most of her life. before my parents divorced, the mental and verbal abuse my mom endured from my dad made it unbearable for her to keep the maintenance of the house or us kids.. now looking back, i wish i had helped so much more. but now i'm 19 i try my best to do a good deal of cleaning and helping my mom in general. thank you for showing this, it really shows how hard moms work, and please never feel like mental illness makes you less of a mother. it is such a feat to tackle your own mental tolls and to take care of your family. much love!!!!!

Hi Isabella! You are an amazing young lady and your Mama is so lucky to have you! You are the proff thag she is an amazing Mama! I am sorry she had to endure such abuse and with mental illness. It makes lofe si much more harder to deal with on the daily. And I am also so sorry thatbyou had to live through that hardship as well. I come from a very disfunctional childhood and it is definitely part of the reason for my mental illness. Eventually I will tell that story too. I am happy you found me Isabella! Please tell your mom about my channel I would love to be here for both of you and help to mitivate! I can so relate. God bless & stay Mighty! 💪🦋🙏🤎

That is wonderful how you are so young and help mom in her daily usual struggle with mess and stuff, believe me, not only because she is given too much of a burden of her own mental health problems, but simply because it makes you a better person, more ready for life, for your new family later on. Cleaning is not always just a chore. It can be a kind of self reflexion, time for your music, dance moves, unwinding a bit of the built up stress... But if you are lucky to do it side by side with your mom, cherish those moments. Best wishes to you and mom. Hope she feels a bit better having such a nice daughter next to her.

When my room looked like this when I was younger, my mom would throw everything out of my shelves on the floor+bed and I had to clean everything up alone. When I was about 6-8, she would help me but I always had to stay with her together the whole time. Has helped me a lot to learn about what it means to keep my room clean

My anxiety was through the roof when I came back from my honeymoon and my room was a wreck but I managed to get it clean. And my mom has trouble too and I help clean her house as much as I can. I’ve cleaned her bedroom and did three loads of dishes, a load of laundry, and next time I visit her, I’m gonna help her with my 11 year old sisters room, it’s a mess!! But watching these videos are all the motivation I need, thank you

Thanks for the encouragement. I have noticed, even 15 minutes or 5 minutes makes a difference. So during those times when I'm anxious, depressed, or otherwise unmotivated, I try to just give at least 5 or 10 minutes a day to an area, and let that be enough. Instead of doing all or nothing, I have to be satisfied with just doing SOMETHING. 🙂

Fifteen minutes daily is much better than nothing, and those fifteen minutes might overlap into half an hour of great work! Unfortunately, atm I cannot even accomplish 15 minutes but there is only me here to pick up after daily, but there is usually a houseful of family each weekend. Depression and anxiety is terrible and takes away the joy in life and your ability to properly care for yourself. Great job on this cleaning video and your understanding!!

I am a disabled veteran who suffers from horrendous depression and severe panic attacks. I work full time in a very physical and stressful environment (a hospital laundry) and when I get home the last thing I want to do is ANYTHING.
I hate the way I let my home gets and then wonder what's wrong with me that I don't care. That IS the depression and anxiety talking. I am so happy I found your channel. You let me and others know that we are not alone, that it is not our fault, and we can get it together and keep it that way. I take 15 minutes at a clip. 15 minutes work, 15 minutes relax, 15 minutes work....

Maybe you can have them go through and declutter. Otherwise, you can just rent a dumpster or have a donation truck scheduled for a pick up. You shouldn't feel so stressed. When my mom realized that I was out of control as a teenager, it was AMAZING to come home to a room that was reset after school. she knew the balance between, "this is your responsibility" and "I'm here to help you grow up and learn how to handle life." This is an incredible gift to your son to help him reset and set him up for success.

I have severe depression and honestly, all those cleaning channels where they're working with a borderline show-level room honestly made me feel worse about everything. I get so overwhelmed by where to start on Up days that I just can't, and the cycle starts over again 🙃 It is so, SO affirming to see someone who understands getting through it. Thank you!

Hello! I am so happy you found me! I think you are amazing just by your comment! I can tell who people are just by their words whether spoken or written or technically typed ( I am sure you can appreciate that analogy) lol! My son is actually Asperger's too! Although, didn't they remove that dx from the DSM which I do not agree with? Let me know if you know of that or did they list it again. Either way he is Asperger's too and he was very happy with his room after I cleaned it and he has been following a good daily cleaning routine to maintain it and it is going great! I am so happy my video offered you that satisfaction! I hope you will come again to watch more. I have a new one coming out tomorrow! Please consider subscribing to get your therapy here! Lol! I have lots of good cleaning videos and I am going to be moving in minimalist direction soon. I first needed to clean the messes. Stay tuned for those videos coming soon! God bless & Stay Mighty!🦋💪🏻

Start with a trashbag. Trash or recyclables should be one of the easiest items to identify. Then maybe clothes/laundry. Easy successes to get a starting point and to get the momentum started.
Maybe check out Cass from the channel "Clutterbug", her videos might help you as well. ☺
      Best wishes to you 🍀

I usually start first with gathering stuff that I want out of the house, that gives room for the next step, organizing what I want to keep using cubbies and organizers that I allready have. Try not to spend money on anything new unless you absolutely have to. Every day when time is convenient pick messy spot in the house and purge hard, than work it to your satisfaction.

