@Kieran Jimmy I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
I’m currently in my second year of saxophone, I play alto and tenor. Your progress was a pretty great! As long as you have a good tone and concept of your dynamics, and basic fingering, everything else with fall into place! Bravo! 🎉
I'm surprised you got notes to come out with the mouth piece upside down! I never tried it myself, I just thought it wouldn't work that way! Very funny and have fun learning! It's a fun long journey!
Wonderful job in only a month!!! I’ve been playing for 30+ years, I was really impressed with the quick progress you made on the instrument in such a short time! Bravo!!
Hey very good! Keep on going. Only two advises. It's very hard to get away the habit of fingers lifting far away from the keys. You need much time bring them back and you'll never be able to play fast. Try during your practice sessions to really keep touching the keys after lifting the fingers. It feels weird in the beginning but will give you a big benefit on the long run. And to the vibrato. It's an important technique but it needs also deliberate practice. It's usually sth. to train after you developed a good straight sound. If you still want to do it from the beginning you could practice it together with long tones like holding the note for 2 beats then vibrato evenly 8ths or triplets and around the right pitch and then hold again the note. You did a very very good job! I just thought I could help you a bit to go even further. ;)
@@Davidof1990 any resources you recommend? Awesome progress btw! I've also been playing guitar for over 10 years..would be cool if I picked it up as quickly as you did.

thanks for this video bro. I have been playing irish whistle for 10 years...and love improvising etc...but always feel restricted not having that chromatic scale. i really want to splash out and throw myself into learnign the sax. i found out the initial fingering and scale is very similar to a whistle which is encouraging. seeing your progress in this short time really inspries me and now i feel ready to give it a try. This instrument has been attracting my curiosity for a long time so I took the plunge! I just bought an alto saxophone and I'm waiting to receive it 😁 I also really like the sound of the tenor and if I manage to get by, maybe I'll pass on that one later 😊 what is the reference of your saxophone please? thank you for your very encouraging sharing 🙏✨😊
The best learning sax video showing a progress I've already found. Blue Bossa or Misty sounds quite well. Do you still play the sax? If so, what about showing progress till now?
You learnt all the notes to misty on your first day and played all of the notes in tune with a decent tone and had all of the fingerings down and smooth.
To be honest, there are skills on the saxophone that take years to develop. Such as embouchure flexibility, articulation, timing, site reading, tone development and even the fingerings. I don't know how you could work on all of these things on your first day and achieve a decent level on them after just a few hours. For instance, on day 13, you have already achieved a perfect vibrato. By day 22, you have achieved a solid tone.
How much did you practice a day? And did you already start learning about the instrument before you got it? It just seemed as if you pretty quickly figured out which notes are which on the saxophone :D I've played the piano for like 10 years or something like that now, and I wanna start learning the tenor saxophone. Thanks for making this video! :)
I printed 1 chart for the fingering, then started with some easy songs. Mouth and breathing technique is the hardest part. Start with thin reeds (1,5). I practiced about 1 hour a day. Good luck! Thanks!
Which model sax did you buy? I’m also trying to learn tenor sax! But am stuck on where to buy a sax. Your progress is incredible btw. It’s almost hard to believe haha
Hey buddy. Awesome progress, really impressive. Where did you find the fingering charts to the standards and what backing tracks do you use? Best regards, Horatio.
May I ask you your experience with this Thomann sax? Is it any good in the and. I'm interested in it because of its low price, but the low price itself is actually holding me back from buying because I feel like it might be crappy.
Hi Yakub, actually I really like it, imho it sounds great. I had a little issue with the octave button: when pressing the button with my thumb, the upper valve didn't close enough so I had to (carefully) bend it a little bit te make it fit. But this was really a minor issue with an easy fix.
To be honest, it's better not to learn so fast. It's more important to take your time learning the basics and developing good technique and fundamentals rather than speeding through 10 or more jazz standards in your first month. There is no reason for a complete beginner to play difficult jazz standards after just learning your first few fingerings. The goal of sax playing is not to amass as many difficult tunes as fast as possible. You should begin with easy tunes where you could develop key fingering fundamentals that will help you later.
There's no way you can get that good in 30 days. The only way is if you already played clarinet, trumpet, flute... But then , you're not really a beginner at the tenor.
Your progress is phenomenal, playing another instrument before seems to help a lot.
