I some times want to buy clear tubing for connecting to various ports in vehicles for testing and flushing - what is the right way to measure a barbed male connector to determine correct tubing size?
I'm thinking of using the wife's hair dryer on rubber dishwasher supply line being supplied from a barbed supply fitting - can't get it on at room temp. Will this work? Should I use Rectorseal pipe thread sealant?
Question; The 1/4 in plastic barb connector, I ordered on Amazon, for my polyethylene 1/4 in tubing from an Aquasena under the sink water filter is too LARGE to push into the tubing (I need to make some connection modifications). Can I expand it and make softer the tubing with hair dryer heat so it will push into the barb connector?? Thanks!
This video would have been more helpful if he had someone operating the camera to show close-ups. I'm looking to use a barb to connect rubber hoses on my car. SO, this explanation was of limited value.

Thanks for info. I discovered the tube was cracked half way up....not at the connection. Phew. Replaced the tubing and it's fine!

Can you use a 1" barb fitting with a 1" propex tube. In stead of a propex fitting.

Given that a 10mm soft tube is slightly bigger than a 3/8 barb, will the tube leak?
I should believe a corresponding hose clamp would make all the difference.

it's plastic. It can be steel or even brass but it is plastic
