i came to this tonight after watching a bunch of Radiohead live songs (Hail to the Thief is their best album, imo). So i'd say the production values aren't quite as good here. But i love it just as much...
They have engineered and produced all their own records. While I sympathize with your desire for more traditional production values, the fact that they kept it in house, from writing the material to recording it to releasing it, means they only answer to themselves, and aren’t compromising their art. I contend that it’s only because of that conscience decision to sink or swim on their own, but have full artistic control is likely the only reason we are lucky enough to have gotten these truly unique and vital records. You add another person to this stew, and it wouldn’t be the same. It is the unfiltered, unaffected rawness that I would wager most of their fans get hooked on. You add into the formula someone who either is invested in making money off them, or a producer hired by someone trying to make money off them, and all of sudden concessions are made to what is arguably brilliant art already and you inch towards making the “product” more digestible and you lose that singular vision and the extraordinary gets dragged down in the realm of the ordinary. And then maybe you can play it for your mom and she’ll understand it more, but the reason many love this band is because they are distinctly NOT that.
glad they finished with my favourite song 32:00 ❤❤❤
That performance of Chameleon Paint was hilarious
Lauren is constantly astonishing

What is the first song?
Chameleon Paint and it's a masterpiece
I'm annoyed by how much better this band sounds live than they do on records, they need a better producer
They have the sound to be on a huge stage. Yeah, they deserve to meet their Don Gallucci (producer of Fun House by The Stooges)
