Always looking forward to these videos...but is there any way to get a breakdown of what each character means? I have an idea for some of them but not all of them.
I will try to explain, as a Romanian, the whole video.
=== Alba: the capital of that county is where the Great Union took place (Transylvania uniting with Romania, the event which is celebrated on Romania's national day). So you can imagine people get crazy patriotic when they think of Alba (the song in the background is also very patriotic). Also, on the territory of that very city, there used to be a major Roman city.
=== Arad: average Romanian peasant-ish county, with a Transylvanian background
=== Arges: the priest is probably a reference to the Curtea de Arges monastery, one of the most famous in the country. Also, a bunch of Rromani over there.
=== Bacau: Typically Moldavian (and very religious) county.
=== Bihor: Very close ties to Hungary. In fact, Oradea (the capital of Bihor, featured here) is just 15 km away from the border, and everyone in the city has some sort of Hungarian ancestry.
=== Bistrita-Nasaud: Typical hillbilly county, with some kitschy beauty standards.
=== Botosani: Another typically Moldavian county, our greatest poet was born there (which fuels patriotism).
=== Brasov: Bran Castle (aka Dracula's castle) is located there. Also, there's an immense population of bears, people there are used to bear encounters.
=== Braila: Average county, kinda strange in some respects ig? (hence the alien)
=== Bucharest: Capital and biggest city, of course it will have the wealthiest people, the most modern music, the most twinkjaks (or softies in general), and of course, Westernized woke women, with short hair, probably part of LGBTQ, feminist, and a bunch of other radical beliefs. Ah, and they drink fancy craft beer, because hipsters.
=== Buzau: Average county where everyone listens to manele (modern Rromani music).
=== Caras-Severin: Western Romanian county. Known for the Bigar waterfall (in the picture), which sadly no longer exists (it collapsed after some thunderstorms in 2021).
=== Calarasi: Average hillbilly county, part of the Baragan Plain (where tons of wheat grow). Women in that part of the country are tough as hell (probably for good reason).
=== Cluj: Features Cluj-Napoca, the second-biggest city in Romania and Bucharest's competition. The paradise of Westernized woke (and/or LGBTQ) people. Clujeans are extremely proud - if you tell them Cluj isn't the greatest city in all of existence, they cry bitterly. Also ig it's where the Na*i phenomenon in Romania was born? idk
=== Constanta: Seaside, lots of manele listeners, lots of "coomers", and lots of scantily clad women.
=== Covasna: Lots of Hungarians live there (the song intends to remind us that *the Romanians* were the first there lol). The bread roll in the pic - kurtos kalacs - comes from there and is adored by Romanians at country fairs anywhere in the country.
=== Dambovita: Average rural county. The pic is from Bucharest, actually, and it's of the Dambovita River (which gives the county just upstream of Bucharest its name).
=== Dolj: Lots of Rromani and manele. People there have a short temper and won't hesitate to fight you. (the guy on the left tho makes no sense, twinkjaks are the literal opposite of manele listeners)
=== Galati: Pimp and videochat girls all over that city, the one business still working. The song playing - a manea (singular of "manele") - is the beloved unofficial anthem of the local football team (Otelul Galati).
=== Giurgiu: Tons of Rromani.
=== Gorj: Some big fat monasteries, boomers, lots of folkloric Romanian music... but idfk what the Na*i is doing there
=== Harghita: Covasna but with more proud Romanians. Quite rural.
=== Hunedoara: Quite poor and depressing county, but at least there's the Hunyad Castle (in the pic).
=== Ialomita: Tons of Rromani. Also, a fake Eiffel Tower in the county's capital. (Bucharest btw has a fake Arc de Triomphe)
=== Iasi: I mentioned the Great Union. There was also a Little Union - between Wallachia and Moldavia - and it took place in Iasi. Another patriotic song in the background. The city is also a major cultural centre - hence the dark academia young wojaks and the Palace of Culture as the pic.
