Taino was not the name of the people. Taino is a word in the language of the Arawaks. We are Aboriginal Indigenous to the Americas. America was once called India long before East India which was originally Hindustan .. which is why they Caribbean is called the West Indies. The mainland was called Tameri Indies and Tameri India. Taino weren't the first inhabitants in the Caribbean Islands as there were at least 2 other groups that preceded the Taino's arrival. Most if not all of today's Taino are AdMix & many have some Black in them. Jamaica's population has very few folk with any Taino ancestry & those few Jamaicans that do have Taino ancestry have a very low percentage of Taino DNA as compared to most others of Taino ancestry found on other Caribbean islands.
Taino in the Bahamas were the first Taino that Columbus saw & he made no mention of their being dark (though some may have been, as Amerindians aren't all one particular shade).
As for the Olmec sculptures of Mexico which appear as if of Black folk, it's possible to find Cambodian & Sri Lankan folk in photos from the 1800s that look like those stone figures (looking like Black Africans).
Some Africans appear to have migrated out of Africa & into India & beyond. Some Sri Lankan Tamil traded with & intermarried with folk in SE Asia (some even ruled as kings in Cambodia).
I'm of distant Taino ancestry & I've also got distant South Asian & SE Asian ancestry - along with a lot of other distant & recent ancestry including some African & a lot of European ancestry among others - & I usually pass for White (though I have many Melungeon-like traits).
It appears that there have been multiple migratory waves along various routes into the Americas over many thousands of years; so, those already here prior to Columbus & company were a wide variety of folk & there had already been much AdMix; therefore, it wouldn't be too surprising to find some Amerindians with Black traits - & especially so after Black Africans came to the Americas with Columbus & many more arriving thereafter.
Folk tend to AdMix, but sometimes not a lot. Since Columbus & company didn't bring their own women, they tended to AdMix the Taino population - & others.

No Taino were massacred to near extinction from war and slave enduced labour and diseases the eroupeans brought with them. The Taino were and are South American indigenous. Black slaves were brought there after the conflict to replace the fallen numbers due to the above reasons. But yes a small minority of blacks have Taino blood even whites there have Taino blood because they mixed with the natives but in general the natives are under-represented and a tiny population owning tiny land rights. The entire circumstance is sad and unfortunate even for the blacks brought there. But they arent natives there they were brought there.
