Hi Giselle! I'm so glad this video of our Jack made your day! Unfortunately, our little Jack passed away last July. Turned out his stomach issue was more than just an acidic tummy. His sister, Sally, passed two years before him. They were from the same litter of pups and they came to live with us when they were just 5 weeks old. The BEST little dogs we could ever wish for! Both Jack and his sister, Sally, had a wonderful life. My husband and I enjoyed spoiling them. And everyone they met loved them, too! We still have our cat, Oreo, a Tuxedo cat who was a stray at my husband's work. Before Jack passed, Jack & Oreo became best buddies. Thanks again! Sorry for the downer response. First pup I've seen that fights like mine people are showing these videos of dogs willing to be given meds . thank you for this maybe more people will find a way to address the more difficult pups.. Its 4:48 am I've been up all night trying to find help on how to give my poor pup his meds . i can't restrain his neck his injury is a trachea collapse from the groomers. This makes it extra hard . restraining him near his neck causes further trauma and coughing. I have to find a way that's effective and gentler.. Hes struggling to breathe. 😢

And I'm so sorry that your furbaby was injured while at the groomers. That's awful. We had a mobile dog grooming service that came to our home once a month, which made things much easier and less stressful. They had two groomers, so our dogs (Jack & Sally) were always handled/groomed by the same groomer. I hope and pray your baby's injury will heal completely. Take good care! 🐶 🙏🏼
Omg finally a video that shows how to give a dog medicine that actually won't cooperate. Every other video I've seen has been of a vet, in a vets office with the most calm dog. My dog won't try to bite you but he is stubborn and tries to run away. Let's hope this works🤞... Edit : it works really well!!! Thank you! I can do it by myself now without having someone else hold him! The towel is a great idea.

I was really frustrated today because my Lhasa Apso just won’t take his medicine. I lost my cool and even shouted at him. I know I have to do better. Then I saw this video today. Thank you, ma’am! If you can make your chihuahua take his meds then what’s my excuse? You even do it with all smiles and positivity.
It’s not positivity, it’s naïveté and ignorance. She didn’t even do it correctly, as most of the medication ended up on the floor instead of working to help her dog recover.

Too funny! Ah Jack, my daughters roommate has a chihuahua mix- she always says Talulah can turn into a Gremlin when she doesn't like what's being done to her-nail clipping, medicine etc., but they are so darn cute acting like Gremlins!
Talulah sounds so cute! And I love her name! And a gremlin, yes, that's what Jack becomes. Hahaha! There are two groomers who come to our house with their mobile unit. My sister brings her dogs over for pampering that day, too. Jack will ONLY let one of the groomers touch him. Then you can totally relate, Mely. It's funny because Jack's sister, Sally, was from the same parents, and Sally looked more like her mom, a terrier, and she was so mellow. Rarely growled anyone. I tried this yesterday’ and it worked with same result as Jack. However today my baby Charlie took it with no resistance at all. I raised his cheek and guided it in with no problems. Thank you again and God Bless.
my chihuahua used to do the same thing but then I would grab a treat for him to see and let him know he gets it after the meds. it's a great distraction! seems to work for my dog. just a fyi! Jack is very cute.
Oh, I wish a treat would work for Jack, too! His sister, Sally, was so easy. I could hide her meds in her food and she'd gobble it right up. Jack won't do this, so that's why his vet gives him the liquid meds. After making this video, we finally realized if we wrap him up snug like a burrito, he'll take his meds. Whew! LOL! That's our little Jack. And thanks for your suggestion, though. I appreciate it! The funny thing is we took in a stray cat a few months back and Jack and his kitty brother get along pretty well. We have an 8 month old chocolate/white long hair Chi along with two 7 year old Greyhound. Surprisingly the Greys are helping to raise her and when it's time for her once a month heartworm pill all I have to do is put it down in front of one of the Greys and when she sees them try to snatch it, she grabs it and swallows it like it was a treat. She's only growled/snapped once when I picked her toys up to run the vacuum, she knows better now. Pill day is no big deal because we don't make it a big deal.
Late to the party on this one and this is the only video I can find that doesn't have a calm dog! We have a Danish Spitz, small/medium boy but with wolf-like teeth and for the first time ever he actually tried to bite me (not playful nips) with malice while trying to give him liquid meds. Your towel idea works but we also gave him a treat immediately prior to using the syringe so he's already swallowing. Thanks for the idea!