Hi, I totally understand the debilitating effects of anxiety and depression, with some days it being difficult to even rouse oneself from bed (I have that "luxury" as I'm now living alone). Since my beloved husband passed last August, there is nobody now relying on me and cleaning isn't even on my radar. Anyone suffering with anxiety has my very best wishes to overcome that. 🤩

Declutter. Less STUFF helps with anxiety so much. If it’s not played with, used or needed get rid of it. I’ve found cleaning out all the extra clutter relieves my mind. I teach autistic and have a son with adhd. With both lots of stuff overwhelms them also. Less is more with any imbalance or disorder.

I had to justvstart with small steps because it was so overwhelming just to begin but I appreciate your advice and you being here! i hope you will stick around and subscribe to see my house transformation! I appreciate your honesty! I lost my house a year ago due to 4 surgeries, both eyes and both hands. Rules for eyes, dont bend over and dont pick anything up. Each eye was 6 weeks of those rules. I had 1 week then hand surgeries, rules were to not pick anything up and the pain was awful. I live alone so i still had to function but it was just existing. I also have never got my things all sorted and unpacked. I have too much!!! It is difficult to get rid of stuff!!! Im also a quilter, sewist, crafter and Junk Journaler. Each one has a stash of stuff. Your video is encouraging me to keep working at it.....🎉

My depression got so bad I used to let it get horrendous on weekends and maintained little during the week of cleanup. Single mom of 2 and full time working with autistic children its exhausting. I love watching these videos and been able to maintain my place and work on places little by little decluttering and feeling the weight off me each day so I can focus on the important things like maintaining my anxiety depression and PTSD and being with my kids

Hi I'm Carol. I suffer from anxiety & depression so I understand completely how things go with cleaning. I used to be a neat freak and I still hate clutter but after having my Achilles repaired and a couple other surgeries on my foot I wasn't able to clean and do the everyday chores that needed to be done. I have the greatest most passionate and understanding hubby who still helps more than he should. It was such a long recovery with the surgery and depression was horrible with not being able to walk and do Cleaning was just overwhelming. It's still a struggle but videos like these truly help motivate me. Thanks for sharing and God bless you and your family.

Thx for sharing. Health issues and depression. And we are about to remodel our entire house. It takes everything in my power just to wash dishes. 2 surgeries on my foot. It hurts! Plus I’m a recovering Alcohol Addict. Almost one year! Just found you. You are awesome! God bless you girl and I’m fixing to put on some Christian tunes and clean my “dump station room”. Sons old bedroom. Can only do 30 min at a time. He’s 32, and doesn’t live here. But it’s about to all get thrown out girl if he doesn’t come and get it. Watching this video is getting me PUMPED UP! I always clean better with uplifting music! Cell phone goes on silent! Keep up the good work. Sometimes a good Prayer and some alone time will recharge my batteries! Prayers for everyone s health issues!

My kids are in their 40's. My husband and I worked full time when the kids were young. The rule was if we had to pick it up, it would live in the trunk of the
car. Then take a big bag and put the stuff where the kid can't get it. After a couple weeks, he will clean up. I have responsible adults. Tina

Candice! I am here for you! I am so sorry that you are going through so much at once. I will definitleynadd you to my prayer list! I want you to know that you have the power within you to do whatever you need to be done. Start small and keep going! You deserve happiness and peace. It is up to you to make that change and while I know oh! I really know how darn hard it is!! It can be done! You can do the little things now to lead to bigger things later. Take your time and start small. Are you able to stand? If not you can always pull a chair up to an area or sit on a pillow on the floor to go through paperwork or piles of junk you need to clear out and donate. Just an idea. Also, for the insomnia (I get it occasionally too). Its the worsr because then it spikes my anxiery and I could go into panic attacks so I have found lemon balm tea to work and creating a real nightrime routine that I do exactly the same way and at the exact same time each night. As lomg as I am in bed at that time and with my lemon balm tea by Traditional Medicinals. Be sure to turn off your wifi on your phone!! This is key and put the phone in a drawer. I use this time ro write a list snd unload all of my thoughts. Usually between the tea and the writing I get sleepy and can turn over and pass out. It takes practice but I am in this groove and it makes all the difference in your days both physically and mentally. I hope you have joined rhe joureny here! I have a new video up tomorrow for ya. Try and get something done. You can clean along with me! You can do this! You have what it takes! Do what you can and see where it takes you! And I want you to drop me a comment letting me know what you were able to do! I will be looking for you Candice!🤣🤣 You can do it girl!!💪🦋🙏 Stay Mighty! God bless!

I break it up into multiple sessions per day that last about 10-15 minutes each so that I won't get overwhelmed and everything looks SO much better. I already feel like my mental state is improving. I even made a new library area for all of my books!😀. I've already made huge progress today and will continue tomorrow, so I'm giving myself time to relax and eat dinner. I plan on decluttering and improving my gaming area tomorrow and who knows what else I'll tackle after that.

Loving your videos! They really inspire me and get me going!
I am not diagnosed with anxiety or depression (maybe because I have not go to a health professional for it), but I can relate so much with what you express about how you feel and how hard it is most of times to get oneself to do what needs to be done to break the depress-mess-overwhelm cycle.
Day after day, I suffer more by mentally torturing myself by silently repeating that I have lots of things to do (and getting overwhelmed) than by actually doing them. It feels so incredibly good and awesome when the house is relatively cleaned and organized.
Thanks for opening up and sharing part of your life with us! Stay blessed.
