I'll be honest i thought Wong only took Unity's side as a trick to get Unity to save the planet, since Wong said before that she'd have to lie. But I guess she really was taking a side?
Cool detail: I don't think Helen the therapist is a nutritionist at 8:05 , Rick just said that to confirm she was taken over by Unity. Correct me if I'm wrong, just a thought I had
It's up for debate. In the first episode she appears Morty's Principal went to her for his...eating habits. There were motivational posters about it on her walls. So I think that is partly why Rick said it too.
@@Necron00b That doesn't rly have anything to do with nutrition though. If you had problems with eating poop you obviously wouldn't go to a nutritionist, you'd go to a psychologist.
I agree with the fact that Rick has a right to not be around Unity anymore. However she only reached out because she was worried about him. Also if I'm remembering correctly, its been awhile since that episode, they broke up for a reason. I believe it wasn't because she didn't care about him, but because they brought out the worst in eachother.
Yeah, she can be worried about him, and she can break up with him. But she just disappeared an entire planet without saying anything, and just left a ton of notes saying it. She then refused to speak to him and had the borg dude she knows Rick hates deal with him. Rick then also attempted to unlike himself hut didn't because he dripped down crying. So he didn't need to answer her calls. And with her calls, she enslaved an entire state to try to talk to him. I'm pretty sure that's classed as being a toxic ex. She was worried about him, yes, hut he owed her nothing
I don’t think you owe an ex a response if they try to contact you, especially if the break up was bad like it was with Rick and Unity or if it was super toxic. Yeah, Rick definitely doesn’t owe Unity a response. It’s entirely understandable why he wouldn’t. But it kinda gets murky when there were so many messages. Even if he didn’t want to talk with them, the volume of voicemails would surely warrant at least listening to them to make sure they’re not gonna do something to him. But given that they’re not deleted, it either means that he saw them and decided not to listen to them or listened but didn’t do anything in response. The second thing’s entirely understandable for him to do, but if he knew she was worried about him to the point of looking for him, a response kinda feels necessary. It doesn’t even have to be long, it just has to let them know that he’s fine (as he can be). Could even tell them he doesn’t want anymore contact in the same message. They both had their reasons for doing what they did, one more extreme and messed-up than the other, but still. Just a little bit of communication on Rick’s side could’ve cleared up the whole mess before it happened. Dr. Wong telling Rick he’s in the wrong for what he did isn’t an objective truth, but his handling of the Unity situation ended up making things worse. Again, not saying that he owes a response to every ex that calls him, but a situation like this necessitates a level of care that Rick couldn’t quite bring himself to muster. Beyond learning how to not cause and escalate problems, he also needs to at least keep an eye on the problems already made. Sometimes other people can solve them, but he can’t completely remove himself from them. Ignoring stuff doesn’t always make it go away.
I never loved first Unity episode like most people but I wanted them to get back together by the end of this one. Love Rick’s development, love Dr Wong, love the zombie vibes, and love the Virginia shoutout
Oh my god after rewatching this I just remembered the alien showed rick getting killed by Bigfoot And in future episodes Bigfoot did kill rick The ALIEN CAN SEE THE FUTURE Damn the subtle hints was amazing lmao
I am still laughing at the fact that alien that could possibly predict the future, really couldn't. They set it up in such a way that makes you think that it was going to happen
I’ve just noticed something Unity made her first appearance in the third episode of the second season and then she returns for the third episode of the seventh season. We haven’t seen her for five seasons.
I don't remember the episode with Unity, it was in season 2 I recognized the character but I forgot her completely, in this episode I got to know her again And wow! I never thought about it but she's a healthy love for Rick, She seems to love him and care for him It's a match!
