Very helpful! Beautiful tank and frogs! My only tip though is your not suppose to use small pebbles like that because they can accidentally swallow them while eating but in the water bowl is ok. Perfect video!
Looks like she is using a rabbits foot fern in this setup, I have one in a 40 gal breeder paludarium I finished building a few months ago and its doing great, grows fast, loves t5 spectrum.
i have a question about the Dendrobates auratus I have a 36X18X18 exo terra cage (50 gal.) would they be able to find their food easy enough in the cage thanks, Alexi
Like the setup but I wouldn’t recommend eco earth because the eco earth starts getting clumpy and decomposes fairly fast in the high humidity so I think u should use ABG mix from joshs frogs
I have reverse osmosis at my house installed by culagen. It is a second fauset connected to a purifying system that you can take water straight from and drink instead of bottled water or jugs. =) It's very convinient to have!
im interested in getting 3 frogs, probably white tree frogs/darts/red eyed(only one of the 3 kinds obviously) . how big of a of a terrarium would work best for these little guys. Thanks for the video you gave me lots of ideas.
Okay I have a exo terra 12x12x18 and I bought a Zoo Med heat pad for it. What I would like to know is should I place the heat pad on the back of the terrarium even though it has a foam background that is probably 2 or 3 inches thick or should I place it on the side where there's nothing but glass?
i have a 180 litre aquarium at the moment but i was wondering, if i converted it into a terrarium, would i be able to keep more than one species of dart frog in it? but even still ive heard that when tanks are too large the animals can find it stressful??
I had a question not related to this video but from a Green Tree Python that I bought from LLL and the Pomona Fairplex. The baby GTP has mites and I was wondering what is the best way to get rid of them?
Also are bromeliads suppose to have like little sharp like ridges on the leaves? because I bought one that looks like the one You guys sell on the site and it has like little sharp ridges on the leaves
this type of frogs are not arboreal, right? how many bumblebee arrow frogs does an 18x18x18 exoterra vivarium hold and is it a problem to keep these type of frogs in an 18x18x18 viv? are these type of frogs difficult to take care of. I'm still a beginner an currently have an american green tree frog but I like these species and would like to get them for summer :) Thanks for all the information in the videos.
The vivarium actually will never have to be fully cleaned only some minor spot cleaning if seen all the frog excrement will fertilize the plant and as for the glass you can wipe it down whenever you see fit
I just purchased a 12" by 12" by 18" tank, and some decorations and live plants for it, and i was wondering what the best beginner dart frogs would be and how many i could fit in there? Thanks!
Hello Jen and staff at LLL.. I am currently setting up a 46gallon bowfront vivarium for bubble bee's or blue azure frogs. The tank is 36"x19"x17" at the bow.. I plan on using the Exo-Terra compact large (4 bulb) light fixture.. Which bulbs would you or the staff at LLL recommend for a setup of this size? The Repti-Glo 2.0 x 4, the Repti-Glo 5.0 x4 or a mix of the two?? Thanks for any help you can give.
I know I'm asking a lot of questions that's because I want to know everything I need to know about these guys but is there such thing as having too many plants in a vivarium for bumblebee dart frogs? because I've decked my 12x12x18 out! Pothos two types of ferns Ivy a big Bromeliad, Frog moss and some some forest moss and a Tillandsias is on the way. is this too much? I mean I cant hardly see the bottom of the vivarium. I will post a picture on LLLReptile facebook page so You can see it.
Im settin up a terrarium for 2 dart frogs in 18x18x24. I have 2 green tree frogs in a temp home in which i plan addin w/ the dart frogs. I'll use a humidifier 4 the terrarium & am wantin live plants/moss like u. Do dart frogs only eat fruit flies? How do i go about feeding dart frogs & tree frogs if my tree frogs R eating meal worms from a very small dish? will the darts want 2 eat the worms. What king of lighting care do i need 4 plants/moss (bulb&time). What heat source can i use 4 the frogs?
in a 24 x 24 x 32 inch set up, would you say it's safe to keep 5 dart frogs? currently have them in 3 separate tanks and would like to consolidate the space so I can get a few new friends.
In your video you say that you use reverse osmosis treated water to mist your cages to reduce water spots. What is this, and where can you purchase it? Also if you have water spots on your terrarium how could you clean them off?