That is so funny~ I think Jack is losing most of his medicine though. I'm pretty sure you need to slide that syring down the inside of his cheek towards the back of his throat so he can't spit most of it out like that! I would wear some heavy-duty gloves with a patient like Jack though! lmao!
I'm using OVEN MITS and the Towel method on my Chihuahua. Not sure if holding my dog by the neck fat will be good Because my dog has a collapsed trachea, due to Congestive heart failure and other complications. But I do agree, Finally someone with a "NORMAL " dog that won't take medication. I'm convinced these other videos of dogs being administered medicine must be photoshopped into the frame! Lol 🤣🤣

LOL! As for our little Jack, he’s no longer with us. He really was such a good boy. Just didn’t like to taking his meds. We still miss them both. Now, we’re cat parents. Meatball doesn't like taking medicine either. But we figured out that he doesn't like the syringe. When I put it on a plate he licked it all up with no problem. Crazy dogs!! ;-)
Meatball...what a super cute name! And I only wish Jack would be so cooperative and take his meds if I put it on a plate. That would sure make it easier for me. Hahaha! With Jack's sister, Sally, I could hide it in her food and she LOVED to eat, so I had no problem with her taking her meds. A few times, when I put her meds in a piece of cheese, she'd eat the cheese and spit out the pill. I'd find the pill later. Hahaha! :-) :-)
We figured it out because when he bit the end of the syringe it dripped out al over my arm and then he licked it all up. So I just put more on a plate and asked him if he wanted a treat and then he just licked it all up! Pills though, forget it! He WILL bite me!
Oh, I wish Jack were so easy! Just to get him to eat sometimes, in fact a lot of times, I have to pick up my phone and pretend I'm talking to my sister who has two dogs, Jack's canine cousins. I ask, in my pretend conversation, if Regina & Star (my sis's dogs) are hungry and if they like chicken, and how Jack will share his food with them. Most times, Jack will move closer to his dish and eat and lick everything up just so his canine cousins won't get any. I know it sounds crazy, but it works. LOL!!!

Horrible time with my pug, syringe not too bad if it tastes good but pills flem them up beyond her throat and they will come back up, she is very sick old and neuro with bad breathing still wags her tail and barks at mailman everything is functioning and she is improving have her 1 week to live almost 3 weeks ago. Appreciate every day I have my girl with me
This was such an authentic video. I have to medicate my bestie because of Reocuring seizers using a dosing syringe every 12 hrs. I used empty gelatin caps for a while but he was non-complient in no time. He is every bit as spirited as your dog and slightly larger and it really is exhausting taking everything I've got physical and mentality both to make sure he gets his meds on schedule . To ease the drama I give him 0.25mg of liquid hemp ( legal with no or very little thc) it helps take the edge off but still not incident free. Maria Cisneros Toth Scruffy says she is so happy Jack did not bite you! Scruffy says she does not like to get her paws wet in the rain. She runs fast back into the house after her bathroom break. My Mommy makes me wear a rain jacket and I hate it! LOL. Some rain we're having here in Cali. I love it! It rained all al night and all day until late Sunday. Now it's wet and cold. We had flooding over here. The water went up to the curb covering the addresses. People had to go across to the passenger side to get out of their cars due to the water rising so much. I stayed home and just enjoyed the rain. Hope you are all okay over your area and be safe. :)
Oh, I could just see Scruffy daintily running out of the rain wearing her little raincoat. I bet she looks so cute! Jack will usually run out there, but the rain was so steady and heavy today that he preferred to use his potty pads. LOL! And wow, I heard of the flooding in certain areas of the Southland was really bad. Here, we did get a lot of rain, but where we live I didn't see any flooding, though, when we drove to Joey's work in Riverside, the freeway seemed so treacherous. Made me feel nervous. Just like Jack, I was happy to get back home, too. This rainy weather has been good for me, though, since I've stayed home more and have been much more productive in Janurary. But I'm sure looking forward to the sunshine later this week. It'll give us a chance to dry out a bit. Oh, and the weeds in our back yard are growing so tall, so hopefully I can get out there and start pulling some. Hahaha! Hope you and Scruffy have a good week! :-) :-)

