Hey, this is the Byrd Ave Verum Corpus! This is arguably the best piece of High Renaissance polyphony in existence. If you're a singer, drop everything and get a copy of this piece immediately, then find some friends and read through it. It's beautiful. Good footage, by the way.
Allow me to correct you kristakdc. When lightning strikes, it does so in bursts, usually three or four at a time. To the unaided eye, it just creates a strobing effect, but when slowed down, you get what you see in this video. So, they actually don't look fake, but quite real.
thats because electricity will follow the path of least resistance, which is where it struck before, plus the air where it struct before will be ionised and so conduct electricity easier than the none ionised air, this is why several bolts can look the same and strike the same place in succession
I don't know.. I too question the authenticity of this tape, not because of the multiple flashes but because of the incredible amount of strikes within such a small area. I live in South Florida, lightning capital.. and even in severe storms I don't see this many strikes at once in such close proximity.
Lightning definately strikes twice in the same spot, take lightning rods on buildings they get struck many times. Lightning strikes in the first place because it is the path of least resistance and unless the resistance changes it is likely to strike again.
for the record, this video is not fake. it was shot by a friend of mine who occassionally chases storms. we don't do special fx or know the first thing about it.
Well what is noticable is the last clip out the back window - the lightning is on the inside of the heating strips! Don't know if it is caused by the brightness. In my personal opinion it looks a bit on the fake side. No offence.
@Adawg4008 Not always; sometimes from cloud to cloud. Lightning discharges may occur between areas of cloud without contacting the ground. When it occurs between two separate clouds it is known as inter-cloud lightning and when it occurs between areas of differing electric potential within a single cloud, it is known as intra-cloud lightning. Intra-cloud lightning is the most frequently occurring type
anyone who says this is fake has no idea how lightning strikes. and yes lighting strikes more than once in the same place, people think lightning is random but its actually very precise, it usually strikes where the electrons gather the most/closest to the protons. when lightning strikes first the energy goes down, then back up the same path, and then back down the same path. do your homework before you call something fake.
again, for the record. NONE of this is fake. i'm not going to waste my time defending it. judging by the number of views and positive comments, it seems more have enjoyed it than not which in my mind justifies our posting of this video - which took literally 10 minutes to put together. you guys can believe what you want about it. have fun!
@Adawg4008 No it doesn't...An electrical charge is sent from the sky towards the ground (which is invisible to us), and then comes back up. The part when the lightning comes back up is the part we see. I'm going to assume that's what you meant.
lightning does indeed come out of the ground as well as from the sky. Do some research into the subject and a smaller fork of lightning comes from the ground upwards before a large fork descends from the cloud. There are a number of films showing this...
ok a lot of people are saying this is fake, and i hae no idea, im not a camera expert. but tehre are actually storms like this? damm i wish england had lighting like this, that would be soo great :)
this is not fake, this really wouldnt be something you would fake, i mean its not like its amazing or anything its just someone filming lightning then putting it in slow mow, i did the same thing yesterday! i havent put it on youtube yet but it will be on soon
video proves that lightning DOES strike twice (or more) at the same spot....and its normal- proving the statement that lightning never strikes at the same spot twice... I counted Five!!!!
I agree with thinking this video was fake, ONLY because of the motion tracking...it's very realistic, but around 0:19, some of the lightning moves slightly when the camera moves...that only happens when motion tracking was not done properly with special effects. Lightning is now one of the easiest things to fake with any decent effects program...
Well..perhaps it looks kinda fake if you don't know how lightning works. There can be several strikes through the same lightning channel once it is established. To the naked eye it might look like strobing effect, but slowed down it looks like this. And lightning appearing over objects on the foreground is really a result of the camera/video. Look at the white truck and you can see there is some motion blur on the video.
you know your stuff, i agree this isnt fake. if he had a high speed camera then you can see itmor better but since his probably recprds at 25-30 fps, it cannot be captured in an actual slow motion. now listen to the grownups and dont call things you cant prove fake.
what's fake in this clip? lightning usually strikes 3-5 times with about 50 ms pause between the strikes and reusing the path it looks like it moves with camera but that's because it so far, the moving is very close (watch this when you're in train) the lightning appears to be in front of things, it's just the digital camera feature, its too bright so it blinds nearby pixels, (cheap) digital devices have small dynamic range most of you probably havent seen many storms or tried to record it
no, it doesnt. there is a type of lightning that comes from the ground, but its very rare. most lightning however, comes from the sky, just like everyone thought.
what do you mean "lightning comes up from the ground but not every time" it happens ALL the time and give me the link to a video where the lighting goes down then i'll belive you & i do do(lol i said dodo) my research.
They are real, but It look fake, especially the second strike at 00:07 seem to ''float'' over the background and appear to be in front of the bush less than 200 feet way. The reason is the light is diffracting in the car windows making illusion the strike goes over the bush and the slow motion make them all behave strangely, giving the impression it was doctored with Photoshop.
why on earth do all these kids think it's fake? what you see on this video is exactly how lightning and cameras work. how do you think it should look like then? coming down from the clouds with an alien riding on the end..lol
Hey, this is the Byrd Ave Verum Corpus! This is arguably the best piece of High Renaissance polyphony in existence. If you're a singer, drop everything and get a copy of this piece immediately, then find some friends and read through it. It's beautiful.
Good footage, by the way.
Lightning is probably the most awsome thing to watch
The awesome beauty of Zeus's Lightning bolts. I hope Hera doesn't mind him showing off like that.
I love the video! (Good choice of song too. I sing this with my choir all the time!!)
Beautiful music and stunning video. I give it a thumbs up.
move to Arizona man, during monsoon season we have some of the most kick ass thunder storms ever.
looks like sandario rd just south west of Tucson AZ. the beauty of the cloud majestic, tranquil, deceptive. love thunderstorms
wow the speed of light cant even beat the super slow camera.!
dude...the slow motion is a great effect with the music...it doesn't make it fake
That's because when it's regular speed, it's so fast, it sounds like thunder. Once you slow it down however, you can hear the singing.
Nature can be really beautiful...
"lightning never strikes the same place twice"... count about 5 in a row along the same path, when they're driving away at the end. :D
Gorgeous! Very well done too!
That was really beautiful, thanks
Great shots.
That was real cool; the one that appears at lucky 0:07 is the best one, IMO.
Beautiful.
most people dont know this but lightning really comes out of the ground.

