In my case she physically abandoned me as a culmination of refusing to do her inner work and living from fear and ego while I tried and tried to help her, draining and hurting myself.
But I ended up withdrawing a lot of the energy and love I was sending during separation.
Supposedly she is finally waking up because of this though. Who knows.

It’s not easy to withdraw from them.. it’s actually quite a difficult, confusing, and painful process.. but we need to remind ourselves that we put in our best shot and presented our best selves, everything else is unfortunately out of our control. one thing we can be happy about is putting ourselves first! seeing our value and not settling or taking no disrespect. the universe has our back, friend. and although hard, we are being guided to what we are truly seeking.
and like you said, withdrawing may just might be a wake up call for that person..
