I played Summoners War for 6 years, I was mostly free 2 play so the grind was real. My favorite thing to do was save up stones and scroll to do mass summons, the odds were trash but nothing was more thrilling than summoning between 1k and 2k scroll in a row. I eventaully had to stop playing because my work life became too busy for the insane grinds, even with the auto farming system added.

My old addiction was Legendary I remember one Christmas getting some money and spending it all on in game crystals/currency. Now I play grand summoners and keep myself to a budget.

To be clear, Genshin is a lot better than most Gacha games in how it goes about giving you the currency and what you CAN and CANNOT buy using real currency. It doesn't just load you up once or twice, but rather there is a nigh infinite amount of materials and currency scattered around the in-game world. The biggest problem with Genshin isn't the speding of real world money, but the fact that its a time sink, you can't actually buy anything ingame with the money. Its a Gacha game that forces you to play it and explore and invest all your spare time into it, but at the same time its a rewarding and fun experience. Because unless you have literal thousands laying around to throw at a game that realistically doesn't give any possible monetary return, along with the fact you could get the same ingame return for a bit of effort on your part, and it becomes significantly easier not to spend money on it compared to most forms of gambling. I have funily enough seen people that have not spent a cent on the game, but have thousands of wishes saved up and unused, just waiting to brute force the gacha system on their favorite characters only. To put that into perspective, a single wish costs about $3 USD.
You can get unlucky with the pulls, because you know that you will get a 5 star, within 90 pulls, but it's 50-50 if you get the 5 star on the banner, or if you get one of the 5 stars from the normal banner, one of which is Qiqi, and if you get one from the normal banner, that's what we call losing the 50-50. If you have lost the 50-50, then you know that you will get the 5 star from the banner next time, which is within another 90 pulls, if your luck sucks, and this is what's known as pity.

Qiqi is kinda a meme because she one of the worse 5 Stars in the game, but shes available on *all* banners, so you can pull her at any time.
