Great addition to HALion and a great sounding synth on its own. The FM programming is simply excellent and the patches are very playable. Definitely worth the upgrade to 7

In its standalone version there is no issue, but using it with VEP it is always claiming missing samples even if they are located where they should be, and over 42 instances of Halion in VEP, the Steinberg plug in starts to loose its saved configurations. Is it because we work on Apple M2 machines?
Although there are so many FM simulators out there, I consider FM Lab as a welcome feature for Halion 7. As a SY99 owner I know that SY has a "free algorithm edit" feature where the user can create their own algorithms with external MIDI software. I hope that soon in future Halion update they will add the exchange of user defined algorithms between Halion and SY-99.
One of the best FM virtual instruments. Finally. Now just add some fancy formant filters or a formant synthesis mode to combine with, and we can say goodbye to 3 thousand dollar Yamaha FS1R forever!
There’s no bulk import. You can only view and import single patches at a time from a sysex folder. I see that the ROM carts 1-2 and VRC carts 1-6 are in the Layers.

FM Lab was one of the reasons I upgraded to Halion 7.
How is it possible that Cubase 12 does not see it.
Take some of that Native Instruments for not updating FM8 and its UI from the 80s.
Ha! 😂 Yeah, Native doesn’t update stuff very much. Halion’s engine sounds better to me than the Kontakt stuff.

Yes. DX 7, DX 7II, DX 21, DX 27/100, TX 81Z and Montage.
