I remember the tab book from 86 that you mentioned wasn't completely horrible but man o man did they have the breakdown riff wrong!!! "Why am I dying" riff. I'm glad you pointed that out. Hey Uncle Ben, what about that doodle Kirk does right before the "back to the front" part? It always sounded all over the place and with a weird harmony to me. Can you clarify?
That's a B Phrygian type of lick, with some descending chromatics thrown in, giving a slight Bebop feel. He's foreshadowing James A/A#/B chromatic fifths that Ben covered for that section before the "back to the front" mention comes in.
2 little misses. First is the main theme picking is on the E power chord not just open E...too easy. Second is the 16th note riff pull off is preceded by a quick C power chord. Great job quickly explaining all the riffs. You did help me on the transition lick...although i’m not sure they use the A twice on that. 😃
Surely you mean a quick C# power chord, if C# is the note you're chugging on before doing a pull-off from D? (Then a quick B power chord when chugging on B/pulling off C, etc)
Although having just listened to the isolated rhythm track (where I can't hear the quick power chord you're referring to) and then gone back and listened again to the whole song, I wonder if what you're hearing is some snare hits, which occur at exactly that point just before the pull-offs (and possibly cover roughly the same frequency range as the power chords)?
It's been noted the Mustainisms in a couple of these riffs; paraphrased, and/or copied, verbatim. The middle-break in "Leper Messiah" is Dave's chord progression, all the way.😂

@@BenEller started learning it... yeah it's hard....
Never ending story theme intro!!
no shit shurlock but alot of us started using the old "wolf marshall" tabs but most of us had a good ear for music because we listened to metallica every single day and we played along with al of their songs and we learned to play it better than what the TABS showed us.at least i did.
Thanks uncle Ben
Awesome dude!
@3:35 I think that pull off showed up again later in Dyers Eve
Please Battery main riff
Imagine playing this song while singing. James is a freaking god
Coming close to 200k bruh
Hey Uncle Ben, what about that doodle Kirk does right before the "back to the front" part? It always sounded all over the place and with a weird harmony to me. Can you clarify?
That's a B Phrygian type of lick, with some descending chromatics thrown in, giving a slight Bebop feel. He's foreshadowing James A/A#/B chromatic fifths that Ben covered for that section before the "back to the front" mention comes in.
Neverending story intro again! Yeah!
This channel is so fucking awesome
Andrew Louis you’re so fucking awesome!
Back to the front!!!
Sir can you make a video on she wolf by megadeth for the main riff and the ending solo
No you are not imagining that second sound played lower down in the background. I put it with it as soon as you picked it.