I don’t know why 3 episodes in we haven’t gotten a lot of morty, he is in the name of the show and he has his own voice actor now so I feel like he should be in most of the eosidoes
I gotta say I don't get how rick was in the wrong here. He broke up with a toxic relationship, blocked the "person", moved on with his life, she hears about him and ignores he doesn't want anything to do with her and she comes to the planet after no contact, then proceeds to take over an entire state, then when confronted, says it was just to see him? How in any of that was it Rick's fault and not completely on her? I don't get how he was the bad guy. She literally could have just come down and went to his house, yet didn't and instead made more hivemind. Apparently I agree entirely with Eric on this.
@@chadwood4412you’re completely wrong and she’s completely justified for taking over an entire state. If you don’t forcefully take away the will and minds of innocent people after being ignored then what are you even doing with your life?
Okay this rick felt virtually identical but that End Therapy sounded soooo different. And yet if i didnt know it was different i dont think I'd notice.
Yeah, so someone breaks his heart, he decides to not allow them back into his life, they force their way back in by creating a hostage situation. Violating 2 boundaries 1. She’s not supposed to do this on earth, 2. He is under no obligation to speak with her and she forces the issue. Then, his therapist crosses a professional boundary by knowingly dating someone in his personal life. Then without his consent, that therapist calls it “couples therapy”, when that was never the agreement, and flat out calls him wrong for trying to keep boundaries. And at the end he’s supposed to feel bad about everyone who violated his boundaries. And the last bit where he’s like “I trust you”… why would he? It’s like this script is trying to gaslight the audience. I mean… what the absolute fuck
I think that when people break up and are no longer in a relationship, they don’t owe each other anything. When they break up and have a kid, they still have a relationship, it’s just a different kind of relationship
This season has pleasantly surprised me so far. In my opinion, it’s been the best one since like season 3 or maybe 5. Still too early to tell. My only gripe is that Morty has barely been in any of the episodes so far
Well I think about it this way: Think of the song "somebody that I used to know". Yes she dumped him and for many people letting go equals fully breaking contact. That is how that song was born. But you can let go without ignoring each other. I don't think Rick did something wrong here. I do think though that replying respectfully would have given both a better feeling about it. Someone breaking up with you doesn't mean they stopped caring, and now you owe them no attention. It means they made a decission that they felt best for you both.
Rick didn’t owe Unity anything. Not his progress, not life updates, not a return call. Rick finally had boundaries in place, including an agreement that she wouldn’t hive mind people where he lived. She completely overstepped those boundaries. When she broke up with him, she let her little rebound bf deal with Rick. Rick had a repellant spray made to keep Unity away. Pretty clear “leave me alone”. That could have been to keep her from stopping him from going after Prime, or to protect Unity from getting hurt with Prime drama. But either way, she knew to stay gone. It was fine for her to want to check up on him but she wasn’t owed an answer. And because of their agreement, she knew she’d have to release people she took from earth. Her “look what you made me do”-ing him when she got hurt releasing them was gaslighting.
Isn’t the break up dilemma a matter of mutuality? Unity broke up with Rick, they knew Rick was not providing the kind of influence they could handle in their life at the time. Rick didn’t take it as well as he could have, and he still wanted to be with Unity. If Rick had no part of him that wanted to be with Unity, the break up would be purely mutual and Rick would not be expected to get back with Unity if given the chance necessarily. However, by ghosting Unity when he displayed dismay by the breakup, Rick leads Unity on. Rick acts resentful and isolates himself throughout the episode at first when he himself is the one who felt resented and pushed away. If I am not mistaken, the problem with Rick’s behavior is that he is projecting the emotions he felt back then against Unity now for trying to better herself. It is not to say that Rick’s feelings are invalid, he was extremely emotionally distant at the time and it is difficult to deal with one’s emotions without others to talk to. Anyone in an affectionate relationship feels that if it is not mutual, but he went a step too far by taking those feelings and using them in spite and passive aggression.
How does Stabby getting questions from the audience result in him stabbing them? LOL so silly. I am really enjoying this season so far. It feels more like classic Rick and Morty, slower paced, goofy episodes with fun stories that don't feel like a forced parody of something else (even their early parodies didn't feel forced). I just hope they will throw in some good multiverse adventures as well with the same feel, maybe an episode or two that gives us all a good mind fuck, they used to be pretty good at that.
