Wow, Jason!.... Your videos just get better and better. Last week it was waterfalls, this week you are tree-hugging. Completely envious of your laid-back adventurous lifestyle. Happy Trails, Buddy. 👍🏻
Thanks. The number of times I try to get shots of birds and the take off before I can get them in frame...😂 That was the best shot of a Blue Wren I've ever managed.
Hi Jason , thoroughly enjoy your wanderings ....18 months to go for me before I start my own journey .. dont know much about NSW where you wonder but cant wait to investigate ..
Thanks Charlie! I bet you're counting down the days until you can hit the road. So good when you have no time pressure to be anywhere other than right where you are at the time 😁
@MakingStuffGoingPlaces well you my friend need to assist your mum .. from what I can observe.. By the way ...how can donate to your journey . Couldn't see the link that was near before
I took the link off. Really appreciate the thought, but I've managed to get my financial situation in good control now, so didn't want to mislead people as I did say things were tight at the start of the year. Fortunately not the case now.☺️
Morning. More beautiful places and amazing drone shots. I know Laurieton (Grandma lived there) but not so much the other places. Didn't see any towns in your videos today...would have said it was peaceful but oh my the Cicadas and flying foxes!!
What a great compilation - you are getting the hang of that drone now and your camera/sound is a lot better these days. Love seeing the places i have already visited with fresh eyes too -
Funny little mishap with the drone at the start lol. Good to see the rest area I suggested. I didn’t realise it was so un level. I stayed on someone’s property that was close to the rest area so I didn’t stay there, but I saw it on one of the camping groups or maybe even Wiki camps, I can’t remember. Since my surgery I’ve been using a wedge to put myself on an angle when I sleep so the angled parking wouldn’t worry me lol. Laurieton looks gorgeous. My bucket list is getting a lot longer thanks to you lol. The tree that was only half connected to the ground was amazing! There are so many gorgeous trees out there! I really want to touch that massive fig tree at Wingham too lol. Fig trees are so special! The Mother & baby bat were adorable!! The lake in Cattai wetlands with all the water lillies was gorgeous too!
I think that since John's River is so close to Laurieton, you'd be better off staying in Laurieton. Certainly a nicer spot for the day. It's funny, I often sleep against a pillow to stop me rolling over, so sloping site are a bonus for me too 😂
Seems all these coastal towns have something cool about them, it is great to check them out, Thanks Jason! I have to stop more instead of driving past!! Nabiac has got a great Community Pool, it's Heated & Free to all. Pub has good cheap counter meals too.
I am always a bit nervous myself when I arrive at a place with fruit bats. Love them but their business is not pleasant to deal with! I’m sure you’ve done it but just in case, the next time you head north again go a little inland and take the Thunderbolt way. It’s a beautiful drive and leads you up to Dorrigo and then continue the scenic drive down waterfall way. Stunning area, and drive - do it slow, heaps to see and do. Thanks for the video. I enjoyed seeing your confused flying dog 😅
😂 the drone is hilarious when it gets lost. That second time it lost me on the windy path, when it saw me again it came running and smacked straight into a tree 😂 I definitely have Dorrigo, Barrington and Tappin tops all in my list of places I need to go. That will take a few weeks, I think! Not sure I'll make it this summer though.
Spring/summer is a good time to do it. The Tops and New England do get a lot of rain hence why they are lush green places. Watch out for leeches after the wet, they are everywhere. Even in the dry the soil can still be rather moist. New England is spectacular. Don’t miss. Barrington Tops has a lot dirt roads, be careful is the wet. Sorry you have to go back to Sydney. I head down Wed myself to see family etc…
@Tony-f5q sounds good! Spring might be the go...while it's still moist, but no longer freezing cold 😁 Hope you have a good drive down. Plenty of nice places along the way if you have the time.
Enjoying your videos we often Holiday at North Haven love it we are from west Lake Macquarie Wangi Wangi pop in some time when passing through it’s a lovely little place right on the lake cheers 😊
Terrific video Jason. That soothing background music from time to time really suits the scene. The macro footage of the flower at the pond was incredible. Were you using a GoPro? I always look forward to Wednesday and Saturday mornings, coffee (and a second one) in hand watching your adventures. Thank you as always for your great videos. Cheers, Sean.
Thanks Sean. I need to search for some more music....I think I've used everything I have at least twice now 😂 The water Lilly close up was with the Lumix. On the tripod and zoomed in. Most the time it does quite well, though it struggled with the flying foxes....so annoying the mother and baby shot was out of focus...had to include it thought.
Beautiful footage of the water lilies, birds and bats. And the drone trying to take you out! Re the no aircon- was there a reason you decided not to have one? Your van has pretty much everything else 😊 I’m not great with the heat so probs wouldn’t work for me but you seem to manage it fine. Thanks again Jason for all the time you put in your making these excellent vids for us
Thank you! 😊 To run Air con on batteries requires a LOT of battery capacity. Typically when you have AC it runs on 240V and as I never stay in caravan parks.....
I like how you included the footage of your dron "stood its ground, not to follow you", then you realised and went back to get its focus 😅 I think it did that again when you had your first bike ride, right? I do like that feature, i.e. as long as it behaves 😂 But at the back of my mind, I do worry about if a sudden strong wind that caught you off guard and it got stuck between branches or hit something that you're not able to get it back 😮 12:39 You prefer real Chinese food over Australia Chinese food?
The drone is almost like a stupid dog. Never comes when it's called, but excited when it sees your face 😂 There was a day where it refused to land on my hand and would jump up higher instead. I had to jump up and grab it to get it back 😂 If it gets totally out of control, I can connect to it with my phone and switch it to manual control to get it back. But yeah, it could still launch itself into a tree.... actually did the 3rd time it stopped following, but fell to the ground. Some Aus Chinese food can be nice, but definitely different to real Chinese. The Szechuan Chicken I had there was good. Very sweet.... I think I could hear the chef speaking Cantonese....they do food sweeter down south 😁
I'm assuming you have 2 different drones as I don't imagine the little one that follows would get the beautiful higher altitude shots? Looks like a lovely area, although most of the spots you can visit wouldn't entertain my 40foot bus, it's great to get an idea of the different areas. Funny how you love the nature so much 😂😊 & I agree, those feathered alarm clocks work well
It's actually the same drone! It does pretty well given how small it is. It does struggle when the wind gets up though....you'll see some of the high shots get shakey at times. I always wanted to do a bus when I started thinking of this life. But glad I went small. This vans even smaller than my last and it does make it a lot more flexible. Works well for me 🙂
@@MakingStuffGoingPlaces Lol. Thought so. I'm looking at getting one myself, and after watching your video, think I now will. All the best on your adventures.
Absolutely gorgeous scenery man, your filming is fantastic!
Thankyou very much! So many beautiful places to find 😁
The drone footage is really getting impressive. Had a chuckle watching the drone get confused when following you!
Thanks!
Not sure everyone will get the funny side of the drone getting lost 😂. It's like a little dog....looking around trying to find me.
@@MakingStuffGoingPlaces I actually thought "oh it's like a dog!!" Was funny you telling it to come
@DaisyLarson4936 😂 it's hilarious when it spots me and comes running
Wow, Jason!.... Your videos just get better and better.

