Not a beautiful city unfortunately anymore. Close by is Zwickau, which is beautiful. Leipzig is not to far and is a very beautiful city. But Chemnitz itself is just lots of communist buildings.
Not true! Just out of the tiny center, there are many, many old buildings from around 1900, because it was one of the richest cities in europe, during that time. Sonnenberg has one of the biggest areas of Gründerzeit buildings. And the best part: It is not overcrouded - because of all the clichés :)
@SamSurrealism Every german city has lots of buildings from the 19th century, its nothing special. Cities like Erfurt, that are not far of Chemnitz are way better, thats what I was saying with the comment.
