I LOVE that he acknowledged the Sonic the Hedgehog vibes that his music has always given me from day one.
Jun Senoue!
Glad I’m not the only one!
Fractal-specific rig rundowns, this idea has a lot of potential.
Nice to hear the programming details for the patch along with the tones.
I second the motion
That lead tone is so greasy! Loved this.
will you please re create it for us?🥺🙏🏻
Yes please recreate it for us
it never ceases to amaze me the adjectives people use to describe tones haha greasy is a good one
WE NEEEEEEED AN INTERVALS PRESET PACK
The fuzz through the Friedman is straight up awesome sauce. Glad I got the chance to nerd out with the homie everyday. Fiddles are super dialed
Did you ever play through an actual Friedman maybe a dirty Shirley? It’s night and day
This dude knows his stuff, digging this!
He’s one of the nicest guys to talk to! Spoke with him 3 months back, he’s just a good guy!
I hope we get a gift of tone of one of these presets
I thought Aaron was on the QC now... back on the AxeFX... I can't keep up! Great video.
Saw him play with both setups 3 months apart. I just sold my QC, now I’m looking into the Axe Fx.
Yes - got rid of my Qc waiting FM8
@@adamcontreras9710 dang bro! I’ve been waiting on a QC, maybe I should stick with my AxeII?
@@KRayxKodessA
Had the quad and all its promises of which few have arrived ! Axefx deliver - effects routing update
Editor - etc !!!
Once your past the gimmicky interface I realised I need my 1500 investment behind me not on the floor
Axefx environment and user group are also outstanding !
Amp vs amps they are both brilliant !
But more variables in the Axefx make it more flexible and tuneable !
I may revisit in a couple of years once they catch up !!!
QC def has its place but look at the details he can get into w the AFX..... think ab your needs!
🎉🎉🎉
Awesome tone! Pls share your Fractal presets 🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥
Damn those tones are so sweet!!
so good!
Does Aaron sell his presets, I quite enjoy his tones.
playing in drop d now awesome!
Good sounds. Awesome guitar too.
3:32 Anyone else get a minor dose of the Top Gun theme song vibe from this riff too?
AAL uses the Cameron model for rhythm too. hmmm…looks like I’ll try. been on HBE for all rock stuff.
He was using the Quad Cortex until very recently. What happened?
He mentioned that having the rig in a rack is more reliable and safe from potential accidents
@@jeremiahmcgowan thanks! Where did you see that quote?
@@davidfavaloro2034 he said it at a show I just went to on this last tour
@@jeremiahmcgowan cool, thanks!
Also it’s fucking miles better !!😎🤪
Cool run down!!!
Why there some kind of clipping at 5:13 (looks like above 4-5khz)? Is it supposed to sounds like that?
Intro song please!?
Wasn't super excited about the lead tones (too much going and sounds super sterile imho). But that heavy rhythm tone at 8:42 is great.
Any chance of getting these presets?????????? Best i've heard in a long time!!
love it. Too many rig rundowns just proclaim “yeah, Here’s an axe fx on stage. 👀…k, moving on”
exactly. they should be doing a full breakdown of the bands' amps/pedals/cabs/other blocks within the Axe FX. a full decade of rundowns with modelers and they dropped the ball on almost every single one with a fractal
When you're in a liking wet guitar tones competition and your opponent is Aaron Marshall.
When you are using the fractal to go to the FOH and to a cabinet do you use the stock impedance curve or one of the Load box curves? Sounds amazing either way
Not sure what Aaron does, but I use the impedance curve closest to the cabinet. For ex., I’m using a Soldano vertical slant 2x12 (v30s) so I change the impedance curve to the SOLO 4x12. I tried matching the IR I’m sending to FOH (which are exported IRs from the GetGood Cali plug in), but matching the cab felt better to me. Probably because I’m pushing air from the cabinet and interacting with that on stage more than the IR going to FOH
With the horsepower of the AxeFx3 you could do 2 of the same rigs in one preset as long as the original wasn't using 2 amps to start with. One with IR impedance curve and the other with the cab impedance curve.
