I will confess that Africa is the one area I don’t know that much about. Admittedly, the history of Africa is often treated as a horror story, especially in America. It is too often dominated as ‘what not to do as a state’ or ‘why imperialism is bad’, but this video presents the rich history of Africa, as simply the rich history of Africa. Thank you for your contributions to the spreading of this history!

This is an amazing video! I never heard much about the Asante Empire, even in school. So hearing about its strength, culture, social structure, and more makes me pretty eager to learn more.
Although, I have two general questions:
    - What languages were most popular in the Asante Empire and did the Asante Empire enforce said language?
    - Does the culture and social structure of the Asante Empire still affect modern-day West African nations?
    I thank you dearly.

I remember when I was in discord and saw you making this video! I love your videos as they give so much information about history that I am not well versed in. I also find it interesting in how important of a role the Ohema had, a pretty interesting position to give a woman in terms of power structures and choosing successors. One question was this a reflection of greater gender role structures in the area (women determining inheritance) or was it only limited to this rulership?

    • @Bamise

Religious Priest in Asante were mostly women
