The Holy Child of Atocha is a Roman Catholic devotional figure that is particularly venerated in Spain and Latin America. According to legend, the Holy Child appeared to a young boy in Atocha, Spain, bringing him food and drink while he was imprisoned. The boy's mother prayed to the Virgin Mary, who sent the child to comfort her son. Since then, the Holy Child has been associated with miracles and is often depicted carrying a basket of bread and a water gourd. The Holy Child of Atocha is the patron saint of travelers and is celebrated on December 9th in Spain.
