I was surprised to see the coast guard ice breaker out yesterday. Do they keep the shipping lane open all winter even when the shipping season is over?

No, the cutter will stop soon. I think the last ship of the season was yesterday. Should be over now - March, but as always, use caution.

We don't have a problem with it. Majority of the fish this time of year are migratory, coming in from Lake Superior.