That's funny that you had to pin the kids down to give them their medicine. Tell them if they had to take the awful tasting stuff (before they flavored meds to taste better) we used to have to take, then they would have taken their meds pronto. LOL! I never forget some fishy tasting stuff your mom and I had to take. I think it was cod liver oil or something like that. BLECH! It makes me think of Aunt Polly giving Tom Sawyer his meds. Hahaha! My dog is exactly like this! 😅 I've got two dogs who don't like their meds or vitamins, but so far, I can administer the meds with the other dog. My girl, however, bites me when the syringe is close to her mouth. Anyway, I recently discovered( today actually 😂) that it would work if I put the meds in her favorite veggies (cabbage in her case). I never thought it would work, but it did. Hopefully it goes down well for your dog in the future.

I feel like such a monster having to do this with my chihuahua 😢 They should all have compounding pharmacies that can incorporate the actual liquid medicine in a beef or chicken treat.
My arm would be chewed. I have to use muzzle to medicate my poodle. 13 yr old doesn't like to be petted neither. Help. He has heart mummer meds to take everyday. Any suggestions? I'm by myself doing this.

Three syringes of meds twice a day does sound challenging. With our Jack, what finally made it a bit easier was I wrapped him snugly in a towel like a burrito, so he couldn’t wiggle so much and he took his meds much better! I hope this helps. Too funny! Ah Jack, my daughters roommate has a chihuahua mix- she always says Talulah can turn into a Gremlin when she doesn't like what's being done to her-nail clipping, medicine etc., but they are so darn cute acting like Gremlins!
Talulah sounds so cute! And I love her name! And a gremlin, yes, that's what Jack becomes. Hahaha! There are two groomers who come to our house with their mobile unit. My sister brings her dogs over for pampering that day, too. Jack will ONLY let one of the groomers touch him. I tried this yesterday’ and it worked with same result as Jack. However today my baby Charlie took it with no resistance at all. I raised his cheek and guided it in with no problems.

I was told to inject the liquid into the corner of mouth near the teeth so they don't taste it and spit it out. That's the trick.
my chihuahua used to do the same thing but then I would grab a treat for him to see and let him know he gets it after the meds. it's a great distraction! seems to work for my dog. just a fyi! Jack is very cute.
Oh, I wish a treat would work for Jack, too! His sister, Sally, was so easy. I could hide her meds in her food and she'd gobble it right up. Jack won't do this, so that's why his vet gives him the liquid meds. After making this video, we finally realized if we wrap him up snug like a burrito, he'll take his meds. Whew! LOL! That's our little Jack. And thanks for your suggestion, though. I appreciate it! The funny thing is we took in a stray cat a few months back and Jack and his kitty brother get along pretty well. So, we're happy about this! Thanks again! :-) :-)

We have an 8 month old chocolate/white long hair Chi along with two 7 year old Greyhound. Surprisingly the Greys are helping to raise her and when it's time for her once a month heartworm pill all I have to do is put it down in front of one of the Greys and when she sees them try to snatch it, she grabs it and swallows it like it was a treat. She's only growled/snapped once when I picked her toys up to run the vacuum, she knows better now. Pill day is no big deal because we don't make it a big deal.

Late to the party on this one and this is the only video I can find that doesn't have a calm dog! We have a Danish Spitz, small/medium boy but with wolf-like teeth and for the first time ever he actually tried to bite me (not playful nips) with malice while trying to give him liquid meds. Your towel idea works but we also gave him a treat immediately prior to using the syringe so he's already swallowing. Thanks for the idea!

That is so funny~ I think Jack is losing most of his medicine though. I'm pretty sure you need to slide that syring down the inside of his cheek towards the back of his throat so he can't spit most of it out like that! I would wear some heavy-duty gloves with a patient like Jack though! lmao!