What would be good for heat on this kind of setup? I live in pennsylvania and we get some cold winters. Would a heat mat on the bottom or back work well?
I am new to dartfrogs and i have a question about the bottum setup, isnt going to be a lot of water in there if you spray like 3 times a day. And isnt that water going to smell after a while? ( sorry for the crappy english)
michaela2b If you set up the terrarium with a layer of Hydroton pebbles as a filter at the bottom, and your bedding and plants on top of that, it will help it stay much cleaner. And you should not "soak" it anyhow. If you don't soak it, it will constantly evaporate.
With such a small set up like this you don't have a lot of space up top to add a uv light plus a heat lamp so a small heat pad would be my option if was getting too cold a temp
No body's mentioned it but aside from some things I saw wrong with this video I wanted to point out that you didn't rinse the potting soil from the plants. The chemicals in the soil would not be good for dart frogs. That and some other things I saw.
The plants we use are organic, as is the soil. There are no chemicals in our plants. Keep in mind what you think is "wrong" may just be your opinion on care. We breed quite a lot of darts :)
I visit your store very often, and enjoy the great service, but there were a few things that i found questionable. For example. the plant you said was "viny" is a large leafed, non vine-like plant. and just a few minor things. I still think the viv looks great tho. not trying to hate
i never thought to place fruit inside the enclosure as a meeting place for the flies. they will last longer inside the frog enclosre too. thanks for the idea!
If I want a setup like this, can I go to one of the stores and have one of you guys build something like this for me? Also, I'm planning on going to the Reptile Super Show in Pomona this coming January. Would you guys be willing to build something there, or is it too hectic?
You have to watch them how they live and make test areas warmer than other areas . When figuring out the temperature for your area they'll tell you, either they need it to be warmer or not... : )
like I said theres not much open area on the ground. I posted a picture to LLLReptile & Supply on facebook. hope to get a response. I hope its good enough for them
Do they need a tall terrarium ? I was planning in getting 2 and putting them in a 10 gallon long . And how can I convince my mom to let me keep the flies . She is scared they'll get out and be everywhere
I think I can help you out. No, you don't necessarily need a tall enclosure. height isn't as important as length or width for dart frogs. And as for the flies, the ones you buy are actually flightless so they kinda just walk about- they don't actually fly! Hope that helped!
How many dart frogs can I have in my zoo med 12x12x18? I'm getting a dendrobates tinctorius and I didn't know if he or she would do better with a friend of the same species.
Hi Jen! In this video you said it might be okay to house some dart frogs with tree frogs. I have a 75 Gal Tank and I did some research, joined the frog fourms and what not. I was wondering if could I potentially house Red eyed tree frogs with any type of dart frogs because they have pretty similar requirements right?
Can you maintain a terrarium like this in an apartment without those fruit flies getting out? Also, if you keep your apartment in the sixties all the time, can they live happily with one of those heat lamps over the enclosure?
dragonspirit1185 They don't need it, but it helps their tanks keep humidity and if not too big, they could sit on it to make sure they have water. If you want to see more information about it, check out these two websites: www.caudata.org/ www.frogforum.net/content.php
dragonspirit1185 I agree, but I'd still put one in but only activate it when you won't be able to spray daily, the same reason you might invest in a mistking and timer. Also worth noting, dart frogs _can_ swim, but you probably shouldn't make the whole bottom of the tank water or something. If they can climb out directly afterwards, it should be fine. Hang on, let me find a few threads
dragonspirit1185 Exactly, think of it more of like a mist king. A water fall also doesn't necessarily mean a water section as well, or at least a large one. Please, read some of the threads, they're very helpful
That setup looks amazing
Very helpful! Beautiful tank and frogs! My only tip though is your not suppose to use small pebbles like that because they can accidentally swallow them while eating but in the water bowl is ok. Perfect video!
Thanks for the video. Very helpful and looks great. Please make a video for taking care of mantellas

