Hearing someone passionately speak about IRIS, a largely niche musical project, and their own interpretations of the songs for 36 minutes made me feel seen and heard. Glad to have my hyperfixation validated.😌

I finally found a video of essay about IRIS! After summer of 2023, which was filled with many events in my personal life (surgery and many things). Since then I found out the IRIS Dawn of The Dimetrix and immediately fell in love with it. Huge Thank you for it!

I've been an avid fan of Irissince late 2018 and knew this would be the perfect subject for my college video essay project! :D

I almost got a 100%, there were just a few small issues, but I'm proud of it! 🤘💚
This has made me notice a lot of Will's songs are about empowerment and taking control as well as overcoming adversity and growing through those challenges.
Overall good video but I want to point out something in the song Goliath's throne that gave me a different interpretation then you.
Before the final lines, "you can't tame me" and "i am invincible" are the lines:
"It seems the beast has been tamed once again
For every sworn revenge comes consequence to every demon
For every child, for every mother and father
Our world is safe from wrath once again"
which makes the lines from the outro come off less Goliath shouting in victory and more so in denial of him being contained as punishment for wreaking havoc on the people of his home planet.
Which combined with the post chorus:
"Our plague of skull and bones never ends
There's a vicious smile behind every misfortune
The galaxy found peace of its own, manifested with prosperity
Seems you're the only ones left behind"
makes me feel like the song is also about the dangers of revenge and how it can hurt those around you and make you do things that will come back to bite you. And bite hard.
I don't mean to come off as too critical. Or that your essay was bad, I enjoyed it in all honesty.
I appreciate the kind words and the criticism. I agree with you, I wanted to change that whenever I was done but it was too late and I had already turned it in. There was also a part in going away where I repeated the same thing twice and it eats at me every time I watch the video, lol

im glad you talked about the story behind plague, i didnt find out until like a few months after and i got some insane whiplash. i wished the dagames community was a bit more accessible but maybe thats my fault for using discord exclusively for social media lol

Hold on, Plague was Will's suicide note?! Holy crap, that completely flipped my perspective on that song! I never knew that was how Will was feeling during that!
Yeah, it was really worrying when it first came out, a lot of people thought it was talking abt the pandemic at first, and then it was later revealed that Will tried to take his own life. A lot of people don't like the song because of that (such as my friend Gavin/eXyled) but I like it and it's meaning, and see it as him winning because he's still with us today and spread awareness about a lot of issues.
@@Creeperpg101 Wow... whenever I get a chance to see him at Momocon or in a future convention, I'm gonna tell him how much he means to not only to the IRIS community, not only to the DAGames community, but how much he means to us as a person. He deserves every amount of love he needs from us fans.

As of the time of me finding this video, which is today, lol🤣 it has officially been 1 month since its been out.
I would just like to say that I personally loved how in depth you went when talking about each song, lyric, album etc & I even learned some things that I didn't even know / look at in a certain perspective.
I know for this video that you only focused upon the albums & their lyrical meanings but I would like to mention that on my channel, I made a whole retrospective video talking solely about IRIS story at least up to the point of Hither & Yonder. I briefly hosted an IRIS Week where I reacted to all the story videos & elaborated on my thoughts that I couldn't in the retrospective. So feel free to check all that out, if you want too. :)
As for one last thing, I loved your ending statement/ sentiment for Will & IRIS, im glad you felt inspired just as much as so many others in this grand & wondrous community. Will has inspired me alot to create my own stories & show them to the world, granted that i've always been a storyteller long before I found IRIS & Will's content.

That's right, I did see your Iris Retrospective a while ago! I watched it while I was grinding in Minecraft, lol.
But also Will has inspired me to tell stories as well even more so than I wanted to. I've always wanted to be an author and have a whole book series I've been working on for years, lmao.
I'm glad the Iris community is so humble and welcoming to everyone involved in it. It truly is a wonderful community to be a part of and I'm glad that I found Iris when I did 🤘
