You Really did SUCH a great job with this tutorial!! Your instructions and camera work are EXCELLENT & much appreciated by your viewers! Great pattern and such wonderful details to make the PERFECT H2O 2GO tote. Thank you so much for this tutorial.
Why do folks feel the need to give the thumbs down on a tutorial meant only to be helpful? I can understand a thumbs down on controversial topics, but this is not one of those at all. Please be kind and scroll by if this isn’t your cup of tea!
Hi Jess, I just love your classes and learn to love you as if you are my own daughter. This bag will change my life forever for the good, and I mean it from the bottom of my heart. Thank you ever so much. Do not stop what you are doing, you are kind and unique and a born teacher.
I was going to sign up for an expensive 2 day class at my local sewing studio because I was too intimidated to try making this bag but your easy to follow step by step video guided me through and somehow I successfully completed my first H2O2GO bag! Thank you so much! You are the best! My strap came out a bit wonky since I cannot sew straight so I decided to use my serger with the knife off to finish the edges and that improved the look immensely plus I have some in the hoop embroidery strap end files I will use to finish it.
Thanks for the tutorial on the H2O 2 GO SLING pattern by Linds Handmade. I used a waterproof canvas with rubber backing on the outside and a thick waterproof lining. All went well apart from when I did the bottom - a few minor creases and a bit mis-shaped but still useable. Will try out different fabrics next time and do the purse option. The slip pocket is deep enough to keep sunglasses or spectacles. I had some 1” cotton webbing which I used for the strap. Great pattern and quite quick to come together. Thanks again Jess and Linds for a fabulous make.
I've been reluctant to sew this bag, but after watching your tutorial video, I think I can do it! Thank you again, Jess. You are one of my favorite sewing teachers!
I LOVE this! This project will make an excellent gift for literally anyone who isn't in a coma, as we all drink water! I've been trying to think of something not too complicated to make for men and this really fits the bill. I have several colors of cotton webbing I bought years ago to make halters for my horses. I no longer have horses, so I have plenty left over. I love that I already have everything I need to make this, today! Well, after I finish the bowl cozies I'm making for my sister's BFF.
I just decided I would make this bag H2O to go for my daughter Charlotte her birthday is in 2 weeks and was wondering if Jess has a tutorial for it and voila it showed up the next day. I watch your videos everyday and appreciate passion and energy and you are a great teacher
Thanks for creating this tutorial using fabric with waterproof canvas! I have the cutest dog fabric I want to use (as this is the bag I would take when walking/hiking with my dog)!
Made my first h2o 2 go bag... I'm still breathing.. was tougher than I imagined but I am new at this! I will try try try until I master it!! Great video as always!!
I purchased this pattern quite a bit ago. I am so happy to see you make the H20 sling. You honestly make everything so much easier and keep us all entertained and focused. What I have trouble with...you clear up in a quick minute for me. Thank you for all you do.
I love that you are okay with imperfection! That is what makes sewing so much fun! You can create things with character and often they are one of a kind! Thanks for another wonderful tutorial. ❤️🥰
I just finished my first H20 to Go, I love this pattern and the tutorials are sooooo helpful, thank you ! My mini tea flask fits perfectly along with all my dog walking paraphernalia. Thank you, both
I received my pattern today in the mail, yes, I am one of those that love printed patterns, ANYWAY......excited, I have a grandaughter in Rugby and I am hoping she will love it. But clipping the zipper is new to me...........but I always trust her patterns the first go around........thank you Jess for the demo.
Tip: if you forego the front pocket and cut both pieces from the liner pattern piece, cut the main piece 1/4" longer, so that the liner is a touch smaller, and fits perfectly inside
I love the finished product. Such cute fabric. Thank you so much for doing this tutorial. I've had the pattern for a while and watched several other videos but was really hoping you would do one!
I just have to say thank you for your tutorials. I just made this and love it. I have made several of the patters from your tutorials. I’m ordering the pattern for the back pack and will be working on that tonight.
I bought this pattern a few days ago and have been putting of starting it. I can't wait to get started after seeing your video. I learn better by watching than by reading directions. Thanks so much for making this excellent tutorial.
definitely think i’ll give this a try, might be a bit ambitious for my skill level but this is a very good tutorial and i think as long as i read all the directions and pour over this video i will be good
It is for beginners. I've been trying to make this for 2 days lol. Thank God for seam rippers. The front zip pocket came out beautiful but, I will never try using canvas as a slip pocket or credit card slots on a domestic machine again. The seams were way too thick.
