Ed Sloan: *forgets they're playing the song in drop C instead of drop D, starts singing the first line off key* Good thing he instantly catches himself and the rest of the performance is great.
They have a hard time with this song. All the lives I’ve seen they struggle in the beginning. Then it comes together at the middle. And the end is usually fire. Dude in the hat is getting progressively bigger every time I see him.
Flawless. I can't take it. I forgot about this song and heard it in a coffee shop a few weeks back. Now I can't stop listening to this song and reminiscing about the early 2000's. Best F--king era. Sexay.

It's sad that some people think all Tony did was sing backup. He was part of the soul of Crossfade and his departure has been felt, even if the band continues being awesome.
@Fred Tedason dude I know this isn’t related to the comment but I see you everywhere lol 😂 Then again, I shouldn’t talk because I’m everywhere too but I literally see you the most
@@gusionpaxley9063 Isn't he the same guy who just always bashes the shit out of Tony Byroads (ex-Crossfade DJ/backup singer) in every comments section of every Crossfade live video ?
100% spot on. Tony was the magic sauce and why they were a 1 album wonder. I have met Ed/mitch many times and seen them live a ton. Great guys and band but anything after their debut album kinda sucks. Tony is the difference.
@@aceventura3552 It's called a secret weapon band member. Someone who doesn't seem too important on the surface but makes a world of difference in reality.
Based off my performing experience, I'd bet the lead singer was starting to hurt from playing the song so much once it got popular, so they kept workshopping which key could keep his voice healthier
@ I’ve been singing in bands for decades so I completely understand. As singers age, most bands drop to lower keys to make the songs manageable over long tours. Except Paul McCartney. He still sings in the original keys because he said he doesn’t know how to play his songs any other way.
Actually, this song was recorded with a seven string, which is a baritone, in drop A (ADADGBE), so that probably has a lot to do with why it sounds different.
@@Brandon2940 The original song is actually in Standard B with a full step down dropped 6th string, but he's not even using the 7 strings guitar for this performance.
That's the problem of writing the song at your top vocal range. It wears after a while and you have to drop now and then to get a clean vocal. Worth it in this case!
SaidoKun much easier to perform every night not having to go as high I am sure. Lots of bands do it. It’s more of a strategy thing to deliver a badass performance might after night!

I was actually quite impressed. The venue is notoriously difficult to deal with and makes, even very good acts, struggle. Adjusted after the first little bit and did really well.
Evan Drince whats missing is hes not using his usual 7 string Schecter. The scale length and what not add a lot to the old crossfade sound. This is the only show where I've seen him not use a 7 string.
+Matt Dillon Well for one thing he hits the amazingly difficult harmony vocals throughout the whole song... That alone gives justification for him being there, not to mention the creative input he has for songwriting. Have respect for him dude, the fact he pulled this off LIVE says a lot.
+MillionMothTree That is Tony Byroads the dude is an amazing vocalist. He can actually sing just as good IF NOT better than Ed Sloan. Check out his band called The Undivided. They are amazing!
I'll be straightforward: the guitarist, who is the frontman, should have stayed on the side, while the backup singer should have been the lead singer. The stage arrangement looks odd. Nevertheless, they all perform and sing excellently, and it is indeed a fantastic song.
What a performance. Vocals are absolutely on point.
definitely. having two vocalists is awesome.
Ed Sloan: *forgets they're playing the song in drop C instead of drop D, starts singing the first line off key* Good thing he instantly catches himself and the rest of the performance is great.
I have no idea what you are talking about, but must be true, they rock.
Yes, it sounds dumb in Drop C. I found a good video that they play the studio Drop D in. It was amazing!
Excellent critique. Glad you were home watching it on TV and not the one singing it.
It does seem a step too low
They have a hard time with this song. All the lives I’ve seen they struggle in the beginning. Then it comes together at the middle. And the end is usually fire. Dude in the hat is getting progressively bigger every time I see him.
The lead singer is a damn Rockstar....Very talented ...

This is better than the recorded version
Its really really good

This song actually sounds heavier in this tuning
Usually does when a song is down tuned.
He doesnt Scream so much
That's because it is a heavier song in this tuning.
Lmao
@@zblackwell6260
they’re playing it in C instead of D in this clip. Probably easier for bro to sing it. CROSSFADE rocks.
Ed is amazing. I love his voice
How I miss these times. Those day are gone now.
Amazing vocal performance!
They always play this song in a different key on each tv performance it feels like.
Based off my performing experience, I'd bet the lead singer was starting to hurt from playing the song so much once it got popular, so they kept workshopping which key could keep his voice healthier