@@_mysilentblue2227 I’m using the FM3 so limited as far as what you’re outlining. But that is an excellent point!
@@davidfavaloro2034 👍 to tell you the truth, if the FM3 was out when I pulled the trigger on Fractal I would have saved myself $1600. I love this gear!
@@_mysilentblue2227 I’m actually on the waiting list for the FM9. FM3 is perfect for 99% of what I’m trying to do most of the time. But on occasion want that little bit of extra horsepower and greater footswitch flexibility. Seems worth the extra $500
Hey, can you share your presets for us? I really like your sound than mine. Lol. thx.
He's not using a QuadCortex anymore?
still don't have his patches._.
So around the same time of this video, I saw a video on his live rig that was all Neural Quad Cortex. Did he switch to the Fractal or was this recorded before he switched to Neural?
He went from Fractal to the QC and then back to Fractal. I strongly suspect NDSP sponsored the tour for him when he was using that. In fairness that rig did sound very good, but having seen him live each time I can say the Fractal rig sounds a little better to me. Just more "polished". At least I think so, but I could be biased because I'm a Fractal fan.
@@kevinp_25 You're correct. In the rig rundown 2 months before this video he says Neural asked him to take the QC for the tour.
Interesting to see he’s using schecter, l thought he had a signature model with mayones.
sig with mayones is canceled, his sig will be with Schecter!
Cooper, can you get that synth sound (4:12) on an FM9? I just bought the Boss SY-200 to add to my rig, but not sure how I am going to integrate it yet.
Absolutely. Check out the most recent Fractal Friday episode!
Aaron uses the Quad Cortex and the AxeFXIII on tour?
Used QC because the band was sponsored last tour. Now he's back to using what he actually prefers :)
@@GaryMcNeill I saw many Instagram lives from him talking about QC and it seems it was what he preferred, maybe it was sponsored too haha
@@GaryMcNeill his techs preferd the fractal over neural for ease of use .
@@GaryMcNeill plini seems to be the only guy who seems loyal to neural. He did use axefx but now most of the times he uses his plugin or QC. Fantastic plugin.
why 666?
What model of Schecter is that???
It’s his signature. Not out yet but supposed to be info soonish?
,,,HYPSTERS,,,
His nose is perpetually clog dogged
Axe fx has such a aggressive “square” clicky tone on patches, always here them used way over effected (just like this cat)
Just not smooooth or rich musically
My Axe Fx 3 sits quietly in the rack as I use my Marshalls and boogies and actual maxxon and screamers, boss od1 and yes pedal junky here!
Just never jived with it after almost 2 years I really don’t like the vibe and I’ve not heard anything this guys playing to change my mind it’s just the worst investment I have ever made in gear and I’m a gearaholic got the FC12 very cool tech! and an Apollo x6 interface ran via toslink/spdif so zero latency going through genelec near fields and it’s got a few usable metal presets but they all sound the same save EQ
And some nice clean Roland type cleans but nothing I would put against my twin, not even close
But to each his own, it has great FX and routing options but the emulations are no better than my old line 6 pods
Skill issue my dude
@@jadonsvd
I don’t know Jadon, Just last week I posted on the forum that I finally met a player of our circuit that uses an Axe3 live
He was nice enough to come by with his box, we hooked it up in place of mine and it sounded great, I mean so much better than I could have imagined
Afterwards he was trying mine out, checking all my settings and just couldn’t get it to sing, every patch has the same odd sterile, mid boost thing, think Brian Mays tone but you can’t dial it out regardless of the eq settings, I really think at this point my unit is defective
Skill has nothing to do with it, I’ve lots of top notch gear and zero issues, been at this music thing since ‘78
Kemper sounds fine, old POD works, even NI guitar rig and of course all my actual rigs
Not a fan of that tone
Anybody know what that first lick is from/ Seems like a good one to (try to) learn and practice.
It's the intro from his song "Lock & Key"
