When my friends' house burned down in the 2020 fires, we tried so hard to find things of value in the debris. But it was just complete destruction. Just pieces of meaningful belongings. Watching people looking through the ashes of their home is devastating.

I live in Sonoma county and I lived through the 2017 tubbs fire here - we were evacuated and have been a couple times afterwards. Seeing the places that you used to play and eat, burned to the ground is devastating to an entire community. Everyone you know is trying to mend or repair, mentally, financially, and physically drained. I go to LA a few times a year to visit family and it’s my other home. Sonoma repaired slowly, but surely, and there was a lot of BS that came in the form of lack of Insurance companies wanting to pay for what they were supposed to cover. I hope that they get what they need, to repair and get back stronger than before. My heart goes out to these people and I know what it’s like to be watching videos of your home on the news, and watching it become some sort of spectacle for others , while you try to control something that you have no control over. It’s devastating. I hope that you all recover, and don’t have any BS get in your way. You will build back better. You will be stronger. You will recover. And the community will become closer together because of it. My family is ok, and that’s the most important part for any of us - you survived a natural disaster, and now you can do anything. Stay strong. Keep going. And keep your head up. It’s so hard, and it will become painful enough to stop, but don’t. I will NEVER take having a home for granted ( I never have) but after Helene, Maui and these fires I’d be grateful for a extended stay hotel room. The fire fighters did what they could but it just wasn’t enough… my entire neighborhood is gone now. Cherish your homes ladies and gentlemen… you never know when it might be gone

I live a few miles from all of this, and surprisingly, what is being reported IS ACCURATE. and the insurance problems will be worse, as the insurance companies will deny, defer and then maybe pay. many fire policies in the palisades were canceled about 4 months ago. Every one of them burnt "structures" has water running to it, so if no one is turning meters off they are definitely losing water pressure. Understand that drinking water and fire fighting water come from the same place. If you are pumping it out of the tanks faster, then the pumps can fill the tanks. it's obvious they are gonna have issues, unfortunately..
Think of how many water resources are just flowing, due to the fire. Busted water heaters, piping in houses and buildings, city main lines that have burst. There are so many reasons that the pressure can be affected. In every video that is out there, you see water on the ground, just flowing. Broken lines everywhere. I am married to plumber, and I ask him the same question. This was his response. Kinda makes sense now. You can't have every source of water at once pulling on the pressure and not have it affect another area. California is a state of limited water as it is. This is very unfortunate. 300k+ homes are without power, everything in my fridge went bad, no stores open, kids hungry and cold, work closed, everything is more difficult in these situations when you’re broke. I live in Sonoma county and I lived through the 2017 tubbs fire here - we were evacuated and have been a couple times afterwards. Seeing the places that you used to play and eat, burned to the ground is devastating to an entire community. Everyone you know is trying to mend or repair, mentally, financially, and physically drained. I go to LA a few times a year to visit family and it’s my other home. Sonoma repaired slowly, but surely, and there was a lot of BS that came in the form of lack of Insurance companies wanting to pay for what they were supposed to cover. I hope that they get what they need, to repair and get back stronger than before. My heart goes out to these people and I know what it’s like to be watching videos of your home on the news, and watching it become some sort of spectacle for others , while you try to control something that you have no control over. It’s devastating. I hope that you all recover, and don’t have any BS get in your way. You will build back better. You will be stronger. You will recover. And the community will become closer together because of it. My family is ok, and that’s the most important part for any of us - you survived a natural disaster, and now you can do anything. Stay strong. Keep going. And keep your head up. It’s so hard, and it will become painful enough to stop, but don’t. Keep getting through the hard struts and watch the community thrive in due time, with all of the things coming back to life even stronger. Stay strong LA, and the Northbay loves you. My family’s permanent residence was destroyed in the Eaton Canyon fire while I was away for college… the destruction in the Palisades is just as bad and it feels like a hole has been punched through my chest. The fire fighters did what they could but it just wasn’t enough… my entire neighborhood is gone now. Cherish your homes ladies and gentlemen… you never know when it might be gone

I live a few miles from all of this, and surprisingly, what is being reported IS ACCURATE. and the insurance problems will be worse, as the insurance companies will deny, defer and then maybe pay. many fire policies in the palisades were canceled about 4 months ago. God bless these people and our communities who are suffering.

I'm just curious why there is not any reporting regarding the reason for the lack of water??? Everyone is talking about the losses and rebuilding but am I the only one who thinks this is a criminal action. I am not a californian but this seems negligent and really corrupt. With insurance bailing on residents there needs to be accountability for the lack of water.
Every one of them burnt "structures" has water running to it, so if no one is turning meters off they are definitely losing water pressure. Understand that drinking water and fire fighting water come from the same place. If you are pumping it out of the tanks faster, then the pumps can fill the tanks. it's obvious they are gonna have issues, unfortunately..
Think of how many water resources are just flowing, due to the fire. Busted water heaters, piping in houses and buildings, city main lines that have burst. There are so many reasons that the pressure can be affected. In every video that is out there, you see water on the ground, just flowing. Broken lines everywhere. I am married to plumber, and I ask him the same question. This was his response. Kinda makes sense now. You can't have every source of water at once pulling on the pressure and not have it affect another area. California is a state of limited water as it is. This is very unfortunate. 300k+ homes are without power, everything in my fridge went bad, no stores open, kids hungry and cold, work closed, everything is more difficult in these situations when you’re broke.