😂 thanks Peter.
Loving life...and the occassional tree 😁
Thank you for another terrific journey!
Thanks Elaine. My pleasure 😊
The close ups of the birds and the bees were great and the follow me was funny. A lot of other good stuff in this video too.
Thanks. The number of times I try to get shots of birds and the take off before I can get them in frame...😂
That was the best shot of a Blue Wren I've ever managed.
Thanks Jason, thoroughly enjoy your journeys!
Thanks Josephine 🙂
Nice to have you following along.

What a great compilation - you are getting the hang of that drone now and your camera/sound is a lot better these days. Love seeing the places i have already visited with fresh eyes too -
Thanks Ben. Certainly takes a lot more time to produce these videos, but everyone appreciates it which is great 😁
So glad you made it to Wingham brush. I live just round the river bend from there.
That was a good idea, Annie. Thanks 👍😊
Can't believe how many bats are in there!

True.... there's not too many towns so far that I haven't liked.
I almost went via Nabiac, but have gone back along the coast....
I checked online, Nabiac community pool is not free, it has a $5 casual swim entry fee.
@lynettejwhite not bad though.
Lovely video with my morning coffee. Very enjoyable, bats and all. Thanks Jason.
All the best from NZ

No worries I will be looking for the Wangi Wangi video 😊
😂 no pressure 😜

Love the video. Is that the DJI NEO Drone you're using? It had me in stitches as it attempted to follow you.
Thanks. Yes, Neo. It doesn't like me going too fast 😂😂
It went for the head when I came back to it.... obviously not happy with me....
@@MakingStuffGoingPlaces Lol. Thought so. I'm looking at getting one myself, and after watching your video, think I now will. All the best on your adventures.
@Solex74 the bigger drones have much better picture quality, but the following modes and the price of the Neo....hard to go past.
👍
Thanks mate
You want to get the bat poop off, it’s a paint stripper
Hmmmm....good point! Job for today.
Do you have any regrets about the van life?
Absolutely not! Best thing I've every done 😁
Sure, there's hard times, but you get that being couped up in a house too.... probably more so.
Kookaburras think everything's funny apparently. Just you pay them no mind.
😂😂 I must admit my sense of humour isn't the best at 5am.
wash off the bat poo it well eat your paint
Thanks! Carwash today....
