- Eddie found some hard maple logs from the firewood pile so we put them on the mill , Sorry I had a audio problem with my GoPro so the sound is very low on this video! We have a online store at markgaliciccha...
Sorry about the audio on this video my GoPro had some issues , hope you enjoy!
thanks you for sharing
Mark if you would be so kind, we in East Tennessee need prayers. We are bad right now. The flooding from the hurricane is catastrophic. Two major bridges washed away. Our water supply pumping station was destroyed. The people in the southern section of our county are totally isolated. I am 71 yo and have never seen anything like this. Prayer are appreciated. Thank you.
yes for sure Gary , I hope everyone is safe and well!
Prayers to you and everyone that Helene affected. Tough times in the southeast US right now.
@@anthonyhengst2908 thank you.
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Yes, I know folks in mountains of N.C. who are in a tight spot now.
Mark, nice live show the other night. Volume sounds good here in manitoba canada. That maple is nice looking.
3-Log[Victim] Snack Video almost a full-meal-deal!!😉😉😎😎👍👍Have a great time at the show. It's over 12 hours 1 way so I can't make it. 😢😢
Most people think that thing Eddie uses is a nail! Mark, Eddie, and I know it is REALLY a Bus Motor Throttle Stabilizer Pin!!!! LOL
Master dog says he has been locked in the kennel. Could hear his whines of loneliness. Lovely Sunday breakfast video. Thank you. Patrick
Hey Mark I’ve always wondered why on your first bunk on the carriage the dogs sit so much higher up what is the reason for that? I guess it’s only when you have a log on …..Actually not bad looking hard maple for being in a firewood pile
Nothing beats a good sawing video on a Saturday evening!!
Enjoy!
I'd love to come up to the Bunion show and meet all y'all but it's just not meant this year again. I do enjoy the videos and I've learned a lot. Thanks guys!
Sad to hear those great majestic trees knocked down by the hurricane. They've been standing for eons of time and are part of area culture.
they ben laying around a long time judging from the bluestain do people want that? like worm hole pine
I have not seen hard maple with that much stain. Was that dead how long time before they cut it down?
Never know what beautiful wood can come out of a firewood pile
Nice bit of spalting. Pretty.
Pa (born at home in 1919) said they used hard maple for the roof boards of one of their outbuildings. Went to re-shingle it years later (yeah, probably homemade wood shake) and they couldn't drive the nails into the hard maple. Admittedly, nails were probably softer back then, but still, that's some hard stuff when dried for awhile! Hard Maple makes awesome firewood too! Come to think of it, the trees those boards came from were probably old growth. Bet the growth rings were 3 times as dense as anything we'd harvest today. Ever hear the story of the logs they're reclaiming from the bottom of Lake Superior, that were lost from log rafts a hundred or more years ago? Growth rings a quarter or third of the what trees today show.
We have Sugar Maples in Indiana that are 1450lbs on the Janka scale. Are those what you’re calling “hard”?
Hey guys I'm not complaining at all but your audio is definitely not where it usually is. Appreciate all your videos love you guys and all of your hard work. Thank you 🇺🇲👍
thanks Michael , please read the pined comment!
That hard maple looked good.
Hey Mark, how are you going with the eye drops? I'm into my 4th week, I had my post op check and the eye surgeon said my eye is perfect. I can't argue because it seems to work fine to me. I hope yours is going as well. Kind regards to you and Eddie!
thank you Eyema , I have two more weeks of eyedrops to go and all is going great!
Where I am in western North Carolina there are thousands of trees down, thanks to Helene. You could saw 40 hours a week for years and not cut all of them. It's pretty bad.
I hope you are safe David, my brother was hit too in South Carolina.
When did you get the maple bro? I'm pleased to see it but kinda off the books, anyway thank you for the video, very professional and masterly done, by the way how are you're eyes?
thanks Skender , these logs came from the firewood pile and my eyes are doing great!