I think the therapists point is that someone who cares about Rick was worried about him, and trying to check on his well being, because she heard he is back on a dark path. She doesn't tell Rick he's wrong because he owed her contact, but to remind him ghosting her was how old Rick always chose to act, by cutting everyone out of his real feelings, and he's actively trying to be better.
I dont think the choice to see whos calling has anything to do with if your default is to answer or not. My default is to not answer, when I look I have already decided Im not gonna answer, Im just seeing whos call Im missing or that its not my doctor or smth
If memory rick is stuck in Jerry I feel like he'd want out and to come to life, I feel like Memory rick would want nothing but a healthy loving relationship with his family because he hasn't gotten so damn lost in his search for his families killer
I believe Dr. Wong was not saying Rick was in the wrong for not responding to Unity. She was saying Rick was wrong for ghosting Unity and then expecting a favor from her (being saving Earth from the President). Although Rick knew that he wasn't owed this favor but could not admit it himself, so he invited Dr. Wong to convey this for him. So it's definitely reasonable to choose not to answer the person that dumped you. But you can't be selective on when or when not to respond to them depending on if the situation benefits you.
She didn't owe him the favor. She owed it to the millions of people that were being taken over by the president cause she decided to come and forcibly mindhive an entire state just cause she wanted to talk to him.
Yup. Kinda funny a lot of peeps aren't catching that fact. 🤷♂ seemed obvious to me. Also, I'm pretty sure he isn't trapped in Jerry's mind anymore. He's the one who saved them apparently by saving their ego's. It was a ordeal, a whole action movie type thing lol but I'd think when they had all repaired in the end, memory Rick is safe and sound with Rick once more. I think at least
I wanted to see Rick battle Rick Prime, the Loch Ness monster, and every other scenario the series skips over. Even some more of the Morty mind blowers would be awesome. It upsets me that they skip over them.
tbh im with Rick on this episode, especially with how Summer acted. She went to someone who was grieving in pain and expected them to be nice to her just because she was asking questions? And then she snaps at them when they're reminded of their lowest? I get that Rick is a jerk sometimes, but what did she expect here? Rick tried to commit suicide last time he saw her, and Summer thought he'd just be fine? That scene bothered me. The show is leaning a little too much on the "everything is Rick's fault" idea tbh, especially when we're reminded that he's only a human and he's obviously hurting in this episode but no one seems to care. I agree with your take on the Unity thing. Rick was in no way obligated to answer Unity's calls, especially considering she couldn't even break up with him in person -- but rather just left him alone on a planet.
aaron admitting to getting back with an ex his opinion means f all, basically if i got cheated on id owe her a message back? like move on bro she didnt think you were good enough at one point
The problem wasnt Rick not answering, thats fair game, he is not obligated and he is not an Ahole for it The problem was him just "breaking in to her house" demanding for her to fix something she partly caused, to be fair, but something that she also wanted to fix before, after having a talk with Rick, who refused Tho Rick is in his right to refuse that talk, Fk her, but he cant just enter her ship and demand stuff either and thats the part Helen pointed out, and its also show that therapy is maybe working as Rick did brought Helen knowing he couldnt express what he was feeling about changing
Here's the thing though, the reason why rick didnt accept her help was because he didnt trust her (understandably so due to the nature of their breakup) and she should have expected this, rick only went back to her because her actions had unintended consequences that were not either of their's faults. He took wong with him to help him convey that he is trying to trust unity again by changing ...... At the end of it Unity basically responded by saying that "Well since you didnt trust me after i came in and (unintentionally fair enough) cause a shitstorm, i am also not going to trust you ....."
