Edit: Hadn't watched the video to the end when I asked.
What was the gage wiring on this unit? Curious if it's just thicker sheath or higher gage wiring causing that bulk.
Looking at either this model or their new version on ebay for $160. Lightly used, but sold from the manufacturer on there. The new version doesn't have the LCD screen, but the connector mounts on the unit itself when not in use which is nice. Only one thing to mount.

Yep 8 gauge wiring. It's a solid unit.

@@TechnicallyJeff If any technical/build specs were equal, would you recommend the new version or the old version? Only big difference seems to be no LCD screen, but they have their own app now to control it with which probably reports the same information. I'd probably use their app either way since I don't have AT&T home internet so wouldn't get much other use out of the Smart Home app, if I could use it at all.
Seems they just moved the RFID receiver up, removed the LCD screen, and put the connector mount on the unit directly which looks pretty sleek to me.
Oh, also your link on your website for the Nurzviy is dead because they changed it to this new version.

@@TechnicallyJeff You should reach out to them and see if they'll send you a new one to review, if you're willing

If you don't need the screen, the newer version is a solid deal. Thanks for the heads up on the link!

Do you know if these bigger units have fans in them to keep them cool? I’ve noticed on hot summer days with the sun shining directly on my charger it throttles down big time. Not a huge deal and it was not a big box like charger like this one is.

Good question. No there isn't any fan on units like this that I'm aware of. It does have thick wiring which is good for temps. Usually throttling (at least for the EV6) happens when the connector gets too hot, not necessarily the controller.

@@TechnicallyJeff yeah it’s the controller for me. If I aim a desk fan on the controller it will start charging faster. But it only happens when trying to charge at 40amps and the controller is in direct sunlight. The handle is always in the shade since the car is blocking the sun from that side. Would be nice to find one I can put in direct sunlight and it not throttle.

Oh that's crazy. These bigger units should have better internal cooling since they are larger. What charger are you using now?

There is no fan inside the device. In theory, if the temperature is high and triggers an overheating warning, the current will decrease.

      Thanks for the info.