Your vivarium set ups are really really nice :)
Great video. Really help me out alot and used it as a guide. In the end, how many Bumble Bees can you put in? Also the sexes, one male, one female?
Thank you, I will give you guys a call once I've gone through the video. Keep up the great service
im interested in getting 3 frogs, probably white tree frogs/darts/red eyed(only one of the 3 kinds obviously) . how big of a of a terrarium would work best for these little guys.
Thanks for the video you gave me lots of ideas.
Your set up videos are cool, you should do care guides
Okay I have a exo terra 12x12x18 and I bought a Zoo Med heat pad for it. What I would like to know is should I place the heat pad on the back of the terrarium even though it has a foam background that is probably 2 or 3 inches thick or should I place it on the side where there's nothing but glass?
what are all the supplies i would need for a living vivarium for 2 Nicaraguan Green & Black Auratus Arrow Frogs?
***** , what kind off lighting do you use? you guys are great!
i have a 180 litre aquarium at the moment but i was wondering, if i converted it into a terrarium, would i be able to keep more than one species of dart frog in it? but even still ive heard that when tanks are too large the animals can find it stressful??

oh and i have another question. Can give us tour of your house showing us your reptiles, amphibians..etc
this type of frogs are not arboreal, right?
how many bumblebee arrow frogs does an 18x18x18 exoterra vivarium hold and is it a problem to keep these type of frogs in an 18x18x18 viv? are these type of frogs difficult to take care of. Thanks for all the information in the videos.
It's cool how other pet stores do the same thing u do and make it complicated Ann
How often would you say the enclosure needs to be fully cleaned? Or do the drainage components added at the beginning prevent that?
The vivarium actually will never have to be fully cleaned only some minor spot cleaning if seen all the frog excrement will fertilize the plant and as for the glass you can wipe it down whenever you see fit
Thanks. I'm trying to decide between bumblebee and auratus dart frogs
Hello, then what you decide? If may i know, leucomelas orang auratus?
Fantastic video! I'm looking to buy my first dart frog. Any suggestions for maximum success? Thanks
thank you for replying I will do that, is there a specific fruit or does it not matter.
I just purchased a 12" by 12" by 18" tank, and some decorations and live plants for it, and i was wondering what the best beginner dart frogs would be and how many i could fit in there? Thanks!
Nathan Mills blue
Loved the video! One of the best on UA-cam hands down. That being said any chance you could do one for red eyed tree frogs?
Great video! How do you know if a plant is reptile safe?
Thanks! I'm probably gonna get either a couple of Bumblebee or Azureus frogs.
Is LLLReptile coming to the repticon in louisiana baton rouge December 14.

Hi! Very nice setup, I have a question though. The (mopani) wood in the tank, won't it get moldy in such humid environment? Thank you. Take care. Joey
+Shakudo Mopani is perfect because humid environnement don't affect it
they do mold or atleast the parts in the ground but besides that they're good
Such a cool cage setup!!
hi do you guys know the specific name for that tropical vining plant you used in the tank? Please respond. Thanks!
What kind of water do you guys use in a fogged? Purified? Distilled? Bottled?
Use distilled or RO/DI

+boyhitscar23 Yes, that is enough to keep the same type together.
+LLLReptile and Supply Co, Inc. I was thinking of getting 3/4 in a 24 X 18 X 18. That seem a fair suggestion?
In your video you say that you use reverse osmosis treated water to mist your cages to reduce water spots. What is this, and where can you purchase it? Also if you have water spots on your terrarium how could you clean them off?
Hey Jen , Nice to know the person behind the voice in earlier videos :)
Any croc monitor juveniles ?
What would be good for heat on this kind of setup? I live in pennsylvania and we get some cold winters. Would a heat mat on the bottom or back work well?
Do the frogs need a heat source like a zoo med heat pad?