@@hanmitch457 Yeah i didnt get that from Unity at the end But i liked Ricks response, just leaving, not engaging or throwing in her face that she was acting pretty much with ego Any way, i just wanted to say Eric is right Its allllll fair if Rick doesnt answer her, he is not obligated, he is not in the wrong for it, or an Ahole for it He is only at fault for invading her space and demanding her help
Now that they've brought Unity back... I kinda want them to bring them back at least one more time. The original episode was such a gut punch... I'm glad they touched back on it.
I think that's the point of her coming back in the show. After her first appearance, it didn't make sense for her to come back. Rick and her didn't work. But since Rick is working on himself, well maybe it could work. This episode was for this. It could, but not yet. So i think she will have more appearance.
So...morty's voice is fine. And rick's is close but not perfect. Sometimes it sounds good and sometimes it does indeed sound like an impression. And im gonna miss the random burps. Oh well. Edit: like during the helicopter part in the beginning, sometimes rick's voice sounded a little strained. But again, oh well, im still enjoying it
Rick’s voice is spot on to me, but I’ve felt that Morty’s is a little off since the first trailer for this season, and it was most noticeable in this episode. I know these episodes were animated long before they knew they were going to have new voice actors, but I wonder if they could have rearranged the episode order to hold off on showing any Morty focused episodes right away. I just think it’s weird that we’re 3 episodes in and we’ve yet to see an episode where Morty is prominently featured. I worry that, when we really get to hear Morty, a lot of people aren’t going to like what they hear.
morty is literally a side character this season, its called rick AND morty. morty is the best part of a lot of episodes, dont know how mych more of this season ill watch if its just a rick season
Honestly I feel these episodes are getting worse and worse. It has gotten to sitcom like levels with nothing creative in them. Also should the show now be called "Rick and other people"? because Morty is barely in season 3.
The default in anything is neutrality or inaction. Taking any other action is by default not the default, it's making a choice. When answering your phone, the default is to see who's calling and then choose to answer or reject it. As for Rick and Unity, he wasn't being an asshole. I think that was just some woke stuff pushed by the writers. Unity broke up with Rick. They are not a part of each other's life anymore. She isn't owed contact with him, just like Rick wasn't owed contact with her back in season 2 when she broke up with him and he pursued her. That being said, you also don't have a right to complain if someone wants to contact you and you just ignore them. They have a right to pursue contact with you if they desire to. If you just ignore them instead of telling them that you don't want anything to do with them, then you can't be mad when they keep trying to contact you.
I don't know what surprised me more this episode: the return of Unity, or Rick's GENUINE mental and emotional growth.

Correct me if I'm wrong, just a thought I had
yeah that was what happened, pretty cool
It's up for debate. In the first episode she appears Morty's Principal went to her for his...eating habits. There were motivational posters about it on her walls. So I think that is partly why Rick said it too.
@@Necron00b That doesn't rly have anything to do with nutrition though. If you had problems with eating poop you obviously wouldn't go to a nutritionist, you'd go to a psychologist.
@@cjg60411 I didnt say it made her a nutritionist only that Rick decided to degrade her job title based off of it.
@@Necron00bno he sprayed her right after because that meant it wasn’t actually her, that was the point. It was a test to see for certain.
This episode was really good for me. Whenever the show focuses on characters especially Rick, it automatically peaks ten fold.
She felt that he was a bad influence. Which she isn’t wrong. Ricks no saint.
She was genuinely concerned for him but forcing his hand to get him to acknowledge that concern is where she is irrefutably in the wrong.
I love this ep, but one of my favourite parts is Aaron saying "oh jeeze* like morty at 8:20 lol😊
Ha! I just realized the Yeti attacking Rick drawing was predicting the Valhalla episode lol
Really enjoyed this episode so much and Keith Davis continues to be hilarious
David
“I just gotta get the… thing.” // “How is THAT gonna work?” 😂
I don’t think you owe an ex a response if they try to contact you, especially if the break up was bad like it was with Rick and Unity or if it was super toxic.
