Thank you so much for this video. I need to make my cat flap bigger to accommodate a pet door. It might be easier to take the panel out than try and cut it whilst it's still in the door. Thank you again for the video.
Very useful video. I have a cat flap I need to get rid of and the panel i need to remove is only a short panel just slightly bigger than the cat flap. Do you just get these new panels from B&Q or similar? Many thanks.
Great video, thanks. Have an old UPVS door where the bottom panel has a cat flap want to replace this but the panel doesn’t have beading only what looks like a rubber seal - How do I replace the bottom panel? Please advise.
You make removing the beading look so easy! I've tried a number of tools and I can't seem to get mine out. Is there a possibility I cannot do this on my door or is it possible on all uPVC doors?
Hi Mega, Thanks for watching and for dropping a question. Its not easy and takes a bit of welly to get them off, I actually had to get a new sharp tool to get these ones off. If you have the right tool and a rubber mallet to give it a bash you should eventually get there. Good luck.
Dan. You might well have just saved me upwards of £1200 (that I am not sure I really now need to spend!) with this video. We bought a home recently that had a cat flap. And it is in such a poor condition and so flimsy (old Staywell 17) that I could literally see my money spent on heating the home floating out the gaping hole. Any sort of wind and the seals on the flap were so perished the cat flap would, erm, flap! And a flimsy bit of perspex isn't going to keep any warmth in or any draft out. Now for less than £100 I am more that confident I can replace the entire panel rather than go for the quotes to replace the entire door - problem of ugly draughty cat flap solved! Cannot thank you enough.
Is it possible to replace the panel with timber such as marine ply?. Also seems to me if all that's holding the panel in place is the beading. A burglar could easily kick it in, please excuse my ignorance. Good job by the way.
Hey Tough 2 lie, Great to hear from you, thanks for your message and for watching my video. You could replace with marine ply if you wanted but this piece only cost me £30 so it was cheap, quick and easy. The panel is pretty solid so it would be pretty hard to put a boot through, no different to someone putting a brick through a window I guess. I hope this helps, thanks again for taking the time to drop a comment.
Hi Kathryn, Thanks for watching and for your question. Yes you can change a window for a panel in the same way I have done a straight panel swap in this video. I hope this helps Thanks again for watching.
Hi Francesca, If the fancy glass is just a standard glass panel and your replacing it with something the same size and depth then the process will be the same as in this video. I hope this helps Good luck
Just had my front door fitted and it has a side panel, the beading is on the outside, I know it should be on the inside. Will it cause me problems in the future or shall I mention it now

Hi Adrian,
A window and door specialist will have them in stock.
Thanks for watching and for your question I hope you get your door sorted.
Thanks for that! Now I don't need to pay someone to pop the previous panel back in!

@@new2property thanks, I was quoted 120 euros for panel so that's I think I'll go with marine ply.
@@tough2lie382 wow that`s crazy. I would be looking for alternatives if I had to pay that.
Can I change the window in a upvc back door to a upvc panel instead? I would like to remove just the bottom window and create a bit more privacy.

Do you know if it’s possible to remove a fancy glass panel from a Upvc and replace it
with a different shape plain glass panel?

All good unless it’s old UPVC and the bead snaps 😉 Nice simple video though 👍🏼👍🏼

Any advice appritated
If the beading is on the outside it’s very easy for someone to get into your property, you’ll want to mention it asap

Hi Jane,

My door opens outward and the beading is on the outside??............now worried.
I suggest getting a locksmith around, they can seal the beading so it’s safer.
@@new2property How is that done please?