Cool editing effect.

تصوير مميز استمر
love it !!!
TheFlumps789 ur a gunn :P good on ya Happy new year . Good luck with ur life mate.
for the record, this video is not fake. it was shot by a friend of mine who occassionally chases storms. we don't do special fx or know the first thing about it.
Why would people think this was fake? They look like natural lightning bolts to me
thanks!
totally cool...!
@Adawg4008 Actually, that varies. Lightning can go cloud to ground, ground to cloud or cloud to cloud, depending on how the clouds are charged.
gotta have good comebacks in this world!
when you really slow down the lightning you can see it jump up then down then back up into the sky. (jump meaning flash from destination.)
good video!

What is this beautiful music??!?!?? Please give name of choir and song!
again, for the record. since when did lighting hit the same place twice and manage to look just like the last bolt
this music is beautiful. please tell me what it is and how to find it :)
Its ok i researched it myself. These are the 3 types - Cloud to Ground. Intracloud and InterCloud
send the video including the music to a guy whos making a scary movie about some storms and itll make a good ending.
cool!!
very interesting
@Adawg4008

this is not fake, this really wouldnt be something you would fake, i mean its not like its amazing or anything its just someone filming lightning then putting it in slow mow, i did the same thing yesterday! i havent put it on youtube yet but it will be on soon
is cloud to cloud harder to see? the lightning i mainly see is CTG or GTC
video proves that lightning DOES strike twice (or more) at the same spot....and its normal- proving the statement that lightning never strikes at the same spot twice... I counted Five!!!!
Does anybody know what this music is? I love it.
nice work on ps mate !
cool music, any title?

Lightning is now one of the easiest things to fake with any decent effects program...
... an if you take under the consideration camera's CCD and its properties of working - everything will be NOT so obvious..
anyone know how powerful a lightning bolt is? and what happens when you actually get struck by one?
you can just put it in slow motion. you need a high speed camera. There is a difference.
Thats like the "leader" or something
Well..perhaps it looks kinda fake if you don't know how lightning works. There can be several strikes through the same lightning channel once it is established. those are some dark storm clouds, at 00:34 the lightning looks purple cause of the dark clouds
cool
a good majority of lightning never reaches the ground... it goes from cloud to cloud. so think about it that way.
watch SLOW MOTION lightning just Slow slower and slowest. and u'll see where the lightning comes from.
SUPER LOL!!!
i agree with andyknight. these arent fake
What's the name of the song? ;D
i was wondering the same.. lemme know if u find out
Looks like Arizona.
this isnt fake the camera just isnt fast enough to capture the lightning going down
Pretty good photoshopping
@DistressSignal because those people are afraid of Thunder....
what is this music?
Why the hell are people thumbing me down for this?
To all the fools that say "lightning can't strike the same spot twice"....
you know your stuff, i agree this isnt fake. if he had a high speed camera then you can see itmor better but since his probably recprds at 25-30 fps, it cannot be captured in an actual slow motion. now listen to the grownups and dont call things you cant prove fake.

its light....you will never catch it in slow-mo....well you will but it will look pretty much the same...cool vid tho
very well made
You have to do it in Super slomotion mate, this is still to fast to really see a slo-motion.
top only top
war of the worlds at 00:30 lol!
@Austin25254 its true i saw it on super slowmotion
Well? Anybody found the music already?
'' doesnt hit same place twince '' o really :D
thas slow but its still hella fast
y a must see?
what do you mean "lightning comes up from the ground but not every time" it happens ALL the time and give me the link to a video where the lighting goes down then i'll belive you & i do do(lol i said dodo) my research.
its the sign of the Apocalypse!!!!!
nice lights bunt the slow motion is still fast :(
well god created lightning and he created people so i guess you could say this video is of gods creation
can this be?
it isnt striking the same place twice
yep.. :S