Oh my god, a fellow de blob pfp
I never loved first Unity episode like most people but I wanted them to get back together by the end of this one. Love Rick’s development, love Dr Wong, love the zombie vibes, and love the Virginia shoutout
Oh my god after rewatching this
I just remembered the alien showed rick getting killed by Bigfoot
And in future episodes Bigfoot did kill rick
The ALIEN CAN SEE THE FUTURE
Damn the subtle hints was amazing lmao
This is definitely my favorite ep of the season so far
OBLIGATION is the word you were looking for Eric!
I am still laughing at the fact that alien that could possibly predict the future, really couldn't. They set it up in such a way that makes you think that it was going to happen
Lol yea, that is what I was thinking.
In a future episode most likely.
Im just gonna leave my comment here in case it happens again.
RICK AND BIGFOOT LETS GO
I’ve just noticed something Unity made her first appearance in the third episode of the second season and then she returns for the third episode of the seventh season. We haven’t seen her for five seasons.
I love Unity. I'm glad we got to see more of her.
When Rick said "sorry" I damn near fell out of my chair. 😂
And Keith David is a national treasure!
I don't remember the episode with Unity, it was in season 2 I recognized the character but I forgot her completely, in this episode I got to know her again
And wow! I never thought about it but she's a healthy love for Rick,
She seems to love him and care for him
It's a match!
It could be if Rick was more healthy and she decided to chill and with the domination thing, which she would.
The branding of the lovers thing sounds like a rick and morty episode itself
Haven't been this early in awhile! Several returning characters in this episode. Looking forward to watching your reaction.
I’m 100% on Eric’s side. I have no obligation to reply to my ex.
I stand with Eric
I think we did get a glimpse of the Loch Ness when the president got a call from Rick
it feels like they talk about more insane stuff then showing it
I don’t know why 3 episodes in we haven’t gotten a lot of morty, he is in the name of the show and he has his own voice actor now so I feel like he should be in most of the eosidoes
i realized this as well. it’s really strange. not a single rick and morty adventure yet this season
Or he could have just picked up the phone told her everything was fine and none of this would have happened…
@@VicMacphee because turning an entire state into a hivemind because you were ignored is the appropriate response........
@@VicMacpheealso no. She was not owed anything. The relationship ended, and he'd moved on. If he doesn't want to talk, that's his choice, not hers.
Big agree
@@chadwood4412you’re completely wrong and she’s completely justified for taking over an entire state. If you don’t forcefully take away the will and minds of innocent people after being ignored then what are you even doing with your life?
Definitely one of my favorite episodes.
Ohio actually has its own somewhat famous cryptid, the Loveland Frogman. Which is ironic because Loveland is where I saw Bigfoot
Okay this rick felt virtually identical but that End Therapy sounded soooo different. And yet if i didnt know it was different i dont think I'd notice.
I said before, I love watching you guys try to take notes... this episode really ties that nonsense together, into a knot of meta-nonsense
Shoutout from a native north east Ohioan!
I think that when people break up and are no longer in a relationship, they don’t owe each other anything. When they break up and have a kid, they still have a relationship, it’s just a different kind of relationship
glad its not just me that thinks he had every right not to answer unity
Great episode finally!
God it was like pulling teeth with Erin after the reaction lol
How does Stabby getting questions from the audience result in him stabbing them? LOL so silly.
I am really enjoying this season so far. It feels more like classic Rick and Morty, slower paced, goofy episodes with fun stories that don't feel like a forced parody of something else (even their early parodies didn't feel forced). I just hope they will throw in some good multiverse adventures as well with the same feel, maybe an episode or two that gives us all a good mind fuck, they used to be pretty good at that.
This seasons honestly off to a great start
Troy Baker and Nolan North in the same episode, I wonder if they are friends again
I think jerrick was a foreshadow or the origin of doofus jerry🤔
A piece of morty is inside a gaming machine ...Coincidence?
