The Dawes' Limit is a visual perception measure of fidelity and in order to re-produce that visual accuracy you need to sample at 2 to 3 times the Dawes' Limit, or in this case around 0.59 arc seconds is the point of diminishing returns or over sampling. This is a common misconception.
Thank you for commenting. I had looked around and couldn't find a clear explanation of this in regards to imaging. Sounds like I'll need to spend more time in bin1.. if I can get a better mount :)
Love this image of the Cave nebula - colour palette is superb. And thanks for mentioning how to change the Yes/No option as it was driving me nuts clicking what i thought was Yes only to find it was actually No. Why on earth did they switch it around!?? ( me thinks the person also manages a supermarket where they like to change all the isles just to make grocery shopping more excruciatingly slow 😂)
Thanks Logan! I have no idea why they switched. I have a feeling it was a personal preference by the developer. I had logged on to the pixinsight forum to compla... to voice my preference and found multiple threads on the topic 🤣 They had added the option to customize that after the.. um feedback 🙂
Hey James - This was an interesting walkthrough and also felt like a good use of the bin 2 mode here, made sense to me. I need to look at those new tools you mentioned, Ive seen them but haven't given much time yet to them. I also get halos on my cheapo Optolong 7nm but bit surprised your getting these on the Astrodon filters. I really do feel filters can be a lottery as Logan has the same 7nm as me with much better results. I enjoyed the overall balance in your final image, its a very moody, mysterious subject. Cheers Ollie.

Awesome image of the Cave James! Nicely done tutorial, I’ll get on the cave soon hopefully 😀 Clear Skies!
Thanks! Its a good one for sure :)
Another great video James. I really appreciate that you take the time to explain your thinking around the image capturing process.
Thank you! I'm glad you are finding these useful. :)

Thanks Ollie! Filters are a lottery for sure. Its a little odd to me that the performance can be so inconsistent.
Very nice image James! I've been looking for a new target, C 9 is in a very good position right now, thank you!
You're welcome! Looking forward to seeing yours :)