I'm using OVEN MITS and the Towel method on my Chihuahua. Not sure if holding my dog by the neck fat will be good Because my dog has a collapsed trachea, due to Congestive heart failure and other complications. But I do agree, Finally someone with a "NORMAL " dog that won't take medication. I'm convinced these other videos of dogs being administered medicine must be photoshopped into the frame! Lol 🤣🤣

Meatball doesn't like taking medicine either. But we figured out that he doesn't like the syringe. When I put it on a plate he licked it all up with no problem. Crazy dogs!! ;-)
Meatball...what a super cute name! And I only wish Jack would be so cooperative and take his meds if I put it on a plate. That would sure make it easier for me. Hahaha! With Jack's sister, Sally, I could hide it in her food and she LOVED to eat, so I had no problem with her taking her meds. A few times, when I put her meds in a piece of cheese, she'd eat the cheese and spit out the pill. I'd find the pill later. Hahaha! :-) :-)
We figured it out because when he bit the end of the syringe it dripped out al over my arm and then he licked it all up. So I just put more on a plate and asked him if he wanted a treat and then he just licked it all up! Pills though, forget it! He WILL bite me!
Oh, I wish Jack were so easy! Just to get him to eat sometimes, in fact a lot of times, I have to pick up my phone and pretend I'm talking to my sister who has two dogs, Jack's canine cousins. I ask, in my pretend conversation, if Regina & Star (my sis's dogs) are hungry and if they like chicken, and how Jack will share his food with them. Most times, Jack will move closer to his dish and eat and lick everything up just so his canine cousins won't get any. I know it sounds crazy, but it works. LOL!!!
Meatball is like that too! He is so picky that we have to tell him the cat will eat his food if he doesn't want it! Then he runs over and eats it.

Horrible time with my pug, syringe not too bad if it tastes good but pills flem them up beyond her throat and they will come back up, she is very sick old and neuro with bad breathing still wags her tail and barks at mailman everything is functioning and she is improving have her 1 week to live almost 3 weeks ago. Appreciate every day I have my girl with me

This was such an authentic video. I have to medicate my bestie because of Reocuring seizers using a dosing syringe every 12 hrs. I used empty gelatin caps for a while but he was non-complient in no time. He is every bit as spirited as your dog and slightly larger and it really is exhausting taking everything I've got physical and mentality both to make sure he gets his meds on schedule . To ease the drama I give him 0.25mg of liquid hemp ( legal with no or very little thc) it helps take the edge off but still not incident free. My Mommy makes me wear a rain jacket and I hate it! LOL. Some rain we're having here in Cali. I love it! It rained all al night and all day until late Sunday. Now it's wet and cold. We had flooding over here. The water went up to the curb covering the addresses. People had to go across to the passenger side to get out of their cars due to the water rising so much. Oh, I could just see Scruffy daintily running out of the rain wearing her little raincoat. I bet she looks so cute! Jack will usually run out there, but the rain was so steady and heavy today that he preferred to use his potty pads. LOL! And wow, I heard of the flooding in certain areas of the Southland was really bad. Here, we did get a lot of rain, but where we live I didn't see any flooding, though, when we drove to Joey's work in Riverside, the freeway seemed so treacherous. Made me feel nervous. Just like Jack, I was happy to get back home, too. This rainy weather has been good for me, though, since I've stayed home more and have been much more productive in Janurary. But I'm sure looking forward to the sunshine later this week. It'll give us a chance to dry out a bit. Oh, and the weeds in our back yard are growing so tall, so hopefully I can get out there and start pulling some. Hahaha! Hope you and Scruffy have a good week! :-) :-)

That's funny that you had to pin the kids down to give them their medicine. Tell them if they had to take the awful tasting stuff (before they flavored meds to taste better) we used to have to take, then they would have taken their meds pronto. LOL! I never forget some fishy tasting stuff your mom and I had to take. I think it was cod liver oil or something like that. BLECH! It makes me think of Aunt Polly giving Tom Sawyer his meds. Hahaha! Mine tried to bite my hand off
My dog is exactly like this! 😅 I've got two dogs who don't like their meds or vitamins, but so far, I can administer the meds with the other dog. My girl, however, bites me when the syringe is close to her mouth. Anyway, I recently discovered( today actually 😂) that it would work if I put the meds in her favorite veggies (cabbage in her case). I never thought it would work, but it did. Hopefully it goes down well for your dog in the future.

Three syringes of meds twice a day does sound challenging. With our Jack, what finally made it a bit easier was I wrapped him snugly in a towel like a burrito, so he couldn’t wiggle so much and he took his meds much better! I hope this helps.
