- Rapper or Rockstar? Both. The Philly rapper Lil Uzi Vert has found his zone musically and attributes it to just being natural in every way. Whether in the booth ripping through a few bangers like “Queso” with Wiz Khalifa or switching up his hair color on a daily basis, he is showing what it truly means to be comfortable as an artist.
Uzi stopped by Sway in the Morning to hang out with the crew discussing the potential of XXL upcoming coveted Freshman cover but it’s not something he’s concerned about, one more focused on the creative freedom that comes with being a proclaimed rockstar. While he admits to being influenced by Chief Keef, there is a well drawn line between jacking a sound and influence - good to see that value still in young artists. That’s probably what led him to working with Don Cannon, it was a perfect balance between future sounds and current flavor.

Uzis an entertainer. He doesn't got lyrical shit at all but it's still fun to hear. It's good to have a balance in hip hop. If hip hop was just all lyric driven then it would not be as popular as it is, and if hip was all about entertaining beats and no lyrics, then it would get stale and repetitive. Sway is one of the most versatile radio personalities there is. He seriously adjusts and adapts, he loves Hip-Hop for the culture but is able to appreciate the new rappers coming about now. A lot of older guys slander and shoot down the new rappers but he actually is interested and can appreciate it. It would be better if others in radio weren't so harsh and judgmental. The 90's were great and I miss it but it's now gone. This newer music has its own prominence. Lil Uzi Vert is nice