Dam this guy was on leno, conan, and fucking kimmel back in the day!
As were other bands...?
So underrated! Saw them live. Awesome
Noexcuses27 Who underrated them??
First time I saw Ed singing this song without a 7 string...... goodness his voice
Crossfade rocks, i freakin love this album!!!!
Man he is incredible live! Never knew
Amo su vos!!! y su pasión al cantar!.... Crossfade
Great band ! Any comebacks in 2023?
V
that HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGH sounds so good
2000's men.. good times and good music
Strong vocals and guitar at the same time
I recorded this onto a VHS when it was on lol. Thank you for this video
O vocalista é o cara!! Excelente
Amazing vocals
Thats a sick live version, voice is good.
1:01 is perfect 👌
Great song!
What a voice
CROSSFADE4LIFE
Fantastic.
THEY SAY HE'S NEVER GONNA HAVE TUSSIN AGAIN, OR HE HAS NEVER 'DONE' TUSSIN NOT EVEN ONCE THANK GOD :0
he does sampling and dj stuff too
I still can't believe that they have a member of the band that does nothing but backing vocals.
Band that doesn't mime!! Hell yeah!!
That growly "cold" at :54 is fun
This performance is 5x better than the studio version. Damn that last minute is 💥💥💥💥💥🤌🤌🤌🤌
Lower and lower in each new vid. What is this, like tuned down to B flat or something?
thats why he fails at the begining of the song lol
Actually, this song was recorded with a seven string, which is a baritone, in drop A (ADADGBE), so that probably has a lot to do with why it sounds different.
sickb2200 drop c i guess
Drop C actually
it's in drop d not B
i prefer in drop D, but this is good
@Zachary Williams I thought the song was in Drop D but on a 7 string
@@Brandon2940 The original song is actually in Standard B with a full step down dropped 6th string, but he's not even using the 7 strings guitar for this performance.

And now I can sing it Karaoke! :)
It was never in drop D.
PEAK PERFORMANCE 🔥
Even play 10 semitones downs sounds awesome
0:52 - 1:05 dope
Ed sounds wayyy better towards the end when his pitch went higher.
Was this live in "The Jay Leno Show"?
what guitar is that?
That guitar freaking punches.
He never meant to beat Stone Cold, and I believe him.
Crossfade sounds better singing just like this, you can actually here the words and Ed playing the guitar.
fucking incredible!
cause he has like a different guitar in every live performance.
These guys sound solid. I don't see what's the problem with the downtuning.
SaidoKun much easier to perform every night not having to go as high I am sure. Lots of bands do it. It’s more of a strategy thing to deliver a badass performance might after night!
This sounds so great like this.
Plus my mans is playing the hell outta that guitar b
suppose to be in drop D
Keep trying to figure out what effing key to play this in. It's always different haha
Original is in Drop D. This performance is in Drop C. A whole step down.
actually I think electric is way down in drop C....
lower tuning?
Hell yeah
Yea too bad tony is gone He's 👍
Vince Gedeon Didn't they stop Making music like 6 years ago?
Tony was such a huge part of their sound, really sucked when he left
I guess for me there’s just no hope..
Ed is very talented not fukn easy to sing. play some lead and rhythm guitar too!
ES UNA MUY BUENA BANDA SUENA BIEN EL GUITARRISTA LA HEC BIEN PERO LA SEGUNDA VOZ DEBE TOCAR LA SEGUNDA GUITARRA ES NECESARIO LE DARIA MAS FUERZA ALA CANCION
Wow the back up vocalist has sounds really niceeee, better than the lead Ed.
No. Ed is much better. Hence, why he’s the lead.
You must be on crack lol
started out flat and out of tune..but they got into the grove of the song.
I was actually quite impressed. The venue is notoriously difficult to deal with and makes, even very good acts, struggle. Adjusted after the first little bit and did really well.
Sure did. Mix is bad too from sound guy. But there is alot of complaints from major acts about playing in a TV studio vs live venue
@tekson exactly correct
Probably because they change the key so often, and the vocals come right in before the music lol not easy
It sounds so awkward with Ed playing this on a 6 string
This whole band looks like they should be working in a shed with metal parts and pieces for cars.
Benjamin Mooney it’s because the guy in the hat looks like Paulie jr from American chopper
My thoughts exactly
Okay this rips even harder tuned lower.
Agreed. Singing is better when he is yelling at this tuning
U find this guy at a 711..
Sings to yelly
Drop D now! Don't like the ax sound
Yeah it sounds like its missing something.
Evan Drince whats missing is hes not using his usual 7 string Schecter. The scale length and what not add a lot to the old crossfade sound. This is the only show where I've seen him not use a 7 string.
What exactly does the dude with the hat actually do in the band? Lol
Matt Dillon He played the Turntables and Samples for the band.
Matt Dillon Well he sung in the song xD
+Matt Dillon he does the harmonys and i believe i saw in an interview he writes alot of the vocal parts and does all the harmonys on the album

Disagree. Ed Sloan has much better range. He’s got raw emotional power that comes from his voice which is rare.
These guys are not so great live
LIES!
Horseshit
The backup singer unnecessary
