FYI, Industry Nine made aluminum spokes for BMX racing around 10 years ago, but they cost $7.00 each and were only compatible with I9 hubs. I've got one of their complete 20" BMX wheelsets, and MSRP was $980.00 USD new!
I actually witnessed the road rage thing unfold as i was there. I was walking past when phu was learning that dude something fierce. I mean he was getting it, phu was getting ready to peg grind the dudes face. The only thing that saved the guy was that some kid rode by on a gt pro performer and phu stopped beating the guy to do a quick bike check which gave the guy time to regain consciousness and get away.
Yup,, I got an Aluminum SE Ripper XL and an Aluminum Haro Annex Pro XL. My weight is 195lbs on a good day and thrash on those bikes. I haven't broken a frame yet. Maybe I need to thrash harder, lol.
well yeah. specific weight of titanium is pretty much in between aluminum and steel. but each metal (alloy, usually neither iron, aluminium nor titanium come pure) has its specific properties.
Hey Alfredo I have a question. I recently started BMX for the first time at the age of 28. I bought my first bike and I’m kinda worried I made a huge mistake and that it’s to small. I’m 6”3 and got a 21” TopTube, 9”3 bars and the stem has a fair bit of a rise and I have 20” wheels. Is this bike to small for me? I live in the Netherlands and don’t really know any riders or shops here. So you are like one of the few I can ask for some advice.
I'm glad my "fighting days" are behind me. I once had to fight a guy who had cut someone's head off over a six-pack of beer. I'm soooo glad those days are behind me. I much prefer being a "Ferdinand", laying in the grass all day.😂
You need to talk about the lightest strongest bike parts and frame and bars and forks ever designed in the BMX history you need to make the lightest strongest bike in history and you need to put it to a weight and strength test over a certain period of time through Street Park & dirt
I bought a titainiam eastern frame a few years ago the one with the slots in the seatube i gotta admit it was lighter over a cromoly one but i bent it at the headtube (they all bent there )there wasnt much in the weight dept only a few grams id say but it polished up well think iv got some ti bolts in my stem i bought them from tlc bikes in the uk they just look nicer for longer theres not much in it .
I think you should have added the way titanium and steel will fail. Titanium will break catastrophically, meaning it will snap like a twig when it fails. Steel will bend and has some forgiveness.
In the 90's... Beryllium bicycle frame is my holy grail of wishlist... maybe because of the cost i dont see any bmx or any bicycle generally using that kind of metal anymore... what is master Phu's view on beryllium made frame when comparing it with Alluminium & Titanium aside from the cost?
Titanium parts break easier than chromoly, I wouldn't use it for anything on a BMX other than maybe the seat clamp bolt. For tubular parts, axles, nuts, and bolts, chromoly rules. For everything else, aluminum is going to be as light or lighter than titanium. Titanium might be more durable than aluminum, but its not as durable as chromoly, and its more expensive than either, so who gives a shit. I reckon the seat clamp bolt will be fine though, my seatpost is literally made of plastic, so in the worst case scenario, its the seatpost that will probably break before any bolt that's holding it on. Generally, if you want to ride better, you're better off just eating more and lifting weights than buying expenisve titanium parts. It's not just about how light your bike is, you want to be confident that its strong when you're trying to ride hard. How stiff/springy metal is plays a role too, and I think if there was a big advantage to titanium parts, we'd see them being used on a lot more professional rider's bikes, but that isn't happening, in any type of cycling. Even at the top levels of competition, in any discipline, the best riders in the world seem to do just fine without a lot of titanium parts on their bike. All of that being said, I'd give a nut for one of those titanium Profile sprockets, it looks like it belongs on a dentist's bike.
phu is off his rocker on this one....freestyle and aluminum don't go well together so that really shouldn't even be part of the conversation...can't freestyle when the equipment is broken..alum spindle or handlebars would be super scary the real comparison should strictly be ti vs steel/cromo
Nope steel at the same gauge is stronger than titanium. One very good example is if you use titanium hardware you have to be careful how you torque them. It’s all about weight to strength ratio. Titanium wins that battle. High quality steel is still the strongest material on earth.
I remember a story when i was there a couple days ago and I think it may be the same story but he pulled out a machete on a guy that tried to rob the shop I think
Titanium is 40%lighter then steel same strength and aluminum is about a 3rd lighter than Titanium weight wise but not as strong magnesium is even lighter but again not as strong. Bruh I'm on a mission to beat bk and Ricky veronick for lightest bike. All cause of the concept of bruh aluminum is lighter. Carbon rims should help keep it stupid durable. Eclat to the rescue. Ti grim reaper Ti eastern bars Ti laird forks Race stem Ti cranks Carbon rims Coaster hub. Gyro and pegs. 2.3 tire up front. Gonna be sub 15 pounds.
Yo phu you're the man! Shout out to taking care of your family and your son taking after you. Shows alot. much love and respect!!