=== Ilfov: Practically Bucharest's suburbs. Average people, who have their roots in the countryside but their livelihood is in the city (and they listen to whatever the radios give them). Yeah that's most Romanians for you
=== Maramures: rural county. The capital, Baia Mare (about which the song in the background is), is a pretty depressing city and has a tough rap community.
=== Mehedinti: average county, with boomers who miss Communism (and probably failed to skip a boat over the Danube to get into the less oppressive Yugoslavia in their youth). In the pic, the stone-carved sculpture of the Dacian king Decebalus (aka, patriotism based on ancestry!).
=== Mures: Lots of Hungarian Rromani there (the song is from that area). On the left, Vlad the Impaler - a cruel, but beloved medieval Wallachian ruler, which Romanian nationalists would probably call upon to make "order" (aka enforce their xenophobia).
=== Neamt: Two kinds of people there. The patriots - who are proudly going to the many monasteries in that county, as well as the Neamt Fortress and the Ceahlau Mountains. And the others, who hate the guts of their existence there and run off to Bucharest or straight to Italy, Spain and the UK.
=== Olt: Lots of Communist boomers. Poor county, with decaying cities.
=== Prahova: A county with average peasants, for the most part. Also, oil workers, because that's (still) the centre of Romania's once major oil production and refining industry.
=== Satu Mare: Lots of Hungarians there (but idfk what the proud German is doing there).
=== Salaj: Rural county, it's the region in Romania which they make of fun of that it doesn't actually exist.
=== Sibiu: This is where the proud German wojak belongs. The city got quite wealthy and famous in the last two decades. The guy on the left is probably a reference to our current (ethnically German) president, who's from Sibiu.
=== Suceava: Lots of "cool" guys there, and very religious county (with many monasteries, just like Neamt, which is just south of this county). The song references Bucovina - the region in Romania and Ukraine where Suceava is located.
=== Teleorman: Dirt poor, where the only well-off people are mafia men and politicians. Has crappy folkloric music and can't seem to get out of Communism (kinda like Olt, which is just west of this county).
=== Timis: The capital, Timisoara, is the third-largest city in Romania, its westernmost major city, and the place where the Romanian Revolution of 1989 (which ended Communism) started. Hence the very educated people, the (yet again) LGBTQ crowd, and the rock music in the background (Timisoara is like the Liverpool of Romania in this regard). As for the Arab girl... some Syrian refugees, on their way to Hungary, ended up in the westernmost reaches of Romania, i.e. Timis county.
=== Tulcea: Boomers, a bunch of ethnic minorities (an Aromanian song in the background), and the Danube Delta - very important for the local economy. Lots of ships, and lots of fishing.
=== Vaslui: The capital city of the same name is basically Baia Mare, but in the east of Romania (also has a rap community too). The whole county is awfully poor and depressing.
=== Valcea: Average southern county of Romania (just north of Olt actually), with some nice folklore and scenery.
=== Vrancea: e a r t h q u a k e s

We keep asking them but they really want to do that when the extremists get at least 10 counties which doesn't seem so improbable...
Cam multe rateuri.

I was recently on a road trip through Romania and among other things, I tried DESPERATELY to find the traces of the Germans who were forcefully and semi-voluntarily expelled from their cities where they once were a majority. Turns out They're all in Satu Mare and I just about missed it.
All of the buildings remain though. My parents noted that the city seemed very German but despite having it as one of my main goals, I did not encounter a SINGLE German in all of Transylvania...
It was a very sad experience but the nature and the historical parts where they once were remain. Same goes for western Poland which we passed on the way home
I went to Sighisoara (Schäßburg) in August and half of the people i met were german.
The Germans were queuing to leave the country, and after 1990, whoever was left went to Germany en masse. Nothing forceful, where did you get your information from? Anyway, if you really wanted to meet a German, there is one in Cotroceni. We are impatiently waiting to get rid of HIM.
Unlike Poland and Hungary, Romania did not expel the Germans. They left especially after 1990 and everybody considered it a huge loss, but nobody forced them.
We have a german president if you don’t know. They were not expeled. It this country we never had an anti-german position.
