Art Director Min Hee-jin (Creative Director of Girls Generation, FX, Shinee) who created this group said that she named this group NewJeans because she wanted the music of NewJeans to be like jeans that everyone could enjoy. And it's also playing the word 'New Genes' as you said.

Min Heejin created and conceptualized the group's whole material. I think, NewJeans is aiming for y2k aesthetics and 90s to early 2000s old school R&B vibes.
FUN FACT: Min Heejin was responsible for Red Velvet, f(x), and EXO's concepts.

I was disappointed with a lot of gg debuts that were happening this year. NewJeans definitely caught my “attention.” This song is cool but Hype Boy is my favorite track out of the songs they released so far. What I do like about Attention is that this song does not sound like other gg’s right now. The sound of Attention was very unexpected.

I love how chilled and unbothered they seemed. So cool without even trying to protray the bad girl im so bad image. It’s too typical. They don’t need to. This song is truly refreshing and dope too. I love it! Intended to be just a casual listener at first but couldn’t help it, went to check out the album! It’s dope! No regrets! I love newjeans. Plus they are so pretty and charismatic. I’m happy to conclude I found my new favourite GIRLgroup after Oh my girl and Red velvet. They all have unique vibes and concepts.

I’m actually getting tired of teenage groups always doing cutie concepts cause that’s really not what being a teenager is about they really put the life of a teenager in their music, and teen crush, and r&b sounds, so that others can relate so that’s why I love them

The concept is real girls, being friends, having fun, supporting each other. People connect to that. Bonus, they can sing and dance.

Listen, i'm obsessed with their sound and their vibe, it's so chill, i think we kinda needed that in kpop to stop the escalation and relax for two seconds. I like them and I LOVED Hype Boy, and the concept with different vids for Hype Boy was so nice and not boring, i really like the whole package.
The whole pre chorus and chorus just really sticks in ur head
This song makes me disappointed that the western R&B artists in the US & U.K. stopped making music like this.😔 People in the community keep saying ‘R&B is dead, R&B is on life support’, songs like THIS would make r&b competitive on top40 charts again.

They have been trending on twitter and tiktok after coming out with their debut signal "Cardboard Box" and they just dropped their 1st debut EP called "The Lead" with a title track "Immature". in fact it was not an American club or disco it was in Spain my country if I remember correctly
S.E.S and BTS's On meets New Jeans a little honestly strongly reminds me of S.E.S. a little but it's fine, curious to see what they do in the future cause I'm still kinda confused with thier concepts and storylines but it's good music nevertheless it's cool 😎 p.s. they need to keep this going like this cause DREAM did this in 2001 but I'll see what they do next.