I dont think the choice to see whos calling has anything to do with if your default is to answer or not. My default is to not answer, when I look I have already decided Im not gonna answer, Im just seeing whos call Im missing or that its not my doctor or smth
I wonder if they're gonna keep Rick and Morty apart in future episodes
Nah I doubt it. It is just the first three and they are just kinda brining out some old plot lines that need to be continued.
Yeah but it was technically her mess to clean up, she opened the can of worms and is obligated to see it cleaned up and closed
i love how they break fourth wall of American nowadays politics.
I usually don’t like Wong but I really liked her this episode. Good episode
Dr. Wong is brilliant.
bro i hear a train the background
I knew what it was right away
unity blocked rick out of her life and wouldn't let him fix it at the end of that episode in season 2. So Unity can and now will go F*** herself.
This episode was better than the first one
Rick's younger memory IS the same that is trapped now inside jerry
I think at least
dudes -EVERYONE sees Bigfoot here in the Pacific Northwest; we hear of Mothman once every few years - obvious bullsh...
Mr Stabby = Michael McIntyre
I wanted to see Rick battle Rick Prime, the Loch Ness monster, and every other scenario the series skips over. Even some more of the Morty mind blowers would be awesome. It upsets me that they skip over them.
Going thru a divorce this episode hit
tbh im with Rick on this episode, especially with how Summer acted.
I’m
Just gutted you haven’t gone back to kung fu panda 😂
aaron admitting to getting back with an ex his opinion means f all,
basically if i got cheated on id owe her a message back? like move on bro she didnt think you were good enough at one point
for me this episode was in the same vein as the first episode of this season: it was really interesting, but not really all that funny in my opinion.
Obama’s always trying to get with my therapist too.😞
The first this season where morty just doesn’t sound the same at all
Am I the only one that finds Morty’s voice a lot more different compared to Ricks?
(A way Higher Pitch)?🤷♂️
You're right. I thought the same thing as well.
yeah, rick's is way less jarring
I think so too, his voice is the most different. Maybe thats why he hasn't been involved in the episodes so far?
@@nickwx9816 Maybe you’re right.I just hope they tone down the Whiny-ness to his voice
It's become bougas
i miss morty🥲
The problem wasnt Rick not answering, thats fair game, he is not obligated and he is not an Ahole for it
The problem was him just "breaking in to her house" demanding for her to fix something she partly caused, to be fair, but something that she also wanted to fix before, after having a talk with Rick, who refused
Tho Rick is in his right to refuse that talk, Fk her, but he cant just enter her ship and demand stuff either and thats the part Helen pointed out, and its also show that therapy is maybe working as Rick did brought Helen knowing he couldnt express what he was feeling about changing
@@hanmitch457 Yeah i didnt get that from Unity at the end
But i liked Ricks response, just leaving, not engaging or throwing in her face that she was acting pretty much with ego
Any way, i just wanted to say Eric is right
Its allllll fair if Rick doesnt answer her, he is not obligated, he is not in the wrong for it, or an Ahole for it
He is only at fault for invading her space and demanding her help
What about the 'ben 10' reactions
simpsons did some shit like this in the movie didnt it
Not really, the only similarity was the Dome trapping a city. In the simpsons movie Springfield got domed because the lake became toxic
It wasen't a good episode to chose to watch for dinner xD
The Dome reminded me of the Sipsons movie
Nah Eric is right
Now that they've brought Unity back... I kinda want them to bring them back at least one more time.
The original episode was such a gut punch... I'm glad they touched back on it.
They are horrible for each other and care about each other. Not to get sappy about rick and morty but I like their relationship.
But again, oh well, im still enjoying it
Hope they come up with some actual interesting sci fi premises in the next few episodes....
Again, love the episode but Morty's voice in particular is bugging me and I can't even really say why 🤔
balls dropped and is growing old
Rick apologizing about talking shit about something dumb like scientology was... stupid. And not a good episode, and still so little Morty.
FNAF movie
Yes offence these last 3 episodes felt like duds and found none funny
