Truly stunning. If you go far enough back in history to post Roman ('Arthurian') times there was a warlord who was a big cheese in 'The Old North' (Yr Hen Ogledd in Welsh records) - the area around Edinburgh. His name was Cunedda and his family were invited down to North Wales to take the kingship of Gwynedd. And who were tasked with removing the Irish tribes who were living there at the time. I recently found out that the modern spelling of this name is KENNEDY. So it seems that not only did his family spawn almost the entire lineage of all the Welsh principalities up until Wales's conquest by the English in the 13th Century, but it went on to branch out into southern Scotland, with these two castles, and indeed Castle Kennedy (Castle and village) to the south of South Ayrshire in Galloway. Only for the emigree family to be elevated to the highest position, not just of Britain, but arguably the world, as the president of the USA! It's great you're documenting these places before they deteriorate further.
