I rather see Lexi with a national title under her belt than player of the year. She’s played for two titles so far and the team couldn’t pull it off. Hopefully they can get it done this time. Gonna be tough as always.
as a Husker fan, I wanted PSU in the final 4 so we could settle the "tie" question. As fun as Creighton would have been, Creighton doesn't answer any questions about the season for the Huskers, PSU does. In that same light, I want Pitt to be in the Title match...as great as it would be to have DBK team for the title, as much as there is to say about a female coach winning it all, the student and the master story, etc...LV doesn't answer any questions for Nebraska, Pitt does. When you aspire to be the champ and feel you are the best, then you accept all contenders but you want the best of them to rise up and take priority. Dodging greatness isn't a champion trait.
Agree and great points for sure especially regarding the core idea of "answering the questions." Only thing in sports though is that this is a slippery slope. For example: if LV wins the question could be asked about them being at home vice being the better team, or if say PSU beats Pitt in a final the Panthers could say well we swept them earlier etc. Great news though is that discussions like this regarding volleyball rival if not have overtaken other sports and that is the real success.
Thanks for offering some insight! Nebraska fan living in Louisville and excited for the final four! Grimes was the low key STAR in the match that won Penn state of the big 10 title. CJ and MM both played a level up in that match and haven't maintained it. Will be a fun subplot. Balls won't drop easily. Saw the Pitt sweep of Louisville in person. I think Pitt's only weakness is they are so used to short rallies... If Babcock takes more than two swings in a rally she looks almost human. and clearly serve the seam between Stafford and Vazquez Gomez. Louisville's offensive inventiveness hasn't been discussed enough, including Cresse on the slide (while running a 6-2) and some combo plays with Maldonado Diaz while Reese Robbins has faded this season. Terry pettit called them a 'team of parts'. I don't think he thinks much of it, but I think it is fun to watch. As poorly a Purdue looked, I'm not altogether sure that it wasn't Louisville giving different looks that made it happen. I'm hopeful Hornung looks back to her match against Nebraska where I thought she was great, and let's herself remember that, instead of this last match
Lexi as player of the year is not a stretch. She's as good or better than any hitter, middle, or setter at what she does compared to what they do. Perhaps two awards are needed. Update: Finalists are Babcock, DeLeye, Franklin, and Rodriguez.
That’s been going on for decades in football and basketball. Now it’s not against the rules. Unfortunately those new rules will ruin college sports as a whole. Not just football and basketball.
After seeing Lexi’s performance on Sunday - I’m convinced- Player of the Year

Excellent analysis! Agree on all points.

Between D2 and JuCo which one has better level?

GBR!!
Unlike most schools, Nebraska only has 2 transfers, Merrit and Taylor. Unlike Penn State, TexASS, and Wisconsin.
Actually there are 3, Merritt, Taylor, and Leyla.
Almodovar is a superstar!
So Emily commentates Nebraska all year, but not in the playoffs??? Doesn’t make sense
Thank god!!! She is awful!!! Only reason she gets big games is bc her in-law is a big guy in the big ten..she is an awful commentator.
There are not 3 teams playing, there are four. Do yinz know Pitt is playing? Amazing lack of attention to the #1 team in the country. For shame.
As to PSU not having any Final Four experience, you seem to forget Maddie and Caroline were there last year with Nebraska.
Alas, I'm afraid the paying of athletes is going to bring the end of college sports as we know it.
Yep, cat's out the bag. Potential good news is it could possibly bring more pairity a la CFB this year where there is no 1 dominant team.

Dude why can’t you stop talking over her??
He’s an ass…
