That is how it is in some countryside in Jamaica and the rural areas of most countries, where there is no piped/running water or infrastructure. However,the sad thing is that this way of life is fast disappearing as the rural areas are being developed and infrastructure added.

So I’m assuming the water is cold in the barrel. I remember when I was in JA in the country people there would bath with a rag. I however would pour water over myself. Couple places where I bathed there wasn’t a roof so it was okay pouring water over me as the sun was hitting me. However in one house in Kingston regular shower with running water we had to shower with cold water. Not fun.
