Great video! Absolutely love my XM4s, and here are my EQ settings in case anyone finds it helpful. Personally for me they are perfect for maximum clarity, and imo they perform very well for a wide variety of genres: I took the “Bright” preset, and then tweaked it a little bit. I changed the 16 kHz bar to 10 (max), and increased my clear bass to 2. This brings way more clarity and is imo a great setting that works for many different genres (EDM, pop, rap, rock, metal, classical etc.). This is great for me personally, because I listen to tons of different genres (as listed above), and I don’t want to change my settings every time I switch from genre lol

I am nearly the same as you except I switched the 1k from 5 to 0. It sounded a bit weird having this raised. Now they sound awesome, really clear treble with punchy bass but no overblown mids. A good tip is to use Custom 1 as your go to and use Custom 2 for experimenting, do one change at a time, then easily switch between them to compare. So I'm 0 - 0 - 7 - 7 - 9 with bass at +1

Have these headphones and am a premium subscriber to Deezer for years but they only have select songs you can play with 360 audio, didn't realize you could with Deezer as that service provider isn't listed when you buy these. My favorite custom equalizer setting is the regular vocal boost but 6k at 0db with bass at +10, makes everything clearer, pop a bit more with treble and has deeper bass as well as more room to play for higher volume control. I worked on my equalizer settings for hours as songwriting is my profession. Thank you again!
If Speak-To-Chat is active and you want to force resuming to the music simply double tap on the touch sensor. I also noticed that pairing to other devices (wether you use multi point pairing or not) is only possible when it is activated. I wish they could realize that we can freely choose which functions are activated by single, double, triple or long pressing the custom button. That would be the best! Maybe they could add Speak-To-Chat to the WF-1000XM3?
I’ve found myself purchasing XM4 and feel the XM3 ’s deserve ( Legend status ) ie a day each year to celebrate said headphones. Gone but should never be forgotten

I was going to upgrade from my xm3's but one of my favorite features has been removed (Surround (VPT)) if they add this back I will surely upgrade but removing that feature was a deal breaker for me even though they added all of the upgrades I wanted but that great surround sound overrides those well needed upgrades for me.

Most of the time, I keep the Adaptive Noise Canceling off. However, when I turn Adaptive Noise Canceling on, I usually leave the "Automatic Switching Based on Action" off and instead use the "Automatic Switching Based on Location"

I like the undocumented nice feature - put three fingers together on right ear cup for about 2-3 seconds and that (de)activate Free-to-chat feature. Even if headphones are connected to computer (w/o the Sony Headphone app)
for the 'Time until mode ends' if you double tap the right ear the music starts to play right away, so you dont have to wait 15 seconds once you stop speaking

1. metod 1 - when BT is on and XM4 is visible by phone, you can parring it too to computer - but... it wont be rocognised as audio device! 2. metod 2 - turn off XM4, then long press power and 5-6 sec and then try to pair to laptop - then all is working properly, it will be visible as audio device and also as headphone with mic.

I went for the Harman curve eq and they sound so much better and not as bright and front feeling as other popular equalizer settings. Try it and compare! 0, 4, 6, 0, 0 clear bass - 1/0

I don't really like the auto detect for ANC or Ambient Sound so when I'm out I turn it off. The app has so many features it's great. Thank you for your review. I had the WH-1000XM4s for a few days. I played and adjusted the EQ settings but they were never loud enough. My AirPods Pro were louder and better sounding. My $50 In Ear Monitors- VXS were louder and clearer than the XM4s. The XM4s did have a nice sound to them but were lack luster. My AirPods Max were definitely louder and clearer sounding and had better instrument separation. After careful consideration I returned the XM4s for a full refund.

Aaron is Loud and Wireless I looked into these codec details and you just opened a brand new world of information :). Would love a video about this. If I understood right Android allows LDAC and iPhones AAC. On Android enabling multipoint it will fallback to SBC. On iPhone it will still using AAC right? And technically LDAC ir better than AAC. Hey, thanks for the video. I like XM4 a lot. However, there is one shortcoming that I would like to share with you. I have been using Sony XM4 for a few months and I noticed that I start having headaches after having them on for about 30 minutes. I think it may be related to the air pressure. Does anyone have a similar experience? Have you found a way to get rid of it? 😩
I know these are popular, but I compared them to my Momentum 3 Wireless and the sound detail difference is astounding. The instrument separation and clarity of the Sennheisers is objectively on another level. Isn’t the point of headphones audio quality?

Thank you, I bought a set, I wouldn't call them noise cancelling though; they don't do much at all to remove noise despite much time calibrating.
I held off getting the Sony's for years to due to the lack of multipoint pairing.
When they finally have it, the function disables LDAC. Dammit!
Back in time when they were designing LDAC they didn't thought of multipairing. Now they have a problem 😂
Wait so what does disabling Ldac do? Does it lower sound quality when multipaired?
@@CoasterCoat LDAC is technically the superior Bluetooth codec and multi-pairing disables it. But I don't know if you can hear the difference.
Aaron mentioned that this issue is only for Android. So i guess Iphone should be fine.

Thank you for your review. I had the WH-1000XM4s for a few days. I played and adjusted the EQ settings but they were never loud enough. My AirPods Pro were louder and better sounding. My $50 In Ear Monitors- VXS were louder and clearer than the XM4s. The XM4s did have a nice sound to them but were lack luster. My AirPods Max were definitely louder and clearer sounding and had better instrument separation. After careful consideration I returned the XM4s for a full refund.
same airpods are louder by a lot. but I kept xm4 cause they were probably healthier from my ears
@@F27_2 That’s interesting Jinx. The XM4s did sound nice but had low volume and I really get into music. Music is not something I hear in the background. I was disappointed by all the hype around them. Thanks for your reply.
Apple is just over rated and over priced i mean the air pods max are about $550 right which is definitely over priced when bose and sony can can match apple products for a cheaper price
Did you try swiping up on the right side ear cup? That raises the headphone's own volume (swiping down lowers it).

Aaron is Loud and Wireless I looked into these codec details and you just opened a brand new world of information :). Would love a video about this. If I understood right Android allows LDAC and iPhones AAC. On Android enabling multipoint it will fallback to SBC. On iPhone it will still using AAC right? And technically LDAC ir better than AAC. Is there any point using hi-fi source with multipoint enabled? Thank you man.

Hey, thanks for the video. I like XM4 a lot. However, there is one shortcoming that I would like to share with you. I have been using Sony XM4 for a few months and I noticed that I start having headaches after having them on for about 30 minutes. I think it may be related to the air pressure. Does anyone have a similar experience? Have you found a way to get rid of it? 😩
I think there is a setting for that in the app. I wear mine for hours and don't have that problem.
That happens to me I think it is the sound deafening
I know these are popular, but I compared them to my Momentum 3 Wireless and the sound detail difference is astounding. The instrument separation and clarity of the Sennheisers is objectively on another level. Isn’t the point of headphones audio quality?