I do have the pattern. I was so excited to see you dong this for your tutorial. I also watched her tutorial after I purchased the pattern and gave her a thumbs up also. It’s fun to,watch you both. 🙌🏻👍🏻
I LOOOVE the H20 2GO. It’s pure perfection. I’ve made 3-4 of them... I just have to perfect the bottom, it’s actually the exterior bottom. I’ve tried once with her updated tips for it & it did turn out a little better ☺️
I bought the pattern awhile ago but I have been wanting for you to make a video. Everyone has an industrial machine so I want to see how you'd interface and deal with the layers working on a domestic machine.
Some older machines can handle heavy stuff. A friend of mine bought an old sewing machine at a yard sale for 5 bucks without knowing much about it, so he wanted me to check it out first and eventually teach him how to use it. It's a 1964, heavy (35 pounds!) all-metal Brother machine (in turquoise! So cute!). I've been having a blast sewing heavy canvas and denim projects my fancy machine can't handle. I love this machine, it's so powerful and simple like the machines we had in middle school home ec classes. I know I need to give it back, and give him lessons like I promised. SIGH... I think I might have to insist on having visitation rights to "Baby Blue", now I have fallen in love with it! For sure, I need to make this bag for my friend. He and his German Shepherd are part of our local search and rescue team here on the mountain where we live so I think he will really like it. Maybe add an extra pocket for dog treats.
I have been on a search for an older machine. But haven't found one that doesn't need a ton of fixing. But right now, I have a Pfaff. Don't know why I'm sweating this bag, I have made plenty of bags in the past. I sew with denim and Pendleton so I'm sure I can handle this bag.
@@MsSharkie12 Pfaffs are wonderful machines! Yes, your Pfaff should do fine with this. I wish I still had mine. It was a 1970s era workhorse, could sew through 8 layers of denim. I took it to a friend's house, and it disappeared. No one could tell me what happened to it. I know they had an emergency yard sale to pay some bills, and I think that's when it "disappeared". I definitely won't do that to my sweet friend who loaned me his machine.
@@LazyIRanch Yeah, I love my Pfaff. And I'm sorry you lost yours. It's very hard to trust these days, i wouldn't lend anyone my machine. I'd offer to do the sewing for them.
Thanks for yet another Excellent tutorial. I made one of these when the pattern first came out and admit I did struggle a bit, but just made one while following along with your video and it was so very much easier and ended up so much nicer. You are amazing. I base my decision to buy a bag pattern mostly on whether or not Jess has a video for it !!!
Love everything you do! I especially appreciate that you are using a domestic, I’m often too scared to follow other tutorials because they use industrials. Thank youuuuu
Thanks for a great tutorial! Do you have any videos on overstitching? I am still not able to overstitch evenly, especially in curved projects like this one. Help!
Great tutorial. I have made 4 so far. The first I made accordingly to instructions, it lacked structure, to me. I then added heavier interfacing to the bag it looks great but too hard on the hands sewing the base. I finally added sponge to the lining it works great. Fantastic pattern and idea. My daughter and her friends go bushwalking every weekend and they will be presents for them for Christmas. Thanks again for your tutorial it really gave me the courage to have a go. Merry Christmas to all, yours sincerely Mary
I just got around to making one. I dont know how your base ovals came out so perfect. I didnt do it until the liner but I made.little cuts around the circular part to help even out the top with the base like with the zipper. My exterior came out all kinds of wonky!
Great tutorial, glad I watched it helped me understand the pattern so much better. I went to an upholstery store to buy waterproof canvas but thought it was pretty thick. Looks like your canvas is lighter weight. Can you advise me please. Thanks again for all the time you spend doing theses tutorial’s.
Made this twice. First time, I broke a needle. Followed every step. Second time, went a lil better. Didn’t add the zipper pocket, and also sewed the decovils which worked better. When sewing the bottom part to the body, I sewed inside where I sewed the decovil and looked better. Although next time, I won’t bother using the oval shaped bottom, I’ll round it out more that way four corners won’t seem too curved which I found too be problematic when sewing. Lastly, I think thinner waterproof canvas is much better than the thick one.
Bought the pattern and the svg file too. My hubby surprised me with the acrylic templates for Christmas. I got as far as the front exterior, then tried to sew the bottom and it was a big FLOP. To get that top edge nicely rolled for the top stitching, wet your fingertips. That makes rolling quilting cotton sooo easy
Great bag. I am an intermediate sewist so I can't even attempt it. But maybe one day I will. Thanks for sharing.
the secret to any round seam is to clip in halves
half, then quarter, then eighth
this also works for the rounded edges
