Totally! He looked so distressed when saying those words. I think that Mads did an amazing job showing how Grindelwald was affected by that whole situation. He didn’t want to give up on what he once had with Dumbledore

You made me on tears with that comment!! :( I was really sad about this scene too because Knowing Rowling's comments, Albus decided to spend the rest of his life in celibacy... Their love story is so compelling but also filled with such heartbreak and tragedy; the true tragedy is that in the end, after everything, Albus and Gellert still love each other all the same and they always will, but they will end up battling each other despite how strong their love for each remains for all time. 💔😢

@@SH-zh8eh we don’t technically know, but my personal headcanon is no. That like similarly to Albus, he never got with anyone else because nobody else could be what Albus was to him.
Oh Mads... damn as much as i love johnny... Mads is the picture i had in my head when i was imagining what gellert grindelwald would be like. And mads has that uncanny ability to make you love and sympathize with a known villain (hannibal) the heartbreak in his eyes. Heavens i cants

i sent an edit to my friend where grindelwald said the line ‘who will love u now dumbledore?’ and she was disgusted that i would ship them after he said that to him. in my opinion, grindelwald said that to try to give dumbledore a reason to stay, to join him and complete their childhood fantasies which he has so longed dumbledore to be a part of. to me this was an act of two men realising that they can never be together and only one of them trying to get the other to cling on. their whole story is heartbreaking and ive never liked harry potter bc to me it is sloppy but this series is amazing.

As much as I love JD, Mads is the perfect Grindelwald
JD's version is more erratic and unpredictable, but Mads' version is giving cold and calculated like him as Hannibal.
Mads' will always be one of my favorite actors, but seriously though the HP franchise scored with so many big names.
I don't like Dumbledore for what he did to Harry & co.(or for what he didn't do that is), but Grindelore will always have a spot in the broken bits of my heart.

Love this edit so much, perfect song to use! And I love that you also show that it wasn't only the blood oath keeping them from fighting each other, when it came down to it neither of them were ready to actually strike the final blow even with the blood troth broken. Dumbledore's "I can't" truly has a double meaning, it's not just that he literally can't. 🥺
Amazing edit, great quality and would probably deserve more views! Their romance is so tragic but Jude and Mads portray Dumbledore and Grindelwald really good and the film is so well made. Great to see more of Dumbledore's backstory, although I didn't agree with the Qilin bowing to Dumbledore because he agrees himself that for example Newt is a way better person than he is and would have liked to see him or Jacob be chosen. But still very well written and this edit marks out so many great moments in the film and their relationship, fantastic edit!
Thank you so much! 🥺 Regarding the Qilin bowing to Dumbledore only, I understand why so many people expected him to bow to Newt as well (he definitely has a "pure heart") but since the Qilin was looking for a leader, I actually think that this scene made sense. Newt didn’t want to lead the whole wizarding world meanwhile deep inside, Dumbledore probably wished he could accept the offer. I also believe that making the Qilin bow to him was a way to highlight what Newt said about having a "pure heart": the most important thing is to TRY to do what’s best, and Dumbledore tried pretty much his whole life ("do what’s right, not what’s easy"). Of course that’s just my interpretation and I could be wrong but what’s sure is that Newt definitely has one of the purest souls and the Qilin could probably sense that!

I will say I’m not too mad about Depp getting fired because that’s what happens when you have a horrible toxic relationship with someone whom doesn’t deserve him nor the time he wasted on that person, but I absolutely loved the replacement they made it has to be the best person they could have ever chosen Mads was absolutely perfect no one can tell me different ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

@@NIkkosKarabis If I’m being completely honest I never thought that Johnny was the best casting for Grindelwald, not because he isn’t good at his job (he definitely is an accomplished actor) but just because he had a way of interpreting the character that wasn’t exactly what I personally had in mind. I feel like Mads’ interpretation brought more nuance to Grindelwald and focused more on his "manipulative and skilled politician” persona, if I can put it that way? To me he appeared to be more composed, less "campy". And the chemistry Mads’ Grindelwald has with Jude Law’s Dumbledore is also quite amazing! But frankly I think that it’s just a matter of personal preference. I understand why some people liked Johnny’s interpretation better but to me, Mads makes the perfect Grindelwald. He clearly understood the assignment!

@@dyrise Well i see that quite differently. I think Mads was not as good at the manipulating part. He was more frightening, being around him caused a certain fear indeed, and at the same time he was really violent, he didn't hesitate to kill Credence. But he didn't handle the manipulating very well in my opinion. He didn't seem connected with the crowd, like he didn't care -although he was carried by the mob later, but meh....
I think Johnny killed (in a good way) the role! As you said, it's matter of personal preference. From the first time i saw Johnny's Grindelwald on the big screen, i loved it! Since then, when i hear the word Grindelwald, i mentally picture Johnny's interpretation. He was connected with his acolytes, and cared about his followers. He was an excellent orator, that promoted a healthy, innocent picture of him and his plans, misleading and fantasizing everyone, like a true dictator!
In my opinion that was an element that wasn't quite there with Mads. But in the upcoming -maybe not- movie, he might go number on my list!
(By the way i got so confused after watching your video on who is the best... My opinion changes every here and there...😂)

@@zharapatterson No need to be rude! Being a fan of an actor, is everyone's right! Being sad that an actor was unfairly asked to resign, is also something reasonable. As I mentioned above I love them both. And if your "problem" is the fortune Johnny has, then sorry Mads isn't living on the streets either. Mads did a fantastic job as Grindelwald, and only the hard core Johnny fans, criticize him negatively. Everyone else does not. So maybe you have to be more logical, next time you write a comment!
