I have said it before and I will say it again, the final iteration of the Hero pass was better than what we have now. All they had to do was put some of the rewards we get from TH into the pass. Like death touched darts, Soul reaper points, Slayer VIP coupon, etc. They just brought it out in SUCH a horrendous way that no one wanted to give it a chance no matter what changes they did to it because they were so turned off. It's really unfortunate.
I'd be happy with them just removing the MTX side of treasure hunter and adjusting it to be more inline with gameplay i.e. remove ability to buy keys and add more methods to earn keys. I maxed in OSRS and just got 99s in RS. The RS experience felt much more pleasant for me with the random exp boosts here and there. I enjoy PVM and doing clues~ Sitting at a bank skilling is boring AF to me, so I am happy that there is a way to speed it up.
You never had to do a Dungeon w/o TH. The Hole and Elite Dungeons exist. I kind of feel that if you're old enough to spend a bunch of money on something, you should try to know what you're getting into. Love Archeology. Wasn't just get xp, number go up, and stay at a few places.
Stars, lamps, and gp stacks are the biggest issue with TH. Cosmetics are fine to keep in there, that gives ppl an incentive to buy keys on a particular day. Proteans and dummies are ok too bc at least we’re still playing the game to use those. Im curious to see what jagex does with mtx
@@lolbajsetmy opinion is more revolving around the fact that it just contributes to directly skipping game content. GP stacks could be replaced by mimic kill tokens. That way players are guided to actually playing the game.
@@alexlove9975 it doesnt matter. skipping game content is up to individual. not everyone have so much time to play this game. so if they want to skip and pay to still enjoy the game. then its fine as a whole.
Keep cosmetics but that's it. It's not a coincidence that skills with proteans (and of course lamps/stars)or are not used to generate large quantities of bossing consumables have not kept up with inflation in terms of profitability. Buying skills doesn't just hurt one persons experience or dimish everyones accomplishments; it actively leaves people who *can't* do high-end bossing or newer players with little to nothing to do that is fun or profitable. And that's just terrible game design. BUT I honestly think that the damage is done at this point, removing Treasure Hunter isn't going to unfuck the mess that the economy has become. There's just too many 200m XPs people got for free floating around.
With everyone switching to ironscape and gim coming out soon, i could see why jagex is on high alert and focusing on mtx removal and replacing with something else like pricier membership or removal of bonds etc. Their sales and marketing division probably hates ironscapers because most of them have mains who bond their iron mems. Very few whales actually run rs3. If not for them and the regular players who pay real money for membership, rs3 may file bankruptcy wiping osrs along with it. I'd suggest they separate os and rs3 memberships and increase os mem price to double or something.
How does bonds not count as real membership? Bonds make jagex alot of money. Its just transferring membership from 1 person to another with gold instead of $, Someone already paid the irl membership price.
It implies that the content is otherwise unfun to engage with and the loot boxes are a bandaid fix. It's a LOT less bad in PVE games where no one else's experience is getting ruined by you skipping content, but if the only way that most players are training dungeoneering is by lamping it, it seems like dungeoneering needs a rework and it's just not going to get reworked because microtransactions.
@@raphtheboygenius TH has nothing to do with dung getting reworked or not. jagex is incompetent and/or has no resources to rework an entire skill. they can barely introduce new content as it is, what makes you think they'd have the capacity to rework an entire skill?
@@raphtheboygenius The best way to fix dungeoneering is to make it a skill that's used in, and leveled by doing content in dungeons and remote areas. Killing blue dragons in Tav dungeon? Tokens + XP. Doing the Underground pass quest? Tokens and XP. Doing Gowards 1, 2 or 3? Xp and tokens. It should be what Slayer is but for (you guessed it) dungeons.
I'd love to know how many accounts actually had thousands of dollars solely spent on keys for maxing an account/xp in general. I don't think it's as high as people like to make it. I get both sides of the argument, but end of the day most of us are older and either have time, money, neither or both! I think a lot of the issues are personal and people letting how others play games affect them. I'm proud of everything I've done, but couldn't really care about a guy who lamped 200m all because he didn't get the same experience i had. The ups, downs, the feeling of accomplishment. No one can take that away from me, I know I did it. Obviously when high scores and records, or prestige comes into play, it's unfair, but it is what it is. If mtx keeps membership down that I'm happy. I can x out, destroy, and not interact with any mtx if I choose. It is not forced on anyone.
To add on, I LOVE cosmetics, the fashionscape aspect of rs3 is a game of its own. Would I support removing bxp/stars/lamps? 100000%. But I agree Raph, I really enjoyed the latter stage of hero pass, would be interested if they bring it back.
so true, im tired of people thinking its okay to play an mmo if you have 50 minutes to play. You have so many other games and its ruining the game for everyone else. thats just nature of mmos, and trying to change it is doing more damage than good. at the end of the day these players need to understand mmos are supposed to be about time investment and long term. its dumb to ruin the game for 50 minute a day andys. also lets be honest, most of these people even if they got to endgame are barely gonna be able to do it if theyre so adapted to skipping the game with mtx
Mtx does keep a large player base interested. People get older, and with it comes irl commitments, so would that mean that people would effectively have to retire from no longer being able to play enough to keep up? I myself have never brought th keys, but I can understand why people would for the lamps and stars etc. I also do agree with the ridiculousness of lamping skills like dung Its a fine balance that's proving difficult to find

@raphtheboygenius dungeoneering was only good at release. They've given some life to daemonheim recently but. The skill should be a d and d and anyone will agree with that so that kinda makes your point moot.
I don't think we're talking about the same thing. It's certainly possible that if Dungeoneering were just a different skill, then there wouldn't be any issues with it. But it's not a different skill. Not only that, but if people have the option to progress in Dungeoneering without ever having to engage with the skill, then Jagex has no reason to fix it. If your argument is that if Dungeoneering were different it would be better, that's a fine argument to make, but that's my point. They have no reason to change Dungeoneering because people are largely okay with just lamping it.
