Ellie and Bill can be a comedic duo lol. I miss these three teaming up. If Bill wasnt an asshole and likes being with them, they would be the most badass team ever.
It's sad that the series made Bill almost pointless, outside of just being the reason a running vehicle existed. Such an amazing character and fantastic dialogue, filtered down to basic story exposition. Such a waste.
Part of me thinks the reason Bill said that was because he saw Joel was starting to get attached to Ellie, and earlier he said that sort of thing can end up getting you killed.

I would have liked to see this version of Bill more. It was a great episode, but I think they should have kept this version Bill and made him deeper. Dying together old is too happy for a zombie show imo. Also it was to convinient for Joel and Ellie. The acting was phenomenal tho.
It would have felt out of place imo. Joel and Ellie barely like eachother in the show so adding in Bill would have ruined the pace. It still did the same thing in that they both end with them in a car but the show gave us a glimpse of people surviving the apocalypse instead of snarky banter that would feel out of place.
I just fucking realized Bill hasn't got the time to check if Ellie is "clean" I can only imagine he will freak out and straight trying to shot Ellie until Joel either fight him or trying to reasoning with him

I agree, it would've provided some much needed levity in the otherwise extremely dark and depressing show. I liked the episode, it was beautifully written and amazingly acted, but I was really expecting and hoping that this Bill that we see in the game would be what would appear after Frank's suicide, and that Bill wouldn't also commit suicide. I get that it makes sense when that version of Frank didn't just leave him on bad terms, but I still really wish they hadn't killed off Bill, because he's my favourite character in the game, and we didn't really get to see much of the eccentric, sarcastic side of him in the show.
I know the HBO series wanted to show the romance between Bill and Frank, but god damn it took one whole episode, which ended with Bill dying with Frank. I WANTED BILL TO MEET ELLIE

I don't think we really missed much here. Instead of a story about scrounging up a battery, we got an expansion on bill and frank, while drawing a parallel between their relationship and the loving one Joel had with Tess and will have with Ellie.

As much as last night's episode was okay, this banter and interaction was very much missed. It didn't justify being 90 minutes long. At least next week we're seemingly getting to the Pennsylvania portion where Sam and Henry come in.
I don't know, I think I really liked the whole episode that delved into Bill's personality and developed a whole new character for Frank, it was a fun and emotional watch, I don't think a few vocal interactions would beat that.