Great info. I’m wanting to do Ti spokes on my son’s Elf race bike, but mainly for corrosion prevention as we live near the ocean. Steel spoke rust.

Don’t phuck with Phu!!! Glad to see everything turned out gravy. Also, good to know about the spokes and about titanium. Liked the video!
"......didnt know there was a man in the car" " .....where were you??? " hahaha that was funny

Seems legit. Maybe should've gone with the 22"
Phu is the man 👊🏻
Really is
Phu I need an ultra light titanium bike. Simply for strength. A bike for life.

I'm glad my "fighting days" are behind me. I once had to fight a guy who had cut someone's head off over a six-pack of beer. I'm soooo glad those days are behind me. I much prefer being a "Ferdinand", laying in the grass all day.😂

Max comes in to be smart "you ruined our time MAX!" lmao😂
The names Freddy. Thank you for making this video to help others like me. If anyone wants custom wheels made in under 15 minutes this is your man.
You need to talk about the lightest strongest bike parts and frame and bars and forks ever designed in the BMX history you need to make the lightest strongest bike in history and you need to put it to a weight and strength test over a certain period of time through Street Park & dirt
We dig this!
Phu is one bad mu-phu!
Titanium pegs, i remember the Dk Firestarter pegs they would spark like crazy
Fuuuuuck ti pegs lol. Lighter steel pegs existed on the day.
a saying i heard a long time ago as far as parts go ... strong, light, or cheap ... pick 2
WE TRYNA BUILD A STRONG FREESTYLE BIKE PHU, IM HEAVY AF
Bottom line is.. if the part is already aluminum then you don't want ti but if it's steel you could save some weight by switching to ti
and with decent tires you can save 200g. crank axle, bolts and spokes are good to be switched to Ti.
not really, an aluminum peg for grinding wont last nearly as long as a Ti one.
Does a 19mm bottom bracket fit a 19 mm spindle or no
Phus that Asian bad boy 😂😂just always wearing leather incase a fight
Wearing leather what? Jacket?
#VuTangCrew
Phu forgot about Alumi-nesium ! That’s the strongest and lightest metal !!!😂
If you can afford Titanium.....its worth it... if you cant.... ride what you got.
Yo what website or store can i get a bike for 250 with tax and shipping exc?
I bought a titainiam eastern frame a few years ago the one with the slots in the seatube i gotta admit it was lighter over a cromoly one but i bent it at the headtube (they all bent there )there wasnt much in the weight dept only a few grams id say but it polished up well think iv got some ti bolts in my stem i bought them from tlc bikes in the uk they just look nicer for longer theres not much in it .

Right on phu handled yo shit ....
Yay finally can relax and watch some Alfredo mancuso 🤙
In spokes why it have so many length sizes. 180mm 185mm 190mm whats the difference? I dont get it @alf 😁
Different hub sizes. Different spoke layouts.
I knew Phu was a gangster ass Viet!!!

what about Lithium? :)
Beryllium isn’t used much anymore because it’s pretty hazardous to be around. Dust/particles and corrosion from beryllium are very carcinogenic.
Phu got the triple beam
😂😂
a bike frame made of plastic is going to be lighter BUT 😵😵😵
aayyyy alf you should do a video like that where you change parts on ur bike to show which is heavy and not
What the phu should be the name for sure
Titanium doesn't stretch it fractures cause it's so hard
We love Phu too !
FREE PHU You the man my dude im out of jail for about 9days confined 😎👍like an hotel but fkn cheap staff and foods 👌😂
Titanium is much harder to weld.
Laird Ti frame is $2000
I had a GT and I put 180mm Hutch Areo speed cranks... Strong
But at the end of the day they want a light freestyle bike that will last. And a Ti bike is lighter than the chromo
They tried to get phu! 🤦♀️ good thing he’s about his shit!

Titaniums has the durability and flex of steel but the weight of aluminum

Here
another small weight savings ... ceramic bearings
Titanium dissipates heat faster than steel too.
They make a lot of parts that are made of magnatanium which is strong and light weight
WHY NO ONLINE SHOP?
Go for laird frame or no wear frame.
I'm paranoid.. phu is not wearing jorts.
The high price seperates the pros from the slackers.