Glad to see you doing so well. Enjoyed the video. I always look forward to seeing them. I am new to your channel so when I hear you comment on good lumber you say something like” FSA” , what does that mean? Keep up the great work. 👍
Hi Mark. Beautiful maple lumber. We have sugar maple, red maple, hard maple & rock maple trees in Vermont. During my 37yrs of firewood logger. I saw a lot of hard maple. It made fantastic fire coals. My best friend found a 7 inch red maple. He made a sign of his last name. Beautiful wood. I did noticed some slight audio changes. But. I've been following for many years. I understand your" broken sentences." To me. It was understandable. This maple reminds me my firewood logging years. 🥰🙂😉👍🌳 ( I left the green ones growing. Unless. Storm damaged. They will be cut up & stack to dry.) Someday. I ❤ to saw hard maple for lumber. 🥰🙂😉👍🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Thanks Mark. Say Hi to Ed. Have a good Saturday evening the 27th you two. 🥰🙂😉👍❤️💜🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🌳🪵
My old ears thought they picked up a bit of hesitation in that Jimmy but only very brief so the fuel seems to pretty settled and flowing at least by my old ears and a handy few logs.
Couldn't resist it - this was the sort of logging in my home town in the 50s 6 mills all steam powered and a population of 1100 with loads like this by the dozen daily. Notice the Japanese riding boots, the safety gear and sun protection. Old timer wood cutters were easy to spot; they were the ones with one or no legs or missing, fingers, a hand or an arm or two.

Hi Mark
If you would paint the other end of the log you could see the heart before you drag the log back
Just a suggestion from an old roofer
Thanks for the video, Mark. I would have gladly traded you for some of that "chili" weather ... we have been hot and muggy and NO POWER since Wed. night when hurricane Helene came calling. Been running a generator for the house but it can't run the A/C. Just got the power back on Saturday around 8 PM. We lost Internet Thursday morning and just got that back this afternoon.
Hi Mark. Great video as always. I do have a question. I don't generally question another meal, right? But it's just something that's I've seen you do time and time again and it's just makes me wonder. sometimes you'll take your first opening face and turn it to the knees. Sometimes you turn it to the bed and I don't get that it's just maybe it's just me, but when I was sore and we always turned the first opening cut to the knee, got a parallel side. Then we cut out any bowl or banana as little as possible to get a flat space again. And then we finished cutting the lock right down to the last. where we left a 4 by 4. It was always the last cut off the carriage was a 4 by 4 with pith. Just curious. You don't always do that, but sometimes you do.
That Livestream a few nights ago was fun we had a good time. Grandpa's brother used to turn hard maple for baseball bats and candle sticks. I guess he had to take it slow so it didn't splinter. He made tables out of hard maple too. We all really enjoyed your video ..... Really helps the brats taste better.😂
Good one boys been watching you for a long time enjoy the videos. Take Care. Cheers B. K
Boom, have a great weekend
thanks Mark.
Glad to hear the recovery is going well. I had eye surgery in 2007 and my vision has been great since then. However, I need bi-focal for close-in now…
Whats the vibration harderwood?? Maybe bearing in the husk??
Nice to see you up and cutting again. The logs might be small, but the prospect of the nice looking wood is something else. The buyer should be happy.
It's so modern, congratulations on making many products for your students to learn from. ❤❤❤
Nice sawing. Seems like you got to think ahead to get the most out of your log. Enjoyed the video, also enjoyed the live chat.
beautiful video. Wood cutting is both modern and traditional
Are you affected with the flood around Tennessee and North Carolina?
I'm planning on being at the show on Saturday.
Bill
Praying for East TN and others hit so hard by Helene. ❤❤❤❤❤
Hey Mark, just curious if you guys are making progress on the kiln?
Thanks again for sharing brother,we love them ❤️🙏
3 logs make a hard maple sandwich. Now all you need is a glass of lemonade to go with it.
Love your videos!Keep up the good work
