Kolohe ripping but he doesn't hold his rail long enough on his turns. Everything is so short and snappy it's not as pleasing to the eye. I think that's hindered his scoring potential over the years. And too much double and triple pumping in between maneuvers looks spastic. Jake's surfing so much smoother looks better,.essier to watch
I love these comments that are out of left field. He was number 5 in the world as recently as 2019 and 2020. There is zero things wrong with his surfing. Baseless.
@@erics4127 I respect your critique but feel his surfing is a great blend of power and agility. Contest surfing as you know, has so many variables encountered that things can be misconstrued as a surfer possibly missing something in their technique when in fact they blow the doors of all of us.
@@coldseamonster he is without a doubt an incredible surfer, one of the best of this last generation, but for some reason he just hasn't been able to put it all together. And yes I agree, so many variables come into play in contest surfing. The judges always seem to change their taste each year and the WSL always seems to be pushing some underlying narrative. I would however like to point out the example of Griffin Cola. Much smoother than Kolohe and has already won 2-3 Cts. Although the difference might be that he doesn't seem to fall at clutch moments and he makes very few priority mistakes.
They both look really good, but Jake definitely was surfing better this day
Lay Back was it 1:02

I don’t know about that, style is not even part of the judging criteria anymore

@@coldseamonsterhe's been on your for 10 years, never won a CT. The double triple pumps could have been the difference.

Sad, but Jake’s part was better