You again
I have an 18x18x24 exo terra, could 4 frogs live comfortably in there? Also is it ok to have different species? Like a bumble bee and the blue ones?
4 frogs should be ok in there, and you can have a mixed species cage, just watch them for a few days to make sure they are not bullying each other.
no dont mix species thats still to small for it, you need atleest 24” x 18” x 24 to mix land species and aborial species
I actually learned quite a bit from this video, thank you!
If I want a setup like this, can I go to one of the stores and have one of you guys build something like this for me? Also, I'm planning on going to the Reptile Super Show in Pomona this coming January. Would you guys be willing to build something there, or is it too hectic?
The hectic is just gathering all the resources. Also very expensive too.
You have to watch them how they live and make test areas warmer than other areas . When figuring out the temperature for your area they'll tell you, either they need it to be warmer or not... : )
Do you think that they can be put in with tree frogs?
Very nice setup!
I have two questions 1: can a full-sized adult fit in there and 2: how many can you fit in there
like I said theres not much open area on the ground.

Thanks ! It really did . Hopefully I can pick some up
How often would you recommend cleaning out the tank? Thanks.
Could you do a video for Green Tree frogs? I feel like I'm not treating them right.
How many dart frogs can I have in my zoo med 12x12x18? I'm getting a dendrobates tinctorius and I didn't know if he or she would do better with a friend of the same species.
+Jacob Temple I wouldn't do more than 2. 12 x 12 floor space is not very big. I would recommend the 18 x 18 x 18" for a few
+LLLReptile and Supply Co, Inc. i got a bakhius should really really small. Is two ok for this certain species
How do u get the wood background to stitch I tried sylicun but it wouldn't work PLZ respond!!!
With the living plants do they still decompose most of the poop
Hi Jen!
In this video you said it might be okay to house some dart frogs with tree frogs. I have a 75 Gal Tank and I did some research, joined the frog fourms and what not. I was wondering if could I potentially house Red eyed tree frogs with any type of dart frogs because they have pretty similar requirements right?
Can they not swim or float in water? Do they have the natural instinct to not go into deep water if say I had a waterfall into a 3 inch little "pond"?
What type of small tree frog would be okay to add?
Will the tank size work for the whole frogs life?
Thank you,very interesting. Beautiful frogs
Hey Jen do I need Zoo Med Reptivite Without D3 or Zoo Med Reptivite With D3 for two baby Bumblebee dartfrogs?
Can you maintain a terrarium like this in an apartment without those fruit flies getting out? Also, if you keep your apartment in the sixties all the time, can they live happily with one of those heat lamps over the enclosure?
And would it be okay If I were not using hydro balls just Eco earth?
Could this be a set up for any dart frog
Will the fruit flies escape from the cage through the screen or ventilation inter the door?
Dang that is cool how much do they cost
That's a amazing cage great job I might purchase some
If I put a heat mat at the bottom would that help?
How many Dart Frogs could I keep in a 18x18x18 Exo Terra?
Can you make this style of vivarium for a frilled lizard
can i keep 1 bumblebee in a 20by20by20cm terrarium ???
Can this be used for dentrobates azures aswell same setup but bigger tank??
Sure!
how do you keep them warm?
do you travel around the world to do these videos
Will this setup work for dendrobates auratus
CW Reptiles Yep!!
do you ship to the UK
could I keep the with other small frogs like fire belly toads?
Connor K. yes, darts like waterfalls, and it keeps humidity
dragonspirit1185 They don't need it, but it helps their tanks keep humidity and if not too big, they could sit on it to make sure they have water. If you want to see more information about it, check out these two websites: www.caudata.org/ www.frogforum.net/content.php

does this work with any dart frogs
Can you keep different species of dart frogs together?
Will this work with Dendrobates Aratus?
Yes.
ok so I am thinking of a 30 gallon viv how many luecs in that size
Can a dart frog live in an 20 gallon tank which is 50% water and 50% land. And there are Little fish in the water part.
definitely not
+Happy Gillmore 2years later lol
Where can I get a sprayer like used in this video @ 8:13?
What size cork flats were used?
If i want to breed frogs would i want to put a water feature in like a pond
How do you keep mold from growing on the wood?
nice tutorial loved watching your video!:)
And lll reptile makes everything simple
Can this be used for a crested gecko? I'm new to this hobby of keeping reptiles.
+ProSportGaming To small for crested gecko.
ProSportGaming I wouldn't
You could also stick a heat pad on the back wall that way you won't be over heating roots :-)
How many bumblebee frogs do you keep there?
very helpful. thanks Jen
Wow, you got it. Learned so much
